Woodland Creek

Treagar's Redemption

Rate this book
Marcus Theodoric Treagar is a sabretooth with a curse that has him traveling through time, leaving a trail of dead bodies. Not only that, but as soon as he falls in love, he is wrenched away from that period and returned to 16th century Venice. To save the last remaining piece of his heart, he refuses to become involved again.
Until Paisley Halleran.

As the daughter of the shifter chronicler, Paisley Halleran knows that magick and the paranormal abound in Woodland Creek. With her adopted brother, Virgil Rowtag, they fight for every shifter’s rights in the area. When Paisley comes face to face with Marcus, who has been arrested for a murder he does not remember committing, she believes he is innocent. Marcus, on the other hand, knows he has finally found the woman truly meant for him.

However, not everything is cut and dried. Paisley unearths tragic secrets and lies that link her to Marcus. Not only will it show her whether Marcus is truly innocent or guilty of the murders in Woodland Creek, it will also spell the difference between staying with Marcus because she wants to, or letting him go because she has no choice.

Some stories stay with you forever. Some characters feel like old friends. Isobelle Cate writes both. Her books are full of love that surprises, second chances that feel real, and people who’ve been through heartbreak but find the courage to love again. Every story she tells reminds us that hope is never lost, and love always finds a way.

Her characters are alive, flawed, brave, funny, and achingly human. Whether it’s a sweeping romance or a touch of magic, her stories pull you in and refuse to let go.

Off the page, Isobelle is just as captivating. She’s warm, thoughtful, and a little delightfully quirky someone who loves quiet afternoons with a book, the smell of baking drifting through the house, and the gentle rhythm of crocheting. She lives in Manchester with her family and their tiny, fearless goldfish, Ninja, who somehow makes every day a little more interesting.

Readers don’t just come for her stories, they stay for her heart. Isobelle’s words comfort, inspire, and remind us that even when life feels impossible, love has a way of finding us.

I was given an ARC for an honest review.
What I love about Isobelle's stories is how I get caught up in them. There is this one part where Paisley is eating a sandwich and then when she hears something bad, the taste of that sandwich just changes. That kind of detail I can definitely relate to and draws me into the story throughout. I have to say, I don't know where she comes up with Marcus Treagar but a 6'4" Italian man with muscles to spare who's a Sabretooth, I'm loving it. I really liked Paisley and Virgil's interaction as well. The shaman...I'm just going to let readers decide their own minds on that as the subject touched an issue for me.
What I didn't like, it was a short read. I wanted more and have been asking if there's a followup. Nope. So this is the one and only taste of Marcus Treagar. He will make you WISH you had your own sabretooth shifter.

Isobelle Cate brings us another super-charged story, full of suspense and action. Did I mention, HOT as well!! The characters are relate-able and lovable. I couldn't get enough of Marcus Treager. The story had me guessing to the very last page with twists you DO NOT see coming. Isobelle is officially on the list for my favorite all time authors!

Treagar’s Redemption will take hold of the reader, just as the two main characters, Marcus and Paisley, have a hold on each other. It’s a gripping read of paranormal romance, time-travel, and dark magick, with a fairy-tale quality to the story.

After time-travelling to Woodland Creek and finding yet another dead body had turned up at the scene where he appeared, it becomes confusing for Marcus Theodore Treagar. Is he really a danger to those where he turns up? He can’t remember causing any harm to anyone. But, then again he is in his sabretooth form when he first appears in a new time, before changing back to his human form.

When Marcus and Paisley meet it soon becomes clear that they have a strong attraction to each other. Paisley believes Marcus to be innocent from the offset, and asks her lawyer father to defend him. However, the story takes a turn when her father refuses to stand up for Marcus. After losing his wife, Paisley’s mother, her father resigned himself to taking care of Paisley, yet deeply mourned Hurit for many years. Knowing it was a sabretooth – Marcus – who was at the scene of her death, Paisley’s father is not so quick in deeming Treagar innocent.

This conflict causes tension between the characters, and leaves Paisley feeling torn. It doesn’t help when her adopted brother, Virgil, isn’t too supportive of Treagar’s innocence either. But, something tells Paisley that Marcus is telling the truth. He is innocent. And, aside from wanting to prove his innocence, there is something else pulling at Paisley. Likewise for Marcus. I love how the author uses the characters to flirt with her readers by allowing the reader to understand how both characters feel about each other, reading their thoughts. And yet, both Paisley and Treagar seem to rein in their feelings, keeping them at bay, and thus hiding their vulnerabilities from each other.

The time-travelling curse that was bestowed on Marcus makes it impossible for him to fall in love. But, once he returns to his mansion in Venice during the 16th century, he knows that Paisley is the one to take the last piece of his heart. Although usually quite happy to be back home, there is something about Paisley that makes him long to return to the future. But, will he get the chance? He’s never gone back to the same time before! Meanwhile, Paisley had found herself ‘salivating’ over Marcus – something she has never done before.

I would recommend Treagar’s Redemption for a mature reader. It is a SUPER HOT read; you won’t need the central heating on for a while after reading this book! The heat exuding from this passionate couple is almost unbearable (in the best possible way) – exciting isn’t the word. You’ll be turning the pages with great speed and urgency to find out just how intimate they become.

These conflicts and sexual tensions make for a suspenseful read at times. And, the atmosphere of the story can be dark at times when the reader feels there is no hope for Treagar, and questions who could possibly be behind the murders if it wasn’t him. How will Marcus and Paisley’s love cope with his terrible curse? And, will her father make it any easier for her to be with Treagar, or will Paisley have to let him go?

An ARC copy of Treagar’s Redemption was provided by the author in return for a fair and honest review.

This is the first book I have read of Isobelle's and I'm pleased to say it wont be my last.
In this book we follow Marcus, a sabre-tooth shifter. He is also a time traveller, he get's pulled through time for 18th Century to present time. He ends up landing in Woodland Creak were he meets Paisley. But he is covered in blood and landed next to a dead body. Because he is new in town, he is the prime suspect. But Paisley believes he is innocent and will stop at nothing to prove it.
I loved this story, it pulls you in from the start and you can't help but love the characters. Marcus is a hot shifter and you wish you had your own!
Paisley is a very strong women and stands up for what she believes in. You can relate to her and feel like you could be best friends.
There are a lot of twists and turns that just keep you guessing. I want more of Marcus!!!
The sex scenes were hot and left you wanting more. The description to detail is amazing, you get a very good picture building in your head as you read. Fantastic story from Isobelle. I want to read more from the authors of the Woodland Creak series!

I really enjoyed this novella about a sabre-tooth shifter called Marcus Treagar from the 18th century who gets pulled back and forwards through time every time he falls in love with a woman. He lands in Woodlands Creek naked and with blood in his mouth near to a dead body and so he gets arrested as prime suspect.
Paisley is a fighter and protector of the rights of all the shifters who live in Woodland Creek and so she makes it her mission to prove Marcus's innocence and gets more than she bargained for.
I liked the twists and turns in this story and there are plenty of hot steamy moments to keep you reading. This is the first story i have read by this author and i wasn't disappointed and will be interested to read more of her stories.

My first thought upon receiving this book was that I was not really fond of the text style in which is was published. I believe it makes it harder to read. That aside I enjoyed reading this small novella about a sabre-tooth shifter and a Shamanic chroniclor. Though it dived right into the plot without really any lead up I was more than pleased to see everything answered as the book came to a close. There was one question I really felt was unanswered in the book but maybe if there are more it will be answered. Based on content this book is for an mature audience of 18+. I'm giving this book 4 Fangs as I am an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.

Isobelle Cate has done it again! I was given this ARC for a honest review. I was so not disappointed. This book is super, super read full of action and suspense. And so damn sensual. I am surprised the pages don't burn. Even in the normal parts of the book. Isobelle writing draws you in. You feel the wind, and taste the sandwich right along with Paisley. Marcus is so sensual and hot. You want to swoon. All these characters are great. And I was so surprised at the end. I did not know who the evil was. And that is so rare for me. I read a lot. I highly recommend this book! !!!

This book/story was amazing, love this author, so when I got the chance to try this genre twist, I was happy to see where it lead. Isobelle has a writing style which drags the reader kicking and screaming into the story. This shifter edition did just that and more, (no pun intended) loved it, would definitely recommend it if you're in a reading rut looking for something different, smart, sexy, gripping, this is it!

I was very fortunate to get to read an arc of this book. You have a time traveling sabretooth shifter from old times who meets his mate in our time. This is a very suspenseful book, lots of action and some verrry, steamy sex!! I have been a fan of Isobelle Cate's Cynn Cruor books and this one did not disappoint. Great start to a new series.

An Engaging Read!
The love story between Paisley and Marcus involves time travel, shifters, family drama and trauma. Love and the ramifications of greed and heartbreak are the themes and it keeps you glued to the page.
The attraction between Paisley and Marcus is instant and their love happens almost as quickly.
If you like being thrown into intrigue and love that surpasses distance and time, you'll enjoy this book. I certainly did.

Treagar's Redemption is one of the books in the Woodland Creek series. This series is written by a variety of authors, and chronicles the stories of various residents. Woodland Creek is a town where shifters of all kinds live in relative harmony with humans. Our story focuses on Paisley Halleran, daughter of James Halleran, the resident shaman, shifter chronicler, and defense attorney, and on Marcus Treagar, a most unusual shifter.

Marcus, you see, is a sabretooth shifter, and a time jumper. Granted, his time jumps are not under his control. It's a curse more than a blessing. Marcus belongs to Venice, old Venizia, but has been pulled to different points in the future. As a merchant, his future jumps have been of great benefit, erratic and unplanned as they are. The biggest downside is that the jumps leave him naked and covered in blood, and accompanied by a dead body somewhere close by.

One of Marcus’ time jaunts lands him in Woodland Creek, where he is arrested for the murder of a backpacker. This brings him into contact with Paisley, with whom he has an immediate connection. It is here, too, that Marcus learns the truth of his curse and apparent tendency towards murder. Betrayal and blessings await the sabretooth shifter in Woodland Creek.

This was another book where I focused more on mechanics than story. Books of this nature are not my usual forte. I'm not looking to get the same things from my normal fare, as readers of romance and erotica seek. As far as those mechanics go, this was a well-written book. It flowed great, and the story of Marcus and his plight drew me in.

I can't think of another book with shifters that utilised the novelty of sabretooths. Werewolves feel beyond trite to me, and I love stumbling across unusual shifter species. Big cats are always a favourite, though I had to shake my head at Paisley encountering a shifted Marcus in the forest. Heh. Clearly she's never had the opportunity to work with big cats, or little ones for that matter, or she wouldn't have earned some new scars.
