ONE HAUNTED FAIR. TWO STRANGERS. THREE DEADLY LEVELS.
Nadia never wanted to go to the haunted fair after what happened two Halloweens ago. But when her best friend promises her one harmless night of fun, she reluctantly agrees.
That’s when she catches the attention of the lumberjack, hidden behind a mask as a scare-actor. He only saw her once, but it was enough to spark an obsession he can’t contain. Now, he stalks through every level of the fair, twisting each attraction into his own deadly game. With every step, Nadia is pulled deeper into his orb, where fear tangles with desire, and escape slips further from reach.
Because a lumberjack is nothing without his muse. And this Halloween, he’ll make sure she never escapes.
Author's His to Fear is a dark, horror romance novella. Full trigger warning inside the book
Rainelyn is an independent author whose books explore themes of darkness and gothic, as well as troubled characters and their unusual love stories. With her writing style and twisted stories, she is well known for making her readers' hearts swell with all the emotions and imagery she evokes in her books. She loves to write anything that involves steam, danger, depraved darkness, and morally ambiguous characters that ride the line between good and evil. When she’s not writing, she enjoys cuddling with her dog and partner, aka her real-life book boyfriend. She is a sucker for gaming, listening to music, and creating new book adventures.
This book...all be it short was perfect! The way Rainelyn kept the stranger's name secret til the very end of the book was deliciously divine. You knew his secret from the start, but the moments that he showed care for Nadia made you fall for him. It was wonderfully written. I appreciate the translation guide she gave. I definitely want the first one and will be rereading this one.
This book was our erotic horror perfection. And it was the perfect horrifying experience to read before Halloween! Because I love an obsessed serial killer mmc, who’s bloodthirsty but also loves her a lot. They’re all kinds of wrong but it’s okay because it feels right. This book was creepy, smutty goodness. So recommend this for my erotic horror people
His To Fear is a lush sexy little spooky novella, perfect for you morally grey lovers out there. It's the perfect Halloween novella that can be read in one sitting, but that being said, it would fit perfectly throughout any time of year for you horror girl’s! While it is short, it packs a punch, there are a few scenes in this book that will most definitely stay with me, most notably the axe scene which is incredibly sexy... 🧎♀️
Two Halloweens ago, something horrific happened to Nadia, it changed her life... it changed who she was... but when her best friend suggests that they go to a Halloween fair this year, Nadia reluctantly agrees. She can’t keep living in her past, it’s time to say goodbye to her trauma and continue living. So when they arrive, it seems like a normal night out with her bestie and her men... trouble can't find them twice right??
When she catches the attention of a lumberjack queued up with his friends, he seems like a normal every day guy out for fun with his work friends but... the moment he catches her eye... is the moment his mask slips into place. See, life hasn’t been easy for him either... but tonight is the night he finally gets his retribution. 🤌
This book will make you question your morals, along with Nadia... but when a 6’4 man in a mask with an axe tells you he wants you? What are you to do? 💀👀
His To Fear is available now on amazon and KU, its an easy one sitting read, perfect for you fading to black girls that something steamy for Halloween.
This book was an absolute rollercoaster in the spookiest amusement park ever.....dark, haunting, and heartbreakingly beautiful. The vibes? Immaculate. I swear, every moment in Gravewoods Fair felt like walking through a dream wrapped in mist and moonlight.
And Maddox and Nadia? OH. MY. GOSH. Their chemistry was explosive. They were so freakin’ sexy and devastatingly beautiful together. Maddox had this insane mix of gentleness and danger....the kind of man who could make your heart race just by standing there with an axe in his hand 👀🔥 (I’m still drooling, not gonna lie.)
Nadia, my soft-hearted baddie 🖤 I adored her strength, her pain, her resilience. The way she kept pushing through her trauma broke me. I wanted to hug her so bad every time she felt that quiet longing. She deserves the world.
Together, they healed each other....two broken souls finding peace in the most haunting way. When Maddox thought, “Nothing can hurt me here. Nor anything can hurt her. Two broken souls connecting in the only way they know how.” I felt that. Deeply.
Overall, His To Fear was one of the best spooky obsessions I’ve ever read....beautifully written, fast-paced, and addictively dark. Rainelyn’s writing never lets you breathe (in the best way possible).
So yes, good luck surviving this spooky season and don’t forget to add this hauntingly beautiful novella to your TBR RIGHT NOW! 🫵🏻
This was such a spooky steamy novella romance! I really enjoyed it and it is a perfect read if you are looking for a dark halloween romance to read. With every step, Nadia is pulled deeper into his orb, where fear tangles with desire, and escape slips further from reach. Because a lumberjack is nothing without his muse. And this Halloween, he’ll make sure she never escapes. I really enjoyed the haunted house parts! Nadia doesn't like them at all but she goes along for her friend. Seeing her relax when this stranger arrives was fun to watch as she doesn't know him but does trust him for some reason. Thanks to Rainelyn for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
His to Fear by Rainelyn was such a wild, fast, and deliciously dark ride. I’m obsessed with this series, and this one might just be my favorite yet. Horror meets romance in the most addictive way possible.
A haunted fair, a masked lumberjack, and a whole lot of tension. Maddox and Nadia had me hooked from the first page. His obsession? Unreal. Her fear? Palpable. The way those two collided had me devouring every word like it was candy at the fair.
It’s short but packed with everything I crave: dark atmosphere, twisted attraction, and spice that hits hard and fast. Axe play? New kink unlocked lol. The visuals alone were enough to make me fan myself.
These novellas are so dangerously good that I always end up mad when they’re over. I could read a full-length version of this story in a heartbeat.
💫 5/5 stars 🔥 5/5 spice Bloody, bold, and seriously addictive. Rainelyn owns dark, twisted romance and keeps me coming back for more every single time.
such a good, short but very exhilarating read ! With the perfect spooky vibes in a dark Gravewood fair , where you don’t know if it’s all still a game. Are you ready to give up your fear even when everything in your heart tells you it’s SO FREAKING WRONG?
Nadia was literally internally fighting for her life because of terrible things which happend years ago. They wanted just have fun with her best friends and her men.
It’s all gory , very intense chemistry between Nadia and the hot masked stranger which she just met there. They both like to play with fire and omg did I enjoy to read how they lust for each other ❤️🔥
two broken souls who found each other even if it’s was twisted and sick.
If you’re looking up for a hot, quick read for Halloween which will have you in all your feels then pick up this story !
His To Fear, book 2 in the Nightmare Attraction series, is my first book by author Rainelyn, and I look forward to many more! The book is a dark horror romance novella packed full of trigger warnings! It's the perfect book for a bit of spice with your spooky reads.
The book follows Nadia and her friends as they go to a haunted fair. After the terrifying events of two Halloweens ago, Nadia refuses to go until her best friend persuades her. At the haunted fair, she catches the attention of the masked lumberjack, who becomes obsessed with her.
The novella is fast-paced, bloody, and oh-so-addictive! Their chemistry was intense! What's a little axe play between two adults?! My only complaint? I wanted more more more! LOL!
Thanks to Rainelyn for gifting me an eARC of His To Fear. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a perfect Halloween novella, short, spooky, and SPICY in all the right ways 👀💀. I couldnt for one second put down this book. This book had everything that I ever loved which is dark tension and morally grey energy with a hint of should I be scared or ....😉
Nadia has been through something horrific that completely changed her life and when her best friend (Eveline from Theirs to Chase) drags her to the same Halloween fair she definitely wasn’t expecting to catch the eye of a masked lumberjack with an axe and the moment he catches her eye, it was game over! The chase, the obsession and the spice was SOO GOOD! I was questioning everything!
No one does Halloween, morally grey and twisted books like Rainelyn!
His To Fear is a part of the interconnected series, which features Theirs to Chase.
I loved this novella. i just so wish it was a lot longer. We get the joys of seeing Eveline and her boys when they take the lovely Nadia to another haunted fair exactly a year after the traumatic night at the annual fair. Surely, what happened last year won't happen again. Would it? It was dark, mysterious, gorey, and spicy. There is an instant connection between these two, and when you mix fear, excitement, and arousal, it's a combination that will blow anyones mind.
This is for anyone who loves a good gorey horror with added spiciness.
If you like masked men, stalker vibes, obsessive vibes, and a lumberjack look no further, this should be your next Halloween read. I was pulled in right from the beginning, and it didn’t let go until the very last page. This was a very quick, and fast-paced dark Halloween romance novella. I enjoyed every second of it, I also read, and loved the first one “Theirs To Chase” last week. This one has everything I want in a Halloween horror romance, a haunted fair with haunted houses, and a masked lumberjack that gets obsessed with the main character for no reason at all. This book left me wanting more from this couple, and I highly recommend you read this and the first one this Halloween. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I can’t wait to read more from Rainelyn. I gave this book 5⭐️’s.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this story. It hooked me from the start and never slowed down. It’s fast-paced, intense, and has just the right amount of spice woven into the tension and emotion. I actually expected it to be darker based on the trigger warnings, but I didn’t mind that at all.
And that scene with the axe? Absolutely unforgettable.
Short, addictive, and surprisingly emotional, this one was an easy five stars for me.
This novella was a quick and fun read! I loved Theirs to Chase so much, and I highly anticipated this story to release.
I love Halloween novellas that take place in a carnival or fair setting, and this one gave me all the chills and has me so excited for Devil’s Night in a few days!
It’s spicy, enough plot to keep you hooked and gives you just enough gore and horror.
Rainelyn is such an angel and I would recommend this to anyone looking for something quick to get you into a spooky mood 😮💨
Top quote: "We all bear our scars. Some more visible than others.”
Thoughts: this is a great kick and spicy read for Halloween season. I loved the mmc and the fmc grew on me, I felt bad for her honestly - I wish this was longer with more spice, g0re, and character screen time. I always love the vibes Rainelyn brings to her books and this one did not miss at all.
Book quotes: 🪓 masked man 🩸 st@lker & obsessed mmc 🪓 axe play 🩸 slasher vibes 🪓 bl0od obsession 🩸 size kink
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. The following review represents my honest opinion.
Based on the trigger warnings, I was expecting this novella to be a bit darker but I'm not complaining. I honestly would've been happy reading a longer-length version of this story because the plot and the spice are so well done. This is an excellent example of a dark romance novella because it's well thought out but also fast paced. I definitely enjoyed it!
A stand alone in a connected series. I had not read the previous book but definitely plan on going back to it—I feel like it will only enrich this story as there are continuing characters.
So while this was a short one, I absolutely adored it. Very real trauma, obsessive MMC, unhinged, dark, toxic…a perfect pre-Halloween treat.
I received an advanced reader copy for free and am leaving a review voluntarily.
Again, I absolutely devoured this one. Has some spice (who doesn't love some axe play?) And I love that Maddox is obsessed with Nadia. Also, love the fact that he's a tank compared to her (as someone who's 5'1 myself 😅) again, my only issue is these novellas are addicting and I hate when they end lol

You go to a haunted house experience but the experience you get is far more intense than you bargain for. That's what happened to Nadia she went with her friends to try to get over trauma but she ends up finding a psycho hottie instead. I was very entertained ten out of 10 highly recommend.
As soon as I seen that the mmc were a masked lumberjack, I said sign me tf up pls 😭 Axe play? SIGN ME UP. Thank you to the author for giving me an arc copy. I loved every second of this. Fast paced, spooky, and smutty. This was the perfect novella for me to get into the halloween spirit. The only issue that I had was that I want more!! Which is a me problem lol.
2.75 stars ⭐️This was an entertaining, creepy but delicious lil Halloween novella treat. A Halloween creepy carnival and a sexy masked lumberjack who is obsessed with you 🔥 yes please. My complaint is that it was too quick with not enough spice or time with our sexy lumberjack because it was abit too focused on the settings and the carnival which stole the “ screen time” with our characters.
Fantastic novella, perfect for this time of year. If you haven't read theirs to chase you can still read and enjoy this book but a few bits in the book will make you smile if you've have. Check the triggers and get ready for the horror attraction
Oh... this... was... ahem! hot 🫣 So hot I almost feel guilty for enjoying it. Almost 😏
Didn't our parents warn us not to talk to strangers? Especially the one who pinned you to a tree and decided to cage you with an axe 😏 But I guess 'axe-wielding tree pinning' wasn't in the handbook. Lucky me 😁
Nadia is promised a Halloween night of fun at the haunted fair but after what happened 2 yrs ago shes sceptical as she should be as the lumberjack Maddoxs obsession knows no bounds well written steamy quick stalker obsessive halloween romance
Absolutely loved and devoured this. Couldn't put it down. It's a quick read. If masked stalkers and slasher vibes are your thing then this is definitely for you. Check TWs and give it a shot, won't be disappointed.
Fabulously dark! Spicy horror novella, very dark please seek author notes for content awareness. Loved this book and I sat and devoured the whole thing! If you’re looking for a Spicy horror to heat you up, this is a place to start.
This is a short and spicy read! I felt like it was a little slow to start but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down! It takes place at a haunted fair! 🎡 A lumberjack is nothing without his muse!
This was such a wickedly delicious horror novella. I was so obsessed with this Nameless serial killer that taunted throughout this carnival. It was so twisted but in a beautiful way. Loved every minute of this.
