Nothing ever changes in Syracuse… Until one fateful day when 15-year-old Faith Walker finds herself at the mall with her mother. As she wanders the hectic surroundings, she notices a strange man following her. Everywhere she turns, he seems to be right behind her, and an unsettling feeling grips her. Unable to shake the feeling she’s in danger, Faith’s world takes a terrifying turn when she wakes up in the trunk of a car, miles from home. With time running out, she must muster every ounce of strength to escape before it’s too late. Lucky for her, Detective Marello will stop at nothing to find her, even if it means confronting the forgotten memories of his past. As the clock ticks down, one wrong move could cost Faith everything. Will Detective Marello bring her home in time? Or will history repeat itself?
Never Forgotten completely pulled me in from the very beginning. What starts as a tense survival thriller slowly unfolds into something much deeper and more emotional. I loved how the story kept revealing new layers with every chapter, and the multiple POVs made the mystery even more addictive to piece together.
What really stood out to me was how strongly the book explored trauma, grief, guilt, and revenge. The suspense kept me hooked, but the emotional depth is what made the story stay with me afterward. Every reveal felt impactful, and I appreciated how all the different storylines connected by the end.
The pacing was fast, the tension was constant, and there were several moments that genuinely caught me off guard. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with emotional weight and interconnected twists, Never Forgotten is definitely worth reading.
Faith Walker is your average 15-year-old: a student, a cheerleader, and bored out of her mind with her city—except for Destiny Mall, one of the largest malls in the country. 🛍️
While running errands with her mom, Faith notices the same man everywhere she goes. Hours later, he’s still there…watching her. No shopping bags. No reason to still be around. Then she overhears parts of his phone call mentioning a red Honda Civic…and possibly her. 🚘
When Faith tells her mom she feels uneasy, her concerns are brushed off, and she’s sent alone to wait in the car parked in a nearly deserted parking garage. 🅿️
But when her mother finally gets there, Faith is gone. The only thing left behind is her set of keys. 🔑
Now detectives are racing against time to find her, and as evidence begins to surface, they realize Faith may not be the first victim…they could be hunting a serial killer. 🔪

I don’t even know where to begin with my thoughts on this book—I loved it. Since I’m familiar with the setting, it was so easy to immerse myself in the story. I could vividly picture everything from beginning to end, especially the creepy parking garage, which added an extra layer of tension. The suspense had me breaking old habits and biting my nails.
This was a fantastic debut novel, and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
When 15 year-old Faith Walker goes to the mall with her mom to run some simple errands experiences some strange and unwanted activity and then wind up unfortunately, being abducted, she finds herself in the fight of her life.
What I liked: - the FMCs wits and drive to succeed! (Not just to survive) - The format of the book: this story unfolds with an hour by hour breakdown and you also get alternating points of view between the victim and detective who is against the clock to solve the crime - The insane twist at the end and the authors attention to detail and well thought out planning with how it all tied together - How insanely bingeable this book was
Final verdict? This is a YES for me!
This is really a great debut! This book holistic was VERY well done.
Thank you to the author for a the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy and share my honest opinions!

A faced paced suspense thriller that you won’t want to put down! Told from multiple POV about a teenager that’s is kidnapped and the detective trying to find her. This story could easily be a true crime scenario with some surprising turn of events. Excited to see what else Tayanna writes
I’m always excited to pick up a debut. There’s something fun about discovering a fresh voice before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. “Never Forgotten” has that “just one more chapter” energy, and once it kicks into gear, it moves fast.
Thanks to the author for this #giftedARC and the opportunity to join her ARC team. All opinions are my own.
Faith Walker is just trying to survive a mall trip with her mom when she gets that skin-crawling feeling someone’s watching. She spots the same creeper more than once, tells her mom, and gets bruhsed off because retail therapy is more important than stranger danger. Really, Mom? She gets sent to the car, and—surprise—Faith has vanished.
It starts out like your classic kidnapping thriller, but then it swerves into darker, messier territory. I was not prepared for the emotional gut-punch. The revenge angle is sneaky, and the big reveal is an absolute Banger.
The first half takes its time, but the second half is full throttle. It’s a speedy read, perfect for devouring in one go if you can dodge real life for a few hours. I love a book that stirs up chaos and knows when to make an exit.
Faith is a tenacious victim, and I loved that she wasn’t just sitting around waiting to be rescued. She pushes back, pays attention, and gives her captor more trouble than he bargained for. Good for you, Faith! Make him sweat.
The detectives also bring their own baggage into the story, which adds some nice layers without taking the focus away from Faith. Both of them had interesting roles to play as the case unfolded.
By the time the twists started dropping, I was fully hooked. And that ending left me wondering if there’s more coming. If this turns into a series, sign me up.
For a debut, “Never Forgotten” shows a lot of promise. It’s dark, twisty, emotional, and just messy enough to keep my thriller brain happy. I’ll definitely be watching to see what Tayanna Marrie writes next.
I finished this one around midnight because I absolutely had to know how it ended.
The story follows Faith, a teenager who becomes convinced someone is watching her while she’s out running errands with her mom. The more she tries to explain what she’s seeing, the more she’s told she’s imagining things or overreacting.
And then she disappears.
She wakes up in the trunk of a vehicle with no idea who took her, where she’s being taken, or why.
Y de allí… the adrenaline never really stops.
One of my favorite things about this book was the pacing. The chapters are short, the clock is constantly ticking, and every chapter reminds you how much time has passed since Faith was taken. It gave the story a real sense of urgency and made it feel like I was watching one of those crime documentaries where every hour matters.
The investigation is led by Detective Marello, who is dealing with more than just a missing person case. As he searches for Faith, he’s also forced to confront parts of his own past, including a case that still haunts him years later. I found myself just as invested in his storyline as I was in Faith’s.
I also appreciated that Faith wasn’t written as a helpless victim waiting around to be rescued. She was smart, observant, and constantly looking for ways to survive and escape, which made the tension feel even stronger.
The pacing never dragged, the suspense kept building, and there were several twists I didn’t see coming. I will admit the final reveal was a lot for my tired midnight brain to process, but I was fully entertained from beginning to end.
Overall, this was a fast-paced, high-suspense thriller that kept me turning pages long past my bedtime, and that’s usually a pretty good sign.
Thank you to Tayanna Marrie for the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
Never Forgotten ended up surprising me in the best way possible.
What initially felt like a straightforward kidnapping/serial killer thriller slowly evolved into something much darker and emotionally layered, a story centered around trauma, revenge, corruption, and the long-term damage violence leaves behind.
The strongest aspect of the novel for me was Jamie Morris. She became far more nuanced than I expected. Rather than feeling like a one-dimensional antagonist, she represented what can happen when trauma and rage are left unresolved for too long. Her storyline ultimately elevated the entire book.
The second half was significantly stronger than the first. Once the major reveals began unfolding, the pacing tightened and the emotional stakes became much more compelling. I especially appreciated that the ending didn’t completely tie everything up neatly. Letting Morris escape was absolutely the right narrative choice and made the story feel more haunting in the end.
There were still some weaker elements throughout — particularly occasional overly dramatic dialogue and an epilogue that leaned a little too clean and convenient emotionally, but overall, the emotional payoff and final act worked very well for me.
I recently had a baby, and while I've had the desire to read, I've struggled to find the energy to actually pick up a book without getting tired.
But Tayanna's book? It had me sneaking chapters in during 4 a.m. feeds. 😂
For me, a truly great book is one I can't stop thinking about when I'm not reading it. The kind that has me constantly wanting to get back to it. This book absolutely did that.
As more of a fantasy reader, one of my biggest struggles with thrillers and crime novels is needing to be hooked from the very beginning. If the prologue or first chapter doesn't grab me, I struggle to continue. Well, this book had me hooked immediately. There were so many questions that needed answers, and I was only a few pages in. That's exactly how you start a book like this!
The characters made me feel every emotion alongside them. I felt their fear, their frustration, and their anger. There were also twists I never saw coming, which kept me on my toes right from the start.
The writing flows effortlessly, making it incredibly easy to fall into the story. Before I knew it, I was flipping back to previous chapters, trying to piece together clues and work out whether my theories were on the right track. I felt like a detective trying to solve the mystery myself. 😂
If you're looking for a book that grabs your attention from page one and refuses to let go, this one definitely deserves a spot on your TBR.
Debut Novel 📖 by Tayanna Marrie- Never Forgotten ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
Thank you so much for having me on this team. It’s been such a privilege and pleasure to be able to read this book early 😍
This is a story of a girl named Faith, who just like any other 15 year old is bored with her life. Nothing ever changes in Syracuse..Until one afternoon when Faith and her mom are at the mall. Faith notices someone following her , she tries to get her mom to listen, but her mom just thinks she’s being dramatic.
That quickly changes when Faith indeed is taken from the malls parking garage.
Will Faith survive ? Will detective Martello get to her in time, or will history repeat itself ?
This book has everything a good thriller should have, suspense, tension and lots of twists. It had me hooked from the start! I love when a book starts with the middle of the story, especially if it’s a slow burn, it gives me a peak of what’s to come and it keeps me wanting more.
This book has the perfect pace though, so I never felt bored reading, instead I found it hard to put down because I couldn’t wait to find out if Faith would survive and how everything was connected in the end.
What a great debut novel and I can’t wait to read more!
Disclosure: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tayanna has absolutely blown my mind with this book! 🤯 Just when I thought I had the whole mystery worked out and the ending figured out... I didn’t. The twists and turns are so well executed, and the suspense is constant.
The story is centered around 15-year-old Faith Walker, who is followed by a stranger at a mall and eventually wakes up in the trunk of a car miles from home. Reading her struggle to escape while Detective Marello fights to track her down and deal with the shadows of his own past kept me completely hooked. The tension was so high that I honestly could not put this one down until the final page. 📖
I love how the story was left open-ended for another book rather than ending on a cliffhanger. It was handled so perfectly that it gives a sense of closure while still leaving me desperate for a sequel! 🙌 I seriously HOPE there is a second one coming because I’m not ready to leave these characters behind yet.
If you’re into fast-paced thrillers that keep you guessing and leave the door open for more, you definitely need to grab this one as soon as it's released!
Set in the seemingly quiet town of Syracuse, Never Forgotten begins with an ordinary day that quickly spirals into teenager’s worst nightmare. Fifteen year old Faith Walker is just trying to get through a boring shopping trip when she notices a man watching her. When she realizes she’s being followed and her mother is not taking her seriously, her life is ripped away from normalcy, and she finds herself trapped, fighting for survival with nothing but her instincts.
The story unfolds through dual perspectives—Faith’s chilling experience and Detective Marello’s relentless investigation. The tension builds steadily, with short, sharp chapters that keep you turning pages without pause. The author does a great job of maintaining suspense, constantly reminding you that time is running out. The emotional stakes are high, and you can’t help but root for Faith every step of the way.
The story grips you with its realism and doesn’t shy away from showing how quickly things can go wrong.
The novel is a compelling read which is perfect for anyone who enjoys fast paced thrillers with strong characters and high emotional stakes.
Never Forgotten begins as a tense survival thriller and gradually reveals itself to be something far more psychological.
What initially appears to be a story about abduction and survival evolves into an examination of how trauma continues to shape lives long after the original event has ended. Through multiple clearly labeled perspectives, the novel steadily expands its mystery while exploring themes of justice, revenge, guilt, and resilience.
The pacing kept me engaged, and I enjoyed seeing how each new reveal expanded the story. While some of the later connections felt a little far-fetched, I appreciated how thoroughly the author tied everything together by the end.
What stood out most to me was the way the story explored the ripple effects of trauma. The thriller elements provide plenty of tension, but beneath the suspense is a deeper look at how a single act of violence can continue to impact lives for years afterward.
If you enjoy survival thrillers with psychological depth, interconnected storylines, and thought-provoking themes, Never Forgotten is worth picking up.
A fast, engaging read that offers more than just suspense.
Faith is a normal 15 year old girl who is hoping cheerleading will get her out of Syracuse. On a trip to the mall with her mom she feels like she is being watched but brushes it off until she keeps seeing the same man wherever she goes. She tells her mom and her mom tells her that she is being dramatic and to go wait in the car because she is making a scene. She begs her mom to believe her but she knows it’s no use. She goes to the car watching her surroundings and she thinks she is home free until a red car pulls up and blocks her way and she is taken. Detective Marello gets the call and goes to the scene. It brings up an old case from years ago that he still has nightmares about. He will not make the same mistakes again he will bring Faith home.
OMG this is a debut novel and it was so addictingly good! Once I started reading I could not put it down. The twists were so good and I did not see any of them coming! The ending had my jaw on the floor in the best way!

Teenager Faith Walker notices and finds it strange that everywhere she turns there's a man in the mall following her. At every point and every turn she makes he is there, just watching her. But why?
Fast-forward to Faith waking up realizing she has been abducted having woken up in the trunk of a car. Whose car is she in; where is this person taking her and more importantly why?
In this debut novel, it starts out like a slow-burn, building characters and setting the pace for a whirlwind, full, fast-paced story that makes you want to stay up to read, with the infamous mantra being thought, " Just one more chapter."
Well, this was a fun book! Short and action packed, it was a quick, entertaining read.
The story is told in two POV’s. Faith is at the mall when she is abducted. Detective Marello is assigned to her case, as he worked on a missing persons case over ten years ago. While he is trying his hardest to make sure he finds Faith, Faith is trying her hardest to escape. And you end up with quite an exciting read.
This book was so engaging I read the whole thing while on a 4 hour drive. I could not put it down. If you like fast paced thrillers, you’ll totally love this book!
Thank you so much to the author for the advanced copy of this book.
Never Forgotten is a fast paced, gripping read that hooked me from the very first page. The tension never lets up, making it nearly impossible to put down.
This story is both heartbreaking and hauntingly dark, filled with moments that left me holding my breath. The emotional weight and intensity linger long after finishing, creating a deeply unsettling yet unforgettable reading experience.
Tayanna Marrie delivers a powerful and raw story that stays with you. Thank you for sharing your story, and for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Not since gone girl was published have I devoured a physical book so quickly! Audiobook? Sure. I can whip through that in a single day of heavy chores around the house. But a physical book? Absolutely not. It usually takes me weeks to finish a physical book but I could not stop reading this debut by Tayanna Marrie.
If you love a fast paced thriller you absolutely MUST read Never Forgotten when it publishes on June 8!
LMK when you get to the end if your jaw was hanging on the floor like mine.
4.5 stars! While some parts of this story are fiction, other parts are based on the author’s real life experience which aided my experience as the reader. It read both as a thriller and a true crime novel! It emphasized the fact that the first 24 hours of a kidnapping are the most crucial by counting the hours at the start of every chapter. Only being 245 pages really made you feel the higher stakes of the investigation and the intensity of the fear and emotions felt by Faith, the main character. There was also the treat of a twist at the end which all thriller lovers enjoy!
4.5 ⭐️ — Honestly, this one really surprised me, in the best way possible.
I’d describe it as the perfect popcorn thriller: concise, engaging, and difficult to put down. The story moves quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
What intrigued me the most from the start was learning that the opening chapters are based on a true story. Knowing that the premise is something that could actually happen made the book even more unsettling and thought-provoking.
The writing was easy to follow, the pacing was fast, and the suspense kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next.
If you’re looking for a short, fast-paced thriller that will keep you hooked from beginning to end, this is definitely one to pick up.
I received this ARC from Tayanna Marrie. Thank you for that. This was a really quick read and kept me interested the whole time. It was a good story and I enjoyed it. I didn't see the twist at the end. If you are looking for a great, quick thriller this is the book for you.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This novel unlocks suspense early. The author clearly has good attention to detail in everyday life as noted by how fruitfully she can describe a mall (im sensing enneagram 6 energy).
The plot is unique in that the victim sees the crime coming from moment one. They are hyper aware... and correct.
Since this is the author's first novel, I like to include areas for growth. I encourage the author to do more "showing" over "telling" in some areas. I wish I *felt* more of what the main character felt.
Regardless, this is an amazing debut novel. Without a doubt, I'll pick up the author's future works.
