Everyone has always walked away from her; will Jax be any different?
Zora is in her apartment with her roommates, Jess and Amelia, when a package is left at the door for her. Her mother dropped off her infant son, Levi, with a note telling Zora that she can't do this again and she's not going to try. She even signed the note with her name, Janice, not Mom. Other than his name, there was zero information about the baby—not even his birth date or father's name. Janice had left nothing but the note and Levi; no clothes, other than what Levi was wearing; and more importantly no formula or diapers. Luckily she works at a daycare, and in her emergency kit from there she has formula packets and a baby bottle in it.
She estimates that Levi is six or possibly seven weeks old. Her mother's phone is no longer in service when she tries to call her. She was raised in the system and doesn't want Levi raised in it like she was. Levi deserves better than that, the same as she did, too. It won't be easy, but she's keeping Levi. Janice has a history of creating messes and leaving others to clean up after her, although Levi isn't a mess. Neither she nor Levi deserved a mother like Janice.
When she tells her roommates, they immediately nix that idea. Besides, she's certain the landlord will toss them all out when he learns about Levi. He already wasn't happy about the three of them in one apartment. She and Levi move into an apartment in the Wilder House building. She soon finds out that Jax is her next-door neighbor.
Jaxon, or Jax, as he's known to everyone except family, was raised in a wealthy family. He walked away from both his family and the family business to be a race car driver. Now as Jax is almost thirty, his father is getting ready to retire, and his mother is insistent that he return home to take over the family business. His mother has always been controlling, and him taking his father's place in the company will be advantageous for her, another reason for him not to do it. She can push his buttons and get to him faster than anyone.
Levi had been sick and was particularly fussy one night. After she finally got him to sleep, Jax and his sister, Sienna, who unexpectedly showed up at his door that evening, had a loud argument that woke Levi. He started crying, and she couldn't get him to stop. When Sienna left, Jax came to her door, but he's not there to complain; he's there to apologize and to see if he can help. He's known in his family for his ability to calm and soothe his nieces and nephews. His magic touch works on Levi in a short while. No one has ever wanted to keep Zora, let alone help her with anything. Jax's willingness to help is completely out of the norm for Zora, but she learns to trust him.
Things are finally working out for Zora. Then his mother stops Zora and Levi on the street. She informs Zora that Jaxon will be turning thirty in two days, and with his father retiring soon, Jaxon will become the CEO of the family-owned multi-billion-dollar company. She also knows that Zora has no legal claim to Levi, so if Zora doesn't break up with Jaxon in two days, she'll make a phone call and leave it up to the authorities to decide what will happen to Levi. Zora can't believe anyone, especially a mother herself, could do anything like that! She calls his mother a horrible person; she replies that she's practical and that she refuses to let Jaxon lose everything over something temporary.
After Zora finally does an internet search on Jax, she is shocked at what she learns—he's a billionaire and heir to Corbin Industries. Although she knows that she loves him and he loves her, she will have to give him up because of Levi. Levi is an innocent baby who was born to a terrible mother and doesn't deserve the hand that was dealt to him. Zora can't abandon him now. She loves him too much to let him become lost in the system. Since she's barely making herself, there's no way she'd be allowed to keep him. If she doesn't give up Levi, Mrs. Corbin will make the phone call.
She didn't know that Jax walked away to become a race car driver because he didn't want to become like his father—a man so busy with his empire that he had no time for his family, nor has he ever seemed to regret it. His sister, Sienna, who took over his position when he left, not only loves the job but is also excellent in that position. Sienna would love to permanently take over the CEO job despite being a wife and a mother. She's not only excellent for the position, but knows how to balance home and work, something their father never learned. Sienna was certain that Jax, like their mother, would be against her becoming CEO.
Zora decides to tell him about the meeting with his mother. This way she'll only lose Jax instead of both him and Levi. Also, she'll finally be the one walking away, instead of the one being left behind. When he walks out after she tells him there is no "us," she realizes that even when she was extremely happy with Jax, she never canceled her lease—she kept an exit open.
Sienna refuses to accept Jax's belief that Zora doesn't love him. She points out that Zora leaving him has all the signs of their meddling mother being involved. He never thought their mother would stoop so low as to threaten Levi to get her way...

This is a beautifully written, sweetly told story of innocent Zora Norwak our MFC. Petite but strong and independent. She has long wavy black hair and sharp blue eyes…and is beautiful.
And our MMC Jax (Jackson) Corbin. He’s tall, muscular, blonde hair, blue eyed and handsome.
Hes heir and CEO to the multibillion-dollar Corbin Industries.
But his passion is racing cars. Causing many fights with his controlling, dominating mother.
Janice, Nora’s mom unexpectedly leaves Zoras baby brother Levi who’s six to seven weeks old on her doorstep. Leaving a note to explain from her mother to Zora in the box. But Zora would keep her baby brother and protect him, making sure he has a better childhood than Zora had.
When Jax sees Zora on the sidewalk he’s propelled to follow her to her apartment that’s happens to be beside his own.
Something inside him shifts.
Everything’s different and he can’t stop thinking of Zora. Having protective and possesive instincts for her. Like wise Zora couldn’t keep her mind off Jax either.

Jax lives at Wilder House, when he could be living like a billionaire. His mother is trying to force him into taking over as CEO of their company, but he never wanted that. He just wants to live his own life, and keep car racing. But when he first sees Zora, who happens to be his new next-door neighbor, he is completely gone over her.
The relationship between Zora and Jax develops when he can hear the baby crying, and wants to help. So he goes next door, takes the baby in his arms, and invites Zora to get some much-needed sleep.
Is there anything sexier than a man who knows how to handle a baby? I think not.
The path to happily ever after is not an easy one, what with Jax’s mother having a bee in her bonnet about him being CEO. Jax is of the opinion that his sister Sienna is better equipped for the job, and actually wants to do it. Doesn’t keep from doing some nasty little things behind Jax’s back.
I really loved this story; there’s just something special about a man who could have anyone he wants, and wants a single mother raising her baby brother. He loved her from the start, and that love grew, fiercely, fully, and beautifully. This is one of my most favorite happy endings from this author, and that’s saying something, because I don’t choose favorites lightly.
Come for the hot man who loves holding babies, stay for the strong woman who loves him, and lets him love her. And get the book.

It's from the mother of Zora who doesn't want the baby. And Zora takes him in and can't put him in Child system. So she needs to leave her roommates and ends up in Wilder House.
Jason (Jax) is hinding out for his family. He doesn't want to be the CEO of his family's corporation. All he wants to do is racing cars. He's very good at it. But his mother won't quit harassing him to come back and become CEO.
He lives incognito in Wilder house.
Zora and her little brother Levi become his new neighbours. Jax likes what he sees. He hasn't been interested in a woman in years...but Zora and Levi awaken his feelings.
Zora works hard in the daycare centre where levi can stay with her. But the nights are so heavy because Levi cries zo much.
So when Jax knocked on her door and sees the exhausted Zora he steps in, takes levi to his chest....and the little boy stops crying, falls asleep.
From here their lovestory grows fast and deep.
But the past always comes back when you won't see it coming. Will they survive it?
This book has a complete different angle in the story and I loved it very much. The fast pace and amount of spice makes it even better! Short but addictive slightly different so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Zora is one strong extremely independent young woman working, taking of her baby brother alone (total bad a**) especially at her age but that is all she has by way of family, and all she wants is to have a family of her own to belong a place for her, as well as little Levi. (Levi needs his own book about his baby shenanigans to draw the two people together). Jax sexy as all get out on the run from his privileged life because he wanted to live on his own terms, yes, he has plans to go back home but not until he has lived his way no where in that way did, he imagine a little boy name Levi and his sister to throw his plans everyway but the way he planned. The moment of first meeting the magnetic pull between them is there and throw in a baby boy who ultimately ensures they end out with him (they being the operative word here) thus shifting both their paths but will she stay once learning the truth about him, have they both found their family – we all know little Levi takes the price 😊, and can it all lead them to happiness?

This is a beautiful love built one brick at a time. Zora is a kind and caring young woman who takes her baby brother as her own when their mom abandons him on her doorstep. We immediately meet who Zora is at her core—and can’t help but fall in love with her essence and soul. That makes it easy to see why Jax reacts the way he does when he meets Zora and baby Levi. Jax is a mystery wrapped in a low key broody guy next door vibe, though he is anything but. I love how he shows up and steps up while also respecting Zora’s space and boundaries from the start. Their connection is instant, yet he reads her well and understands the need for a slow burn sizzle. The daddy kink (not my jam at all) was mild and didn’t overwhelm the story line, and the 3rd act drama really shook things up masterfully. The only piece that doesn’t fit is the book title…it doesn’t match the story at all in my opinion….

Their dynamic kept me turning the pages because I had to know how everything would work out.

Another short but sweet book from Cassi Hart, full of love, heat and a sexy MMC. I didn’t want it to end! Zora ends up in Wilder House when her roommates kick her out. The reason is her irresponsible mother drops her month old baby brother at her apartment door with a note attached. Zora could turn the baby, Levi, into child services but refuses. She was in the system and refuses to put him through the same hell. Jax is living/hiding out at Wilder House from his family, who expect him to take over the company that his father built. He wants to pursue his racing career. These two come together when Zora is so tired she can hardly stand. Jax tells her to take a nap and he’ll watch over Levi. When Jax holds him, Levi stops whimpering and calms right down. Love soon follows but is tested by outside forces. HEA. Part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

I found this to be a sweet story with the angst reminiscent of a Reddit post. Zora gets saddled with her infant brother which she decides to keep him much to the dismay of her roommates. The story thankfully skips ahead to her now living in Wilder House shortly before her and Jax meet. I have a feeling I would have blood pressure issues if I read about how her roommates treated her. But it was implied enough. Jax refuses to follow the will of his mother and the life she had planned for him. The story does skip ahead after Jax and Zora get together but without loosing the plot. With an angry mother and a hurt Zora, Jax has to save their happily ever after.
Good story line really liked the characters.

I wanted to hug Zora for what she had been through and for the situation she was put in, she showed such strength of character, determination and love, there was never any doubt in her mind when it came to Levi. I liked seeing how she and Jax met, the bond he had with Levi and the respect, care, support and love that he gave and showed Zora and Levi. I believed in their connection and chemistry, in them as a family and I liked the support he had from his sister, the way she helped them both through a tough time and how she never doubted their love for one another. This was another engaging read for the series and I really enjoyed watching the trust and connection build between Jax and Zora. She's got walls with walls from abandonment issues but, when her estranged mother leaves her a baby, she finds something that gives her that sense of family she's always been looking for. Baby Levi also brings Jax into her sphere. He's got a past and secrets that will rock Zora... Expect to get caught up in the fierce devotion, fear, sacrifice, found family theme and hot romance when you dive into this emotional and high stakes read. I was glued to my reader fretting for them and love that they got their HEA. Good fun!

I’m really enjoying this series. This is a good addition to it. The FMC opens the door late one night to find a baby left for her. Turns out that her mother had a baby and said she couldn’t do it. So the FMC takes her little brother in to care for him. She has to move out of her tiny shared apartment. She finds a studio at Wilder House. There she meets the MMC. He’s slightly older, falls for them instantly. But he’s hiding who he really is. She finds out when threatened by his mother. It’s a little bit of a roller coaster ride. The spice is spicy, a DD/lg light relationship with a great HEA.

She’s independent, strong and feels like she doesn’t need anyone, her life has been full of disappointments and abandonment so when Jax, the Mmc and neighbour comes to her rescue she’s sceptical. Jax is escaping from a life that he doesn’t want, he just wants to race and now that he’s met her he wants Zora. He is a kind and loving Mmc and the way he looks after Levi is so heartwarming. Good story. Zora's room mate opens the apartment door and there is a baby with an envelope with her name on it. It is from her mother who says she can't do it again. It is her brother. She is forced to leave and ends up at Wilder House. Jax is running away from his mother who wants him to take over his fathers company. He has no interest and is trying to keep a low profile at the House. When he sees Zora struggling with Levi he offers to help. This short story is full of family drama, emotions and has a happy ending. I enjoyed reading it.
