Review to come...
**FULL REVIEW**
*rubs hands together in anticipation*
I don’t know where to start, there is so much I want to say and yet I don’t want to say anything because I think it’s one of those books that needs to be read and interpreted by each person turning the pages.
I guess I will do my best…
Porter Hale is a badass porn star with a soft, gooey center that wants nothing more than to be a good man. He’s stuck in an industry that pays the bills but doesn’t fulfill him in any way. His dream…mainstream movies.
Holly Nash is one person who can help him achieve that.
Problem is, she wants nothing to do with him and if it weren’t for his brother being her friend…along with her own two best friends giving her a gentle kick in the rear, she wouldn’t give “Ryder Ruff” the time of day. Let alone her evenings.
But somehow, she is manipulated into dinner…and the rest is history. In actually having a conversation with Porter, Holly realizes there is more to him than a pretty penis. He appeals to both her lady bits and her extremely cynical mind.
Now, to make it work…and to find him work…that doesn’t have him buried in random fleshy women.
I’d love to say that’s the end…but there is a late-to-the-party plot twist. And some serious family issues…
David Michael has transitioned nicely into the contemporary genre. What one might think upon seeing the cover or even reading the synopsis of this book is that it’s straight up PORN—it’s not. There is a solid storyline that may seem slow, with that M&M crunch on the outside and soft chocolatey center inside, complete with a happily ever after…but there is a nice little twist. There is a clever set up for the next book as well, keeping you interested enough to find out what happens next.
My only question is this:
What happened to the over-caffeinated Jazzercise instructor? I liked her…even if she seemed a little crazy. *grins*

I was hella excited to finally get to read this book after seeing all the hype for a while about it...and Porter did not disapppoint me at all!
Porter, Parker and Preston are three brothers who all "inherit" the family business and who are as different from each other as can be (with the exception of their icy blue eyes and love for the adult film industry). Porter is the older sex-god, a legend to his peers, while his younger brothers Parker (a man with a substance abuse problem) and Preston (the baby of the family and definitely the most versatile) keep him on his toes as he has become their mentor and father figure.
While this book explores the relationships they have with each other as well as the ins and outs of the explicit nature of their work, it also deals with the prejudices adult film actors face in Hollywood (the difficulty to have "normal" relationships outside of work and the vulnerability of men who would seem to the outside world as having it all...success, confidence and women galore).
I laughed out loud at some of the outrageous dialogue and descriptions, the over-the-top antics of Porter's love interest Holly and her band of zany co-workers, and definitely enjoyed watching the rocky courtship as Porter tries to satisfy his desire for the reluctant object of his affection.
Sex was all over the place in this book...steamy and panty-melting in some scenes...downright nasty in others and yet overall told with a sense of humor and playfulness.
I really enjoyed the complex characters and loved the romance aspect...but when the story took a dangerous twisty turn near the end, it was a surprise but not completely unexpected.
A cliffhanger at the end leads into Parker's story which I am guessing is the next book. I can't wait for the other two boys to have their stories told!

So, now that Porter has been out for a good 6 months, I feel like I should finally write an author review for him. Here we go:
Porter is, by far, my favorite of all the books I've published so far. He's real, his friends are real, his family is real, his problems are real. When I started this series, it was intended to be a raunchy, hysterical, sex-filled steam-fest. Porter had other plans. He didn't want to be that guy and, after getting to know him, I can't really blame him. It's a book about a porn star and there are a whole THREE sex scenes.
Holly, the peach that she is, surprised me as well. Having lived in California and done the acting thing myself, I know all about the stigmas that can follow an actor like stink on a skunk. Holly isn't exempt from that mindset. She has her assumptions about Porter and she just KNOWS she's right about him.
At least until he proves her wrong.
Becks and Mitch, Holly's best friends, are just as deep as the two primaries and make a FABULOUS supporting cast. They're the hysterical no-filter best friends we all wish we had.
And they have their own stories to tell, so stay tuned...

5 D*ckstracting Stars!
What a way to popped my David Michael cherry!
PORTER exceeded my expectations! I didn't exactly expect that I would enjoy and laugh much reading this book and I feel so privileged to have read this amazing book in advance. I really loved the author's choice of words to describe things or should I say I love how he created all of his characters!
Porter is not only "the porn star" but he has this effortlessly charisma in him that captivates ne and made me want to know more about him.
Holly and her BFFs, the lucky b*tch! I really don't mind her being part of the A-list life but what I envy about her is her friends- Beck and Mitch! There will never be a dull moment whenever they popped in the story and I need them in my life!
The book is open ended and it leaves me craving for more, I want to know what will happen with Porter's brothers and maybe, Mitch and Becks too (seriously, Porter has some competition, they are my favorite.!)

I've never before read a romance written by a man and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The humor kept me laughing, the characters' relationships were beautifully shown through the dialogue and I could absolutely see my girlfriends and I having the same conversations word for word. I was able to relate and that's the key point for me in a romance. The female MC was easily relatable with her reservations and I found myself screaming at the pages for her to get her head out of her a$$. In short, I will absolutely be continuing my read of the series when the rest of the Dick Dynasty goes live. Bring on the next brother.

Okay where to begin......
I found Porter to be Sexy, witty, funny, and endearing.
Porter Hale aka Ryder Ruff has built quite the reputation in the porn industry as well as his younger brothers Parker and Preston.. They have been dubbed The Prince of Porn, but they call themselves Dick Dynasty. (love it)
Holly Nash Well known casting director for one of the top agencies in LA.
She is a straight and narrow kind of girl. Never been in trouble.
Secondary characters was all well written and intertwined perfectly with the story. I found Becks (Rebecca) and Mitch to be the true stars. They are Holly's best friends. I absolutely loved them.
I really enjoyed the story, however I was a little disappointed how quickly things wrapped towards the end. But over all the read was wonderful.
I am very much looking forward to Parker's story..

Hot Damn that was good! So refreshing to read a love story written by a man. David's writing was like a drug to me. Infectious, humorous and down right raunchy at times. I literally could not put this book down.
Porter Hale is a successful porn star aka Ryder Ruff aka bad ass. Along with his two younger brothers they are often referred to as the "Princes of Porn." But they often refer to themselves as the "Dick Dynasty" lol. I loved Porter's character, he came across…haha I said came across…as this strong dominant male but deep down he was a big ole softy….big softy….lol I kill me!
Holly Nash, on the other hand, is a strong willed determined casting director that despises porn so when big bad Ryder Ruff spills her martini on her she is less than amused. Porter is wanting to make it up to this beautiful vixen so he invites her to dinner, which by a little help from Becks, she accepts.
Holly hasn't gotten laid in a long time. Her vagina practically has cob webs. She is also way out of her league when Porter starts pushing on the charm and has no idea how to handle him. Her assistant Mitch and best friend Becks don't help out much either by constantly pressing that she see him. And BTW OMG I LOVED Holly's assistant, Mitch. He could be in a book all of his own.
Holly's vagina finally wins and they begin a very heated and passionate romance. But the porn industry is not happy with Porter's new girlfriend and when Holly starts getting threats, Porter is outraged and will stop at nothing to protect Holly.
The end scene was INTENSE. I even got a little squeamish reading that part AND the epilogue geez David are you trying to kill me?? Let's just say I cannot wait to read the next book in the Dick Dynasty series. Must read you will not be disappointed.
Favorite Scene: The awkward getting-caught-with-your-pants-down scene with Mitch and Becks.

My review is two-fold, which is a first for me when reviewing a novel.
The first part is on the author, David Michael, himself. David is an affable and engaging individual (although I don't know him personally) and has plenty of time to interact with readers and fellow authors on the various forms of social media. To describe him as someone who is charming, would really not give him the full justice he deserves. The way I have interacted and seen him interact with other people, made me very excited to read this particular novel.
Onto the novel itself...
Porter, Parker & Preston are three brothers who dominate the world of the porn industry. They have all clearly made their own personal mark within this industry and this novel predominantly concentrates on the oldest of the three siblings, Porter Hale. Throughout the novel you get glimpses of what life is like for both Parker and Preston - whose stories will be revealed in the two follow-up novels.
The novel is difficult to categorise into any one particular genre, as it covers romance, humour, sexiness, intrigue and drama.
Porter Hale (or Ryder Ruff) is disillusioned with the porn industry, even though he has made a huge name for himself. Admirers, of both sexes, are fully aware of the name Porter Hale. Enter Holly Nash, who is a Casting Director and may be just the person Porter can use to break away from the industry he is rapidly losing interest in.
Only one problem...Porter's anatomy and mind likes Holly a lot more than he cares to admit, especially as Holly loathes the porn industry.
What I really enjoyed about this read, was that alternating chapters were written in the first person from both Porter's and Holly's perspectives. You got a very clear insight into what one thought about the other, with subtle crossovers in several scenes.
Throw into the mix the camp, over-sexed Mitch; the foul-mouthed Becks; the bisexual but sensible Preston and the extremely troubled Parker, you have a novel that makes you laugh, gasp and turning the pages as you find yourself thoroughly engrossed in the various storylines.
I am hoping this review will give David Michael and all his characters who are so wonderfully brought to life the fullest justice that they all deserve.
The novel does end on a bit of tense drama - not exactly a cliff-hanger but it does make me incredibly hungry to read Parker's story, which I am hoping will not be too long before it is on my Kindle and I am absorbing myself into it word by word.

When he is introduced to Holly Nash – a top mainstream casting director – he sees her as his ticket out of the industry. There is only one problem….she hates porn. Holly’s attempts to keep her distance are in vain thanks to interference from her friends Becks and Mitch, combined with an inexplicable magnetic pull towards him. Over time Holly gets to see behind Porter’s media persona as he reveals himself as a charismatic, charming, sensitive and caring person that breaks the barrier she has constructed bit by bit. However not everyone is happy to see their relationship blossoming.
In the beginning of the book – as you would expect given the nature of Porter’s career – there are some cheesy and cringe worthy scenes. However, for me, the beach scenes were a turning point. From there on out the story, along with the writing, only gets better and you can’t help but rooting for their relationship. Holly’s friends Becks and Mitch bring comedic moments to the book and evoked genuine laughter at their antics. This book really does cover all it’s bases: romance, hot sex, comedy, drama, a twist, suspense and a cliffhanger.
A very enjoyable lighthearted and fun read.

If you haven't read a David Michael book yet *gasp* but why come?! This is the perfect one to pop your cherry. Porter will be gentle I promise. But also sexy as all hell. Unless you want him hard. He can do hard. Oh yes he can. Wait. What are we talking about again? Oh right. The book *cough* ok I'm back.
So we have Porter the porn star who wants to break into mainstream movies, and we have Holly the casting director, who hates porn. How will this work?!? Well. Through a little intervention from her two hysterical and 'doing it out of love' besties, Mitch & Becks, and Porter's brother Preston, Holly ends up on a date with Porter, and eventually giving him a chance. It all spirals into fun and sexy from there.
Who expects a love story from a porn star? If anyone can do it David can. This book will make you laugh until you cry, want to jump the nearest person from the sexy times, but there's twists that will give you goose bumps and chills and make you want to throw your kindle.
The ending will make you want to scream a little, or a lot, at Mr. Michael (that's ok he can take it) but will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for book number two.

Sexy, funny and an easy reading flow. David has a great since of humor and I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Holly and Porter had great chemistry and it was not only hot to read them but funny as well.
Becks and Mitch (stole the show!) are so funny they will cause you to spew whatever you're drinking on your reading device!! I highlighted quite a bit of their material for later use! I loved the flow that all the characters had with one another and the easy way it read. The sex scenes were...HOT! This momma had to step away from the Kindle to cool down a couple of times while reading. David definitely knows how to make you sweat!
There IS a cliffy in this one and you WILL want the next installment like... RIGHT NOW but I have a feeling with that ending what's coming next is going to be good. Maybe not a lighthearted as this one, but don't we all love a bit of the dark side? I do believe Parkers story will be next!

This is the first David Michael book I have read and the first by a male author for me. I don't know why I held out so long!!! This book is amazing!!!
Porter was far better than I thought it would be, I didn't think I would like it as much as I did!
Porter followed his father’s job choice into porn, he is not just a porn star, he is THE porn star!!!! He really wants to move into real acting..... but can that really happen? Holly Nash is everything that a strong women should be!!! She is no nonsense and driven.
What a amazing read this was!!! It has great humor, a bit of snark, and great sexy moments!!!! Porter and Holly are great!!! I love their times together, the back and forth between them is far better than I thought it would be!!!
Now this one ends on a cliffhanger but don't let that stop you!!! I really don't like them but I Loved this book and cannot wait for more!!!!

David Michael has started the Dick Dynasty off with a bang and WOW, I'm totally d**kstracted. You'll have to read this awesome book that had me laughing out loud! This awesomely well-written, complex full cast of characters that pulls you in and will not let you go till the very end. Porter Hale, the badass porn star is in the industry that pays the bills along with his two brothers Parker and Preston. He wants out of that industry and Holly Nash is the person who can help him. Image is everything to Holly and she avoids Porter at every turn. Life takes some strange twists and turns and these two, with help from friends and the amazing supporting cast, end up pursuing a working relationship and then more. This book has it all: lust, laughter, drama, suspense, family loyalty and a cliffy to look forward to! David Michael, I am looking forward to more!

When I first heard that this book was being written, I was skeptical. I'm not a big fan of romance novels but, given my previous experiences with David's writing, I threw caution to the wind. I'm very happy to say that I was most definitely NOT disappointed.
Reading through previous reviews, everyone lauds Becks and Mitch (as they rightly should!) but the real light in this book is Porter. Everyone wants a "Porter" in his/her life and the way this book is written let's you take on the role of Holly and believe, for a moment, that you belong with him. He is the knight in shining armor that we all need.
The end of the book left me wanting more, immediately. I might have to channel Annie Wilkes...

This isn’t my rodeo in terms of the porn industry in books, nor is it the first rodeo for reading about this from a male author, but it is the first book that I’ve had the pleasure of reading by this male author and after finishing it, I can say without reservation, it will not be my last.
This book took me by surprise for a couple of reasons.
The first being, I did not expect it to be as funny as it was. I mean, saying that makes it seem like it’s just funny all the time and it’s really not. There are quite a few truly gripping moments throughout, but when it was funny, it was downright hilarious and it worked. It took the heat so to speak off the more serious aspects.
I also didn’t expect to connect to the other two brothers the way I did. One bringing the humor while at times, showing just how serious he could be, especially when it pertained to his other brother, Parker and the other one being, well, Parker. It was in the instances with him and Porter where I felt the most, emotionally speaking (apart from the couple and their romance). His issues spoke to me, and everyone’s reactions to said issues did as well. If anything the family aspect connected me even more than I already was.
So with the way this book ended and knowing now that Parker’s story is just around the corner, all I’ve got is a resounding hell yes! Bring. It. On.
But this book isn’t just about Parker. It’s about Porter and the one woman in the sea of them he could have chosen that he wants the most. Also the one that hates what he does for a living. Hates anything even remotely connected to the porn industry, in Holly.
But this book, while I think nailing the porn industry pretty realistically (and humorously after being privy to Porter’s thoughts as he’s on set), is about more than that. It’s about these two people finding something in each other apart from what it is they do for a living and well, making it work, even though to the rest of the world it might be deemed to fail.
I loved Holly. She wasn’t the heroine I was expecting when I picked up the book. I didn’t expect her to be quite the firecracker she was at the start, though still showing shades of being like others in that, despite her hatred for all things porn, she couldn’t help being attracted to one of the biggest names in it. Her reactions to that were priceless, and when she finally gave in and allowed herself to see past that, I only came to like her more.
Porter at first comes across much like your typical arrogant alpha male, but in the end turns out to be so much more. At times, almost childlike in the way he reacts to situations that take place later in the story, but still remaining the adult that he is, especially in the interactions with his family. Often times appearing fatherly, especially after having lost his actual father.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. The pacing was steady, it was a really quick read, but I didn’t feel as though it was too quick while I was reading. There just the right amount of detail to connect me to the business they were all in and to all of the characters.
This is definitely a book that I’m glad I came across and one that I’m even happier I took the chance on.
Now, bring on Parker!

David Michael is a new to me author, however after reading Porter, I will definitely be going back to read more.
So, a romance about a porn star? How is that going to work you ask? Well, I have to say, it worked really well.

At first I thought Porter was a bit of a dick - no pun intended - but as the story progressed, his heart really starts to shine through.
He does not make such a great impression on Holly, but she sure makes one on him!
This is a great description of "judging a book by it's cover". Assumptions are made and it is great as we watch these assumptions shatter as they get to know each other more.
I adored the relationship that Porter has with his family - you would think that with the industry they are in that they would be quite dysfunctional, but that could not be further from the truth. Porter is kind of the patriarch of the "dick dynasty"

Incredibly Funny & Completely Dickstracting
Yes I said Dickstracting that is not a misspelling. You must read this book to find out why I use that word and trust me when I say you will not be disappointed. Once you have read this book you may even want to track down the author David Michael and either kiss him or bitchslap him, I am still contemplating on that one.
This book is about Porter. The oldest of three brother who just all happen to be porn stars. Holly is the Hollywood Casting director. They come from two different worlds but Porter has always wanted to make it to the big time. There is instant attraction but can the two of them make it together? Should they? Will sometime stand in their way besides themselves.
So to say I liked this book would be ridiculous. I LOVED this book. So let's start with the series title Dick Dynasty??? Hello brilliant. This book has me from the prologue, I snorted yes snorted before I even made it to the second page. I had fits of laughter through this book and while I expected that, I didn't expect to be so engaged with not only the main characters but the supporting cast as well. So cleverly written I found myself reminiscing about my friends and how we are around each other. Feel good times those were and this book brought me back to them. I loved seeing the relationship between Holly and Porter grow. The sex was Hot & steamy as hell. The ending however just no word no words whatsoever other than I have been BookSmacked

I was a bit dubious when I first read the synopsis, I couldn't see how romance was going to successfully mash together with the adult film industry so I honestly never in a million years expected to love this book as much as I do. Having said that it is so different to anything that I've ever read that I was instantly intrigued and wow am I glad that I let the curiosity get the better of me ;)
Porter Hale is nothing like I expected him to be... Yes he is in the adult film industry but he isn't your stereotypical porn star, he's really quite deep, there is so much more to him than you first expect and WOW does the guy have charisma!! Holly Nash is everything that I thought she'd be and more... She's no nonsense, driven and her inner monologue had me in tears! The secondary characters are solid too, Becks and Mitch are LEGENDS there is just no words for their genius, and the other two Hale brothers have my interest piqued too!!
I can't fault the story, there are highs and lows and I'm not going to lie... The ending is MEAN... Like I wanted to hunt David down and make him fix it kind of mean! But damn if it didn't work... I am now waiting with baited breath for the second book in the Dick Dynasty trilogy! Awesome job Mr. Michael, you have well and truly smashed it out of the park! Can't wait for more from this crazy bunch!! 5 well deserved stars... 10 if I steal Belinda's ;)

Porter Hale a.k.a Ryder Ruff. Oldest bother of the Hale brothers and one third of the “Dick Dynasty” and a genuine sweet guy that wants out of the porn industry. His brother Preston gives him that opening when he introduces him to Holly Nash.
Holly Nash. I loved Holly, she witty, beautiful and strong headed and then she meets Porter Hale. She stereo types him right away, only sees that he’s a porn star and wants nothing to do with him. She tries to stay strong but she is not immune to his charm.
Porter is written from both POV’s. Which I like because you get an idea of what’s going on in both characters heads and everything isn’t just one sided and David Michael has done that brilliantly. He made his characters likeable, relatable and oh so very sexy!!!
I found this book to be quite funny too. Some of the conversations is just hilarious. I found myself in a fit a giggles a lot!
David Michael’s writing is something I would love to read again. And I will! Parker is next to come out and I can’t wait to read his story. That’s due out winter of 2015.

The first time I heard the title "The Dick Dynasty" I giggled. Well, now, this is a bit different than what I'm used to from Author David Michael. And yet it seemed like a perfect fit, and yes, once again I was convinced to read an M/F book (not usually my go-to).
What a fun read this was!!! Filled with snark, humor and sexy times, this really worked for me. Porter and Holly were great! I loved their little dance, the back and forth, the witty repartee. I've got to be honest, though, the real stars for me were the sidekicks, Becks and Mitch, who are completely hilarious. I found myself giggle-snorting and shaking my head at them quite often, and I am hoping to see MUCH more of them going forward!
An enjoyable read, this also left me with a hint of what is to come in the next book - Parker's story. This brother seems to be a bit on the darker, side, with more angst. Believe me when I tell you, Mr. Michael is at his best when digging into this type of character and story. Having experienced this before in his other series (United), I know this is where he will shine, and I cannot begin to tell you how eagerly I am anticipating this.
I blazed through this in one sitting, had a blast with it, and now all I can say is "When do I get to read Parker?"

Firstly 5stars just isn't enough to rate this story! It needs at least 100 stars to do this story justice!
Porter is one of, if not THE funniest story I have EVER read!!!! Some of the one liners in this story are frickin HILARIOUS!!!!! Literally stuff you would say to your besty while getting smashed after doing something stupidly awesome and telling the story.....and your besty egging you on or delivering the eye rolls or open mouth awe look at your awesomeness....or stupidity!
There is a certain sadness to this story as well.....one that delivers a punch straight to the gut. Just like the funny side as well. So many emotions felt during this read!
This was my first time reading David Michael and definitely not my last. Its kickarse awesome with a side of HOLY WOW in there for good measure!!! I'd not read the synopsis and well I was alittle dubious about the cover and what it entailed. Its almost like a 70s porn slogan dont you think? Definitely suits the story though foo sure!!!

Just a few words to describe this adventure into the wonderful word of porn and Hollywood!!!
Porter is the eldest of three brothers known to many as "The Princes of Porn" and some as Dick Dynasty. He is one of my favorite book heroes this year. There is never a dull moment with him and you are always wondering what might happen next.
Holly Nash is one of the top casting directors in the biz and very good at her job. She is very sweet to those she holds dear but a piranha to anyone outside her closest of friends. Her life works without a man and doesn't want to upset the balance. Then she meets Porter.....
These two together make for a great time and a great book. The supporting cast is amazing as well and I for one can NOT wait for more. The epilogue leaves you wanting more and I for one may have cussed a little. ;) The story for Porter and Holly wraps nicely BUT cuts off for the rest of the gang.

Read an advance copy...... and my first from David Michael.
Now I didn't know what to expect, I must admit, but I was game and Dick Dynasty had me......
Well, damn the writing had me, I was chuckling at David's witty one, two and three liners, from both the female and male characters, it was a surprise the humour, interjected into a porn trio of Brothers who have built an empire on their manhoods. Porter is the main man here, the oldest brother with Holly Nash ( seriously? my filthy mind went straight to Holly Gash!!!) being the woman he meets and sparks go right off between them.....
But, Holly is a strange one, she flees the scene of the hot chemistry and hotter men....and has to mull things over with the hysterical bff.....
Fabulous cast of characters, all nicely set up for the follow ups, I was fully involved with all of the brothers and am very much looking forward to them all, David sure knows how to write some heat into a scene along with his fantastic sense of humour. A really enjoyable read.

I was a little unsure diving into a book about a porn star, but Porter did not disappoint! There was plenty of romance, hot sex, and LOTS of humor. The characters were engaging and I want more of them - not only the boys, but Holly's hysterical best friends! The story includes not only the relationship between Holly and Porter, but the relationships between Porter and his two brothers and the effects that Hollywood can have. David did such a wonderful job, I didn't even mind the cliffhanger at the end (though it will be hard to wait!). I'm excited to read more about the rest of the Dick Dynasty ;)

Was very pleasantly surprised. I mean... Dick Dynasty? And written by a man ... you figure its gonna be testosterone laden.... and while it did have its testosterone it also had humour and touching moments. And to throw you way off base it has mystery and pain. You are mad. laughing. crying. every emotion is brought out in you. Some really mice sexy scenes as well. Friends and family support is fantastic in this book as well. And the last paragraph will have you biting at the bit for the next book. Trust... it is a great read.

I need to start off by saying that even though I have read one of Mr. Michael’s books before, I completely underestimated Porter. This is not the first book I have read in which one of the main characters is porn star. Nor is it the first I have read in which said porn star is presented as a real person rather than a caricature. Sadly it does fall in the minority for that very reason. Because of my past reading experience and the series title – and yes it means exactly that – I began Porter with the expectation of a smut-filled read about a porn star. A book I would enjoy reading, but not love. What I got was a lot of laughs, a handful of hot (not smutty) sex scenes, a serious romance, and SUSPENSE! And I loved every minute of it.
I often include personal references in my reviews to explain why I enjoy a book. Oddly enough, I actually know a couple of gay male porn actors – they do love Key West. Because of this, I found Porter’s character to feel very authentic. Like most public personalities, they have their public persona and their real personality and being “on” all the time can wear them down. So the opportunity to be themselves when faced with a person who doesn’t care about nor is interested in their public persona is a godsend. It’s because of this that I found Porter’s reaction to Holly so realistic. Not only was Holly not impressed by Porter being a porn star, she actually wanted nothing to do with him because of it. And this put Porter in the novel situation of actually having to work for it to get a woman’s attention. Unbeknownst to Porter, Holly was actually attracted to him (which made for some hilarious conversations between Holly and her BFF Becks) so he had her complete and total attention, albeit begrudgingly. With some subtle pushing, some not so subtle cajoling, and a case of phone theft, Becks insures that Holly gives Porter a chance to prove that he’s not as bad as she wants to think he is. Despite their terrible first encounter, Porter proves to Holly that he really is a nice guy who has plans for a life beyond porn. The romance that ensues is sweet as Holly and Porter learn that they have a lot of common interests. Of course, the sex is hot – he is a porn star after all – but not gratuitous, not even those scenes that occur in the course of Porter’s job. The author weaves the scenes in appropriate to the storyline.
What I was not expecting and that caught me off-guard completely was the suspense element. I so did not see that coming – the actual incident or the guilty party. Holy crap that was intense and had me on the edge of my seat as the scene played out. Mr. Michael has created a wonderful cast of characters as support systems for Holly in Becks and Mitch and for Porter in Parker and Preston – who I am assuming will be getting their own books as members of the Dick Dynasty. I thoroughly enjoyed that the story was told from both Holly and Porter’s points of views so we got to see what each thought about the other and I will warn you that Holly has a bent sense of humor (that I loved). I loved Porter and apologize to Mr. Michael for underestimating his ability to make me love a porn star. I have added Porter to my reread shelf and am looking forward to Parker’s story next – at least it better be Parker’s story next after that freaking cliffhanger!
