I rather enjoyed this read. I have participated in some Action for Happiness events. Some stuff was a great reminder for things I've already known, other things were a good inspiration for what I can do further to improve my life. Which is always nice. After a big long depression slump I really needed these reminders. I appreciated that Dr. Mark Williamson didn't do the toxic positivity thing and try to reframe everything in life with rose coloured glasses. He was quite practical in his observations and suggestions. I'd recommend it. Especially for readers who enjoy Gretchen Rubin.

I love this book. I love the mix of personal stories, mixed in with ideas for happiness, both from experts and the author's lived experience. I found the first part Happier Inside covered so many of the basic foundations for Happiness. Happier Together really helped me think about the importance of community and I loved the Raising Resilience chapter which really made me think about how I parent. Closing with Happier for Good helped me think about the wider world and our place in it, and empowered me to think about actions I can take. A really actionable, practical book that gives space for reflection, thought and most importantly action.

Mark Williamson is the CEO and host of the British series, Action for Happiness. He was trained as an engineer, and he applies hard science to ways to find more happiness in our lives.

I'm a huge fan of Action for Happiness and I wanted to read this book so much that I pre-ordered the book from Great Britain last April and I've been reading it ever since.

I've listened to a couple of dozen speakers on happiness at the Action for Happiness website, I've taken the six-week Happiness Habits course, and I download the monthly happiness calendar to point me in the right direction each day.

Williamson has drawn on fifteen years of speaking to those who study various aspects of happiness for this book, and it includes powerful practices of reframing and listening to others (two of my favorites) that increases happiness.

I think if I'd not read a lot on the subject I'd have found the book more impressive than I did. I've followed Action For Happiness and their outputs and I probably had excessive expectations about what the book would be like. It's a decent summary of psychological research and sensible advice.
