Fandom: Harry Potter -------------------------------------------------- Voldemort has made a bargain with Harry to stop killing muggles and muggle-borns (when at all possible, of course) in exchange for Harry's cooperation. While Harry thinks he's using the time to find a way to defeat the Dark Lord, he will realize that Voldemort is always one step ahead, and so long as he isn't killing anyone...what's the big deal? He has bigger things to worry about now, anyway. Includes dementors, pureblood culture, the prophecy, what exactly happened with Lily's sacrifice, magical breakthroughs, children Death Eaters, and portraits of family.
this took me quite some time to read (it is rather long), but it was well worth it. fantastic writing and world building. loved this different take on their seventh year.
Long but complex to follow, most of the time the reader is floating around and wondering when the plot will come together. Too romancey and too detailled at that, too.
What a great adventure! There were some controversial issues, for sometimes the right things to do are not easy -- or even, good from moral aspects, yet the ideas present are enlightening.
However, for Drarry fans, do notice the author's wording "final pairing", meaning Harry had been with other character before he and Draco got together, and there also were explicit sex scenes (and thankfully the author did warn beforehand). Also, the story is NOT about their love story, it's part of it indeed, but only about one-fourth of the whole story (and that doesn't count in the prequel).
Since the author had changed some of the backgrounds of the characters, I wouldn't say they are out of character, but I did find some notions I'm not comfortable with:
Regardless, as an AU of HBP, it's fascinating and thoughtful. Hope you enjoy it as well!
PS. There seemed to be some clues the author didn't finish collecting. What's the effect of the second potion Harry had been given in the Apothecary in 'Black, in the Smothering Dark'?
