I guess I was hoping for something more like House of God that would shock me or make me laugh or enrich my understanding of medicine or the human condition, rather than three days in the life of a casualty doctor who does his job reasonably well in somewhat bad conditions and avoids much introspection where possible. Interesting from the point of view of examining the techniques and systems of a hospital in Scotland in the 70s, seeing what has changed and what hasn't. I was surprised by the level of casual (?unintended/institutionalised) sexism and racism.
Overall, interesting but not moving or lifechanging
