Wow, this was exactly what I needed to pull me out of a reading slump!
From the very first page I was completely hooked and ended up reading it in a single sitting. It was one of those books that was so easy to get lost in that I simply didn’t want to put it down.
I absolutely loved Olivia and found myself rooting for her throughout. Her story felt genuine, heartfelt and relatable, and I really enjoyed getting to know both her and her family. The relationships and family dynamics added so much warmth and heart to the story, making it feel incredibly authentic.
Bryony Gordon’s writing flowed effortlessly, balancing humour, emotion and important themes perfectly. I found myself fully invested in Olivia’s journey and eager to see how everything would unfold.
This book reminded me exactly why I love reading and was the perfect cure for a reading slump. I genuinely couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I’d love to see Bryony Gordon write more fiction because this was an absolute joy to read.
A warm, uplifting and thoroughly enjoyable read that I devoured in one sitting.
Good, waiting for it to be great. It’s Marian Keyes x Sophie Kinsella core. Generally readable but pacing is off - too fast at the end and too much focus on different plot parts (career vs family) that then make it feel a bit of a chore to get back into eg the career plot line after spending so long with the family one. People pleasing stuff and dialogue believable and realistic and relatable largely. The sudden switch up at the start is farcical but there’s a sense that it’s knowingly unrealistic - and there’s a joy in that. Relationships are decent. Characters are somewhat well developed but any character development happens too suddenly.
Overall though enjoyed - it’s a holiday read and largely light. Interesting and fun plot. Would recommend to others as a holiday read
