On-shift temptation she can’t deny…
Trauma doctor Lucie never forgot Torin, her late best friend’s older brother. Now, years after the tragedy that tore them apart, the brooding ex-military surgeon is back and working on her ward. And there’s a brand-new spark that’s impossible to ignore—but imperative to resist! Because falling for Torin is the ultimate betrayal of those they’ve lost, even if it’s clear Lucie’s not alone in feeling the lure of the forbidden… Would surrendering sever their bond for good? Or finally heal their shattered hearts?
From Harlequin High-stakes medical worlds filled with hope, courage, and heartfelt romance that heals in more ways than one.
I was disappointed in this book. I found the reasons they told themselves they couldn’t be together were altogether too flimsy and too difficult to believe. She seems to think that her best friend, Tobin’s sister would be horrified and feel betrayed. Why? No clear and acceptable explanation of this bizarre viewpoint was ever provided.
Tobin’s fear of losing someone else that he loved would have been more reasonable except the way he dealt with everything was harsh, cruel and arrogant. I simply couldn’t believe in him as a hero.
The writing is very good mostly but the poorly executed character motivations held me back from giving it more than 3 stars.
These two had such insane chemistry. It was so damn beautiful being a witness to their romance. The medical jargon might have thrown me at times, but their connection overruled it all.
