The Cruise had all the makings of a delicious revenge‑driven drama. Instead of leaning into a twisty psychological thriller, it settled more firmly into a glossy, reality‑TV‑framed narrative about trauma, loyalty, and long‑delayed justice.

I liked the fierce female solidarity and the unapologetic mission for payback, but I was hoping for darker turns and sharper suspense. Still, the Squad’s ride‑or‑die energy and Bailey’s calculated moves behind the scenes were satisfying to follow.

Likes:
• Female solidarity that feels powerful and purposeful
• Revenge setup that’s juicy and personal
• Reality‑TV backdrop which adds drama and chaos

Let Down:
• Not a thriller (more drama than suspense)
• Predictable beats in some plot turns
• Limited depth in the trauma exploration

Overall Thoughts
Even though this wasn’t the darker, twist‑heavy revenge thriller I was craving, it still delivered a fun, chaotic ride packed with female loyalty, simmering tension, and the satisfaction of watching someone finally take back their power. The reality‑TV setting adds flair, but the lack of deeper suspense leaves a space you keep waiting to be filled. A solid pick if you’re in the mood for drama‑laced retribution, but for a more intense thriller hit, you’ll want something with sharper teeth.

Huge thanks to Netgalley, Allen and Unwin, and the author for my copy.

A group of gal pals avenging the wrongs committed against them by men?

For legal reasons I cannot say that I would help bury the body.
But I can say that I loved this book and agree entirely.

Thank you to NetGalley and Allen and Unwin for the chance to read.
