Musical Awakening

Some songs take years to finish. So do some love stories.

June Snow is a concert photographer and music blogger building her life one playlist, one post, and one show at a time.

She knows how to capture a moment.
She doesn't expect to become part of one.

That changes the night she hears Richmond Adams for the first time — an up-and-coming British singer-songwriter whose music feels a little too familiar, a little too close.

What starts as a single post turns into something more.

Told through blog entries, social media, and fleeting encounters across cities and time zones, Musical Awakening follows June as she navigates creativity, timing, and the kind of connection that refuses to follow a straight line.

Because some stories don't unfold all at once —
they build slowly, like your favorite song.

And sometimes you have to listen more than once to understand what it really meant.

A nostalgic, early-2010s indie music love story about finding your voice — and learning to trust what it's been trying to tell you all along.

Megan Elvrum is a Denver-based author, who has been writing on her blog 2009. Her debut novel Musical Awakening was inspired by her real experiences following the British band A Silent Film across four years of concerts, cities, and moments that changed her life. When she isn't writing, you'll find her training for marathons, climbing, or in the front row of a show with her camera. She believes that the right song can change the direction of your life — and that some songs find you exactly when you need them. Musical Awakening is her first novel. #ListenForYourself

Megan was able to put into story form what we music nerds long for: someone who makes us feel the way our favorite song does.

This short and sweet read gives all the feels—swoon worthy as our protagonist June would say.

I would HIGHLY recommend listening to the band “A Silent Film” while reading, as well as the songs that all of the chapter titles are named after while reading.

What a great book! I don’t get a lot of time to just sit down, relax, and enjoy a good book, so when I find one that really holds my attention, that says a lot! A Musical Awakening did just that.

The story pulled me in and kept me wanting to see where her journey would take her. I loved following the love story and watching her dreams unfold along the way. It’s one of those books that reminds you that sometimes dreams really can come true.

I truly enjoyed A Musical Awakening and I’m so glad I took the time to read it! ❤️

What can I sayyyyy? I'm a concert junkie myself, so opening this book and going on June's journey was like being there myself. I can hear Richmond's voice, feel the guitar in my veins, and my heart beat with the pounding of drums... and the swoony romance. Thank you for writing a perfect story for a music-loving girl!

I'm a sucker for epistolary novels, so when I first read about it on Megan's blog I knew I needed to get my hands on a copy. If you're a millennial that spent their teens and 20's in small show venues every weekend then this is the book for you. A very cute story, perfect for a cozy weekend in with a cup of coffee (or tea).

I'm not so good at reviewing books but this was such a cute story and fun read that any music fan will love. The June, Snow, fun socks and lamplight references (IYKYK - but i'm sure I missed some) brought me back to the ASF days!
