What a great book! The beginning chapters focus on some of the basics of visual design, using photographs of finished Bargello pieces to illustrate some of the key points. These chapters are dense (I will be re-reading them again and again), but are also beautifully-written. There are also many tips on practical matters such as selection of mesh, fabrics, and other materials. The color photographs are stunning, although I would have appreciated a "zoomed-out" look at a complete piece or two in its context (the photos were all zoomed-in so you could easily view the stitch pattern).
