First and foremost let’s just say that I started reading this one thinking that it was a romance story. I read it the first time and told Karla WTF where is the romance and boy was I surprised with it.

Be aware this book is not for everyone; is so dark at times that you won’t want to keep reading, it happened to me. Yet, I don’t like to read about any kind of abuse to children this book brings it in a different perspective and perhaps is because I read it twice that I can appreciate it more even though it was hard the first time the next one was when I enjoyed it the most.

The main character Amy talks about her abusive childhood story to her psychologist and OMG does it go dark and dangerous. The writing is phenomenal, the connections between Amy’s experience and reflecting it in the present was really good. This book by far exceeded my expectation despite reading it twice, but totally worth it because after digging more into the story that started slowly; I found myself captivated by the narrative of Amy and how disturbingly realistic and amazing the story came to be.

Now to what I like:

I loved the book totally despite not being a romance. I was sold with the dark and explicit details provided because it told me that the author cared and I appreciate research as much as a good romantic scene.

Don’t think that is straight up pain because Shane will change your view for sure, and ultimately there is some romance.

What I didn’t like:

I feel that it was more of a drama than a romance. It was hard to read about child abuse because it was so well written and explicit that you almost felt as if it was real. Then again, this is good thing for the writer. However, but readers that are not into this sort of dark psychological suspense dramas a little alert would help.

Overall, I would totally recommend this book. Great read, amazing story and really good storytelling from start to end. 5 Diamonds / 1 flame because it was not that kind of book.

This story is a sick and twisted tale of a horrible, manipulative freak of a monster who abuses children of various ages, regardless of gender. This power and dominance narcissist shows his evil and the author does a magnificent job conveying that. The story flip flops between one of the victim's therapy sessions and flashbacks of the events. I stay up all night reading this book, it was THAT gripping--and quite possibly the best book I have read this year. I was dumbfounded to think that no one noticed what kind of monster this man was, and these children were unprotected.

Although classified as a "thriller" .. I sort of think it is more of a psychological drama. What's the difference? Well, I wasn't scared for the characters if that makes sense, I was more disgusted that such a character existed. Ms. Reynolds did an excellent job portraying this character and the thoughts and fears of abuse victims. At one point, I did say to myself, "oh come on, just tell some adults"... but that would have made for a shorter story, and perhaps an unrealistic one. Kids are afraid to tell, they are ashamed, and they are threatened no one would believe them. I know sick, twisted freaks like this exist, I only hope they all suffer the same fate as this character did.

I had a chance to Beta read this for Jennifer, and although it deals with a difficult subject- It was very well written, and takes you on a journey through the years of mental and physical abuse that Amy suffered at the hands of a family member, which can often be the case with predators that prey on young victims. I liked how sessions from the Dr. were included so we got a deeper aspect of the story and how it unfolded. There are some disturbing parts but they needed to be there to get the whole picture of what she had to endure growing up. Each page kept me wanting to know more and the whole time i was rooting for her to be able to escape. I found myself feeling her fear, and wishing I could help. If you like real-life situations, and amazing detailed writing then this is one you should definitely check out.

Wow - this book is deep, dark, and thought provoking. It is written as a patient telling her story to her Psychiatrist. Amy had a secret one that she kept for years and years. She is telling her story of abuse, mental, physical and sexual abuse at the hands of a relative. Her father is dead, and her mother doesn't or chooses to not believe her when she tells her why she doesn't want to go to family functions.

It is the story of how she survives, the people who help her, the people that don't help her and what she has lived through.

Be warned it is dark, as a story about child abuse should be. It left me in tears, and has given me a look into both the dark mind of HIM, and into the broken healing mind of Amy.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Jennifer Reynolds.

Amy Roberts has been living with a secret for years and has been silenced by fear from telling anyone about it. Now she is struggling to do what is right for her and to see the man put in his place for what he has done.

The author wrote some good characters in this story. The flow of the story was a little rough in a couple places. This is not for everyone because of the emotional struggles and violence against the character.

This is not for everyone because of content and some readers might find it disturbing to them. This is for dark thriller story readers.

Awesome Read! This story had me from the beginning to the end, very emotional read for me, In the note from the author it states that much of this book is true which made it more emotional. As a survivor this book hit home. This book is very well written and I recommend it to anyone who likes gripping emotional reads and likes to see the bad guy get what's coming to him.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This is a very dark book dealing with difficult sexual situations. It helped that it was written in flashbacks to counseling sessions. That seemed to help me as a reader deal with the material. However, I felt that it was honestly written.
