Maureen Child was born 28 September 1951 in California, USA. She and her husband enjoy traveling, usually taking road trips with her parents. When she’s at home, she is kept busy with her two grown children and a somewhat confused golden retriever named Abbey. She is busy writing her next book.
Under her own name, Maureen Child writes short contemporary novels—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling, she is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing. She writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings. Now, a USA Today best selling author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas, she is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis.
I first read Kathleen Kane (who also writes contemporaries under the name Maureen Child) when I picked up a copy of Catch a Fallen Angel from my local thrift store. I read it, and loved it. So was very happy when I got my hands on DREAMWEAVER.
And I was not disappointed. This book was very enjoyable. I loved the unique idea of the heroine being a "dreamweaver"; a celestial being who is responsible for guiding the paths of children's dreams. I'd never come across this concept before, so it was a refreshing one to read about.
The characters were loveable, the historical detail well done without overtaking the story, and the romance moving. I liked that the hero and heroine were attracted to each other for more reasons than just sex. While they were physically attracted to one another, it wasn't a lust-fest as so many romance novels are nowadays.
My only real complaint with this book is that it was too short. Just over 300 pages. I was left wanting more!
I will definitely be on the lookout by more books from this author.
Loved it!! I love time travel stories and although this wasn't quite my type, it was very well written and endearing. Meara Simon shows up at Connor's ranch with no memory but her name, but little bits and pieces keep shining through of her past. Connor is not quite sure what to do with this beautiful Irish woman who appears through the roof of his ranch house. She sets the pace with fire and determination. I liked how they weaved Luke into the picture and the twist of Connor's mother. Looking forward to reading the others written by this author.
