True Love, Book 1 - Discovering Us
They wanted forever... but sometimes forever's not that easy.
Ellen has loved Jagger since she was five and he was seven when they kissed through the chain link fence at school. She’s had their wedding planned since she was twelve and is ready for a happily ever after with him, but life just isn't that neat and tidy. Although they lost contact over the years, which broke her heart, during Jag's senior year in high school, sophomore Ellen catches his eye once again and their friendship is back on. When things between them gradually develop into something more, Ellen wants to give herself completely to Jag, but he’s not so sure he wants to risk their relationship in taking things to the next level. When Jag is drafted to the Dodgers as the hot, new pitcher of the team, Ellen decides to go with him, transferring colleges and leaving her friends and family behind. But things get more and more complicated when busy schedules, a slimy agent and a supermodel disrupt their lives, which makes Ellen question whether they’ll ever get their perfect forever.
True Love, Book 2 – Finding Us
They wanted forever... but does forever deserve a second chance? Jag Jensen and Ellen Love had been best friends their whole lives until he turned thirteen and started noticing girls his own age, but that didn't mean he stopped watching out for eleven-year-old Ellen. By his senior year in high school, baseball had taken the front seat in his life, with a scholarship to college and a pro career looming on the horizon, when sophomore Ellen caught his attention and they struck up their friendship again. Although Ellen wanted more, Jag didn't want to drag her into what he knew would be a crazy life, but love has a way of deciding one's future, and eventually they became a couple. Ellen followed him to California as he began his pro career, but his wild and hectic lifestyle screwed everything up.
Now Jag is lost, realizing he's never been without his best friend in his life. Learning to live without Ellen doesn't settle well with him, so while trying to remain at the top of his career, he also wants to get his girl back, which proves to be more difficult than he thought it'd be. Will Ellen give him another chance or does that sort of thing only happen in the sappy romance novels she always used to read? Jag hopes she's willing to try again as he puts his heart on the line for the woman he knows will always be his forever and a day.
True Love, Book 3 – Finally Us
They wanted forever… but is forever really their destiny?
After several misunderstandings and unsavory characters get in their way, Ellen Love and Jag Jensen have called it quits after nine years of being together. Now they find themselves in places with which they’re not accustomed: Ellen is trying to get used to the idea of dating another man, having never gone out with anyone other than Jag, while Jag is coping with an injury and the loss of baseball, a game he’s played for over twenty years. Neither is sure how to handle their new situation, but they’re dealing.
When a surprise trade lands Jag right back in the middle of things and right back into Ellen’s life, new boyfriend and all, can he keep his cool and try to recover what they once had? Does Ellen still carry a torch for her first love or has she already fallen for her new baseball player, making it too late for them to start again?
The fight is on as Jag goes head-to-head with Ellen’s new love interest as he tries proving to her that their love deserves another shot.

I managed to burn through this entire series in one day and as much as I enjoyed reading it, the books when read back to back just seem to go on and on. I loved getting both characters perspective on their relationship and break-up(s) but Christ on a cracker, the NA inspired angst was a never ending thing! Good writing and strong characters but at the end of the day I needed a big glass of wine in the worst way.
I loved this series-like stayed up until 3 in the morning loved it! Jagger would get my so angry by his selfish asshat moves, but I think he was just so overwhelmed by all the attention he was getting. He was still in his early 20's and famous so I had to give him a pass. The thing I loved most about him was regardless of how many times he and Ellen broke up, he never gave up on their relationship. Never.
Ellen gave everything she had to making things work with Jagger. I think she should have bitch slapped the lingerie model a time or two, but that's just me...
I loved the angst, I loved the characters, I loved the story line! Such a delicious read!
Book 1 was good. Book 2, not so much. Book 3 at least finished a little better. The drama and angst were a little over-contrived and failed to deliver. The characters had some growth in book 3. It took me a while to get through the series, especially books 2 & 3 - skimmed some, put down and picked up other books. 2.5 rounded stars for the trilogy.
This was just ok. I read it as a trilogy and not the separate books, but I reviewed each book separately after completing each section. Those reviews are more more through than this will be...so check the individual books: Discovering Us, Finding Us, and Finally Us.
I feel like the author could've made it all one book and not added stupid drama and separations to stretch it out to a trilogy. I think it would have been better as one book. I'm kind of disappointed. This had been on my tbr list for a while and for some reason I kept pushing it off (maybe because it was a trilogy)...so I had high hopes for it going in. I am a sucker for the childhood friends-to-first loves stories, so this was right up my alley. I don't think I'll put this down as one of my favorites though...and I don't think it's going to be all that memorable..."Just ok" sums it up for me.
❤️🌼🔥🔥LOVED JAGGER KNOX JENSEN AND ELLEN REESE LOVE...❤️🌼🔥 I really love this series.... I love Jag and El....He’s an all alpha male big famous baseball player...and she’s an innocent student....but they have known each other since they were children and have, basically, been together since they were teenagers....so they have a lot of history... I’ll admit I became frustrated with Jag, because it was obvious that he had been with lots of girls in high school...but it took him seeing a pic someone texted for him to catch a plane to come back and nail her!!! I get that Jag loved El and wanted to protect her...but he waited longer than I felt was “normal.” I understood why she felt something must be wrong with her....❤️🌼🔥 I also became frustrated with Jag (as a pro jock and worldly guy) for being so naive about Alessandra and Dirk,,,,but I was also frustrated with El by the last book, because to love him as much as she did, she could NEVER give him trust or the benefit of the doubt until almost the very end.....so she seemed immature in that regard.....❤️🌼🔥 Lots of frustrations?? Maybe...but it’s still a REALLY GOOD Trilogy!!! People in love act stupid sometimes....Lots of hotness!!! Lots of love!!! ❤️🌼🔥

This series really made me one happy reader. I love reading books or series that are about couples being in love since they were children and once they've grown up, their love seems to be stronger and they have to fight for their love to stay strong. This was a very emotional, sad and happy book. It took a while for the happy to come along, but let me tell you....it was well worth it. The author did an exceptional job with this series, it was well written and I can't wait to read more from her. I will cherish this series and I will remember it as being one of my best series by far this year.
Book 1: Ellen's POV: Jag and Ellen grew up together and always hung out together and were like best friends. Jag was 2 years older than El and was obviously growing up faster and once he became a teenager, well his eyes perked up and started noticing girls. He and El seemed to have drifted apart for several years but El always had him in her heart. But once El became a beautiful young girl, Jag noticed her and realized that he wanted her and he wanted her to be more than just his friend. Things started to develop between them and through this all, Jag was always a gentleman and never pressured El into anything even if she wanted to. He wanted to wait for the right time and that's what he did. They developed a beautiful relationship and once Jag got the offer to go pro, El decided that she wanted to follow him to wherever it was that he got drafted to and that's when their love got tested. People got in the way and rumors started flying. Could El trust Jag and believe that he only had eyes for her? Will Jag fall into temptation or will he be strong enough to be faithful to El?
Both El and Jag suffer somewhat in this book and even though they suffer, they also have their wonderful and great moments. I've fallen in love with this series so far. It breaks my heart to see what these two individuals go through with lies and deceit that gets in the way of their happiness.
Book 2: Jag's POV: Jag has lost the love of his life due to rumors and lies. He now has to decide if she is the person he loves and if she's worth fighting for. Jagger really works his tail off to try and get El back and it's going to be one hell of a fight to try and convince her that everything that has been said is nothing but lies. He would never in a million years cheat on El because he has never had eyes for anyone but her. El is conflicted and doesn't know if she should believe Jag or if it's best to just stay broken up. Jag goes over and beyond to prove to Ellen that she's it for him and he's never loved anyone but her. Can Jag convince her of his love, can Ellen believe him and take him back?
Jag goes through one hell of a roller coaster in this book trying to prove to Ellen that he loves her and only her and it kills me to see him suffer through this ordeal to try and win Ellen back and have to feel how broken he is and everything he goes through just for this one woman that has stolen his heart since they were children. Jag really takes my breath away and I wish there could be men out in this world like him. I'm sure there are -- but they're hard to find!
Book 3: Both POV's: This last book really puts their love to the test. After everything they both have been through, can they survive their love? Both Ellen and Jagger really have some serious talking to do in order to make their love survive and make it work. But now that Ellen has a new man in her life, she seems to be confused and doesn't know what she wants. She knows she loves Jag but she's enjoying her new man's company. He showers her with attention and that's the one thing she's always wanted from Jagger. She wanted his attention and his protection. All she craved was Jag. But Jagger was new to the whole fame thing and didn't think about Ellen's feelings and just went with what his agent wanted from him. But Jagger soon realizes that Ellen is not worth losing and he will do whatever it takes to get his girl back and boy does Jag go out with a bang in this book!
I loved the whole dual POV's. Loved that the first book was El's POV, second was Jag's POV and the third book had both POV's. Jagger was a true lover at heart. Not once did he do any harm or wrong and he really, really, really tried hard to please his girl. Jagger had my heart since book one. Things happen and confusion always plays a part in our lives and causes problems, especially when there is no communication. Ellen lacked communication and wasn't straightforward with Jagger in telling him exactly what he was doing wrong with their relationship. It took Jagger a while to figure that out and caused some serious pain and heartache.
Loved, loved this series and I can't express how much I loved both Ellen and Jagger. She was a feisty one that's for sure, and I loved her courage and determination to stand her ground at times. She sure knew how to play the "hard to get" part when she left him the first time, and that's the way to do it. But it tore my heart how they both had to suffer and everything they went through. Jag's courage and determination is what I loved about this series. He would stop at nothing to get Ellen and he fought tooth and nail for her and the things he had to go through to prove his love was true and genuine.
I totally recommend this series, you will fall in love with this series as much as I did ;)
I have to say with all the twist and turns that I really did enjoy these books. I was a Jag fan from the beginng and to say that El kept getting on my nerves would be about right. For someone who claims shes a strong and independant person she sure didn't show it more of a insecure person. But overall I really enjoyed this set.
amazing trilogy! can't believe how much I loved this set of books. watching as Ellen and Jag go from kids to adults as love takes hold and moves them forward
Their friendship started when they were children. Their love for each other was always there. They went through a lot before realizing their own short comings. Their story is amazing and their parents and were great. I highly recommend this series.
The love affair between Ellen Love and Jagger Jensen spans about twenty five years and bridges three books that start with El's POV in book one Discovering Us which is from childhood through college. Book two Finding Us is told in Jag's POV and sums up Jag's version of their childhood and then their relationship up until the gut wrenching cliffhanger in book one and picks up right afterwards and this book also leaves you hanging. Book three Finally Us is told in dual POV's and starts a few months after book two's not so nice cliffhanger but finally sees these two through to their HEA in a epilogue that makes it all worth it in the end. On a whole this series was well done with just enough angst / drama to keep me entertained and as always the steamy sex was an added bonus too. I was very very glad that I was able to read these books back to back because the way the cliffhangers left it having to wait would have really been painful. El is five when she discovers a friendship / puppy love with her friend Jag who is seven and this epic romance starts while growing up on the same block just outside of Chicago. These two are best friends playing every day after school and then in the summers from sun up until sun down they are inseparable until about five years later Jag discovers girls that are not El and it breaks her heart. El finally gets over Jag "ditching" her and for years not talking to her until suddenly she blossoms into what all the boys consider a "hottie". Seemingly out of no where Jag decides he wants to befriend El again now that she is sixteen and beautiful and can't stand the thought of her with someone else. This is where their romantic relationship starts and while innocent for years it eventually steams up while they are in college and then is scorching hot in later years. Jagger on a whole is a good guy but he makes stupid guys choices and really doesn't think of any consequences to his actions which cause many miscommunications and hurt feelings through out their relationship up until they finally get it together. El is determined to do two things - become a physical therapist, and love Jagger Jensen but when Jag turns pro and plays baseball for the Dodgers in Los Angeles things start to change for El and Jag. El transfers to USC to attend the physical therapy program and live with Jag but she did not sign up for all the drama that comes with dating a professional athlete most of all Jag's scumbag agent! After all the ups and downs and break ups and reunions the one thing that always stays true is the love these two share. I really enjoyed this series and will definitely read more of this authors work :)
I am going to start off by saying OH MY GOD if this isn’t the sweet love story I ever read…… I read this trilogy and completely fell in love with it. I didn’t stop reading until the end of the 3rd book. For starters I love the boy next door stories. I especially love how Harper took you through the years of their lives. I truly felt the love and pain from both Ellen and Jagger. Their love for each other was like no other!
Book 1 is written from Ellen’s POV. This book started at the age of 5 the major crush El had on Jag. Jag being a boy didn’t have a clue. He also didn’t have a clue about the different stages of love and hurt El went through after the crush began. I thought this story was simply amazing the way the author let you see the character grow from children with a crush to mature adults with a love that will make your heart race a mile a minute. They went through a fun loving friendship, he don’t notice me anymore heart break, long distance I wait for you forever long distance love, I’ll do anything for the love of my life. To what the hell happen to all my happiness that turned upside down in a matter of months with jealous, misunderstandings, and selfishness. In this book you will love and hate Jag all the same. Book 2 is written in Jag POV of view where you learn that Jagger was just being a young man new to the big leagues. Yes, he was selfish and couldn’t see how much his actions were hurting the love of his life, but he was also a man that was completely in love. He thought his love was enough not knows that it’s all about make El feel love. What made me love Jag more was he wasn’t willing to give up on his relationship, he was ready and willing to fight to win back the trust and love of Ellen. To take the cake book 3 was in dual POV of El and Jag. This book bought it home. I was full of excitement. It took you on the rollercoaster ride of your life. . Things started to fall into place and love between these two stood on solid ground. The trust and loyalty settled into place, and they finally got it right and learned from all those past mistakes. And to top it all off the book ended with an Epilogue that truly melted your heart. It was all roses and sunshine in giving a reader all they could hope for in the conclusion. It you want a beautiful journey take a plunge with El and Jag. You won’t regret one bit of your sleepless night. I gave with trilogy a sparkling 4 stars. Keep the love coming Harper.
Review for True Love: The Trilogy by Harper Bentley
Review done for Hooked on Books
4 ½ out of 5 stars
This trilogy was fantastic. I loved Ellen and Jagger!
Book 1, Discovering Us, was from Ellen’s pov. It starts when Ellen was 5 and Jagger was 7 and they had their first kiss.
Ellen had been in love with Jagger since they were little. They were great friends until they drifted apart in high school. In his senior year, Jagger noticed that El was a beautiful young woman now and he could not fight the attraction they had with each other.
Because of the age difference, Jagger ended up going off to college while El was still in high school. The long distance thing was tough on them. Jagger is a star pitcher and gets drafted to the Dodgers; unfortunately taking him farther away from El.
El decided to transfer to a college in LA to be with Jagger. Unfortunately with their young ages, new settings, and misunderstandings, their relationship crumbles. El is still pretty immature, not to say she shouldn’t have been upset about most things, but her age sure didn’t help.
Jagger is living the highlife; he has found success in the baseball world, is now rich, and has a beautiful girlfriend. He is also naïve when it comes to the real world and what people want from you. He doesn’t see all the things that are coming between him and El.
Book 2, Finding Us, continues with El and Jagger’s story but is in Jagger’s pov.
Jagger is so hot and sweet. It was touching how much he loved El. It was also super nice to see him not be a male whore and sleep with every chick he met when they were broken up.
In this book Jagger does a lot of soul searching and decides that he is not letting El go without a fight.
Book 3, Finally Us, is Jagger’s chance to win El back. He gets traded to their hometown, and is finally close to El.
People are still trying to keep El and Jagger apart. When they try to go their separate ways, they realize that they cannot live without one another. They have to dig deep and fight for their love.
I thought this was a great series. It was a fun, sexy story. I really liked Jagger and El in the end, grew up into a wonderful woman.

Really enjoyed this series. It is a very sweet romantic story i found and i love how it went through the years and through different POVs. It was most certainly a journey with Jag and Ellen and a roller coaster one at that. If life events where not getting in the way there was people and feelings thwarting them. But that made the book all the more enjoyable. The added sweetener to the story was most certainly the best friends aspect it just made everything more intense as at the heart of it all was a friendship first then romance and how hard it is for the characters to want one without damaging the other aspect of their relationship. Firmly recommend this book and a purchased as a set it is even better as then you can binge read it, especially this summer coming up i feel or over a weekend relaxing
Ellen and Jagger were meant to be together, but life and fame happened. It is very true to life though. Very few men/women handle sudden fame and money well. The sports world is littered with broken relationships and hearts. Jagger really tried but he fell for the oldest trick in the trade, appearances.
Their struggles, break up, heart ache, the b..faced interloper, devilish agents spanned the three books. There was no dull moment though. I struggled with Ellen, cried with her, then got mad, then cried... Anyways, you got the drill. The ending really got me. That was awesome. Will read more books by this author.
After all that has been set forth between Jag and Ellen, will they find their way? Will it be true love in the end? This set was remarkable! Well written and lovable characters that you can't help but to fall in love with! The story is relatable in so many ways! If you have read these books yet, I suggest you to hurry and gran yourself the box set! You will fall in love!
WOW what more can I say about this incredible story! I have not read this author before but oh boy will I now! Brilliant, funny, very insightful, entertaining and best of all a true CUBS fan! I love how El and Jags beautiful story spans out from being children and then discovering their true love! All of the other characters are well developed and loved how the author wove them throughout the story! This is a must read!
I bought the box set of this series and thank god I did, there are major cliffhangers at the end of books 1&2. Over all good story, with steam sex scenes. I managed to read all of them and not skim, so I know they were good.
The heroine, Ellen (El) has some TSTL moments in book two and into book three, but nothing that I couldn't read through.
Wow!!! What an amazing series! El and Jag welcome to my favorite couple list!!!! Written in a way that makes you feel every little drop of their chemistry, that book will give you butterflies, will make you hold your breath and rock your world!! Very romantic and sweet, hot and addictive, be ready to go on the wonderful ride that is Ellen Rose and Jagger Jensen.... You won't be able to put it down!!!!
True love indeed as after all that they've been through, one thing remains the same, their complete and total love for each other. El and Jag were a gorgeous couple and I loved reading about them. Having met as kids, their love and friendship blossom into a fantastic read. What a page turner; well worth the five stars. A must read.
I really enjoyed this series. I liked the way the first book started from Jag and Ellen's childhood. Jag was such a gentleman when they went to the prom. I really, really loved the last book in the series. Everything worked out in the end. Great book. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
15 stars, what can I say 5 stars for each book. I absolutely loved this trilogy. This was a beautiful love story about two souls that were meant to be together. I loved reading about El and Jag's journey and what a beautiful love story. This is a must have buy it you won't be disappointed.
I loved loved loved every single word of this epic love story. I felt physical jealousy of Jag and El's love for each other. And now I feel bereft because the story is finished. Harper Bentley is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.
So glad I didn't have to wait to read all three. The stories are well written with very human characters that struck a chord with me. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone who wants a great read with interesting characters that show they are not perfect.
What did I not like.i will be looking for all books by author.she is great.i read the book in one sitting and had so much fun with the ups and down. Good Job!!!
