Don't miss this fan-favorite tale of long-lost love and second chances from New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods

Rugged rancher Harlan Patrick Adams has never forgotten his childhood sweetheart, Laurie Jensen. After all, she admitted she loved him…and then left him with no explanation. But then he discovers a photograph of her, clutching a tiny baby…a little girl who has his eyes.

Harlan Patrick is going to go to the mother of his child. He'll knock down her door, if that's what it takes. Demand some answers. Claim what is rightly his. Even if it means getting down on one knee and begging her to marry him.

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

After reading about the original Adam's men and their families this was a delight to read about one of the grandchildren. Look forward to more.

Good story to reread

But I can say that if I were Harlan Patrick I don't think I could be as patient or understanding with Laurie. I realize that there needs to be some problem in the storyline, but did it really need to take almost all the way through the book to figure out a compromise? I could see it right from the beginning. The Adams dynasty is going strong, and it was good to see all of them again, especially after rereading the previous stories in the 2-in-1 stories that have recently been rereleased.

The pace is fast, the tone is uncertain yet hopeful and the storyline is character oriented with some suggestions of steam but no real details. You do want to read this series in order, so get the 5 previous 2-in-1 books in the Scans Dynasty series, then this and then Suddenly Annie's Father, or wait for 12/1/20 for the last 2-in-1 that will have these last 2 stories in it. Enjoy this series with a focus on characters and less on detailed steamy scenes!

A short but sweet story. Laurie's dad left her and her mother when she was 4. She never knew why and never asked her Mom. But this event shaped her views of life and love. When she gets up the nerve to ask her Mom why her parents split, the response was a surprise.

Harlan has loved Laurie since they were young. Theirs has been an on and off again relationship as she followed her dream to sing on Nashville while he stayed working the family ranch in Texas. When he finds out Laurie's has a daughter, his daughter all bets are off.

As they face the past together can they build a future? Harlan works hard to help Laurie understand that trust, honesty, family, and commitment are his top priorities.

Harlan Patrick Adams never got over his childhood sweetheart, Laurie Jensen, walking away from him to pursue her singing career. But then he discovers she has been keeping a secret.

He is determined to make them a family and will do whatever he has to in order to make that happen. Laurie is just as determined to live her life indepently. Through their stubborn resistance they both will learn the benefits of compromise.

A long time coming!

Harlan Patrick and Laurie needed time to grow up, nature and learn to compromise before they could!d accept a future together. He waited an awfully long time but his love never wavered and Laurie finally recognized that!

Harlan Patrick and laurie's story. Yes they are both stubborn headed, but dang could no one in the family suggest they compromise and live part time in Nashville and Los Pinos.

Very enjoyable pleasant read. I liked it for what it was, maybe should give 4 stars. Just not a deep plot, simple straightforward storyline.

Cute story. But had lots of fluff and filling when the main problem could have been solved way easier and with less go around. I still liked it but not as amazing as it could’ve been

I like this kind of book where the couple has problems yet somehow overcome them and at the same time you are introduced to more interesting characters.

Really good

This was the best Adams book yet. It was good to see the grandkids grown up. I can't wait to read about Justin.

Sherryl woods series

This was an enjoyable book. The stories in this series were very predictable on the ending. Quick read but not good job of holding my interest.
