We are back in the Yukon Valley and it is just about Christmas time, it is dark most of the day and it is cold and as usual the matchmakers of this small town are looking for people they can help find love could it be lab technician Reggie Price and local Veterinarian April Katz turn?
Reggie has moved here to train to race his dog sled team in the North Pole race and Mav is coaching him and he is also loving his job at the hospital, Reggie runs on spreadsheets and timing everything must run to timetable for him and with the race so close nothing can distract him from what he wants. Running into April brings back lots of memories for Reggie ones he would rather forget.
April is working in her father’s veterinarian surgery she is all lights and sparkle especially at this time of the year her and her little dog Alpo come as a team but April has decisions that she must make will she follow her dreams or her father’s? Then she runs into Reggie Price when he brings one of his race dogs in for a check she has never forgotten Reggie and the times she spent as his teach at college years ago and it appears that he can still push her buttons.
So when April goes out to check Reggie’s dogs and a blizzard hits they are snowbound in his cabin and talking is not all they did but can this lead to anything more, Reggie is so set on his ways and April still has decisions to make, can they set everything aside to find love and happiness?
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip back to the Yukon Valley the setting is fabulous and the characters and dogs who all have their own personalities kept me turning the pages in this steamy romance, it is one that recommend to keep you warm on a cool night.

How fun to be back in Alaska and hanging out with all the gang in the Yukon Valley!
Newcomer Reggie Price likes things to be precise. He likes lists and order and to follow his plans. He’s in the Yukon Valley for a new job and to train for the Iditarod sled dog race and he’s super focused. When he takes his lead dog to the vet in town, he sees Dr April Katz, who he’d known at university when she was a TA and he was a student. Reggie is attracted to April (always has been) but is resentful of her role in the way he missed out on med school. He’s also overanxious about his dogs and underestimates her vet skills. Gradually the reader finds out why Reggie wants to do the sled race, and what other burdens he is carrying. I was intrigued by him from the beginning, and keen to find out how he would deal with his baggage, and April.
Things are not straightforward for April either. She’s working in her father’s vet practice and feeling his expectations, as her career goals don’t necessarily align with her father’s. April is so relatable – she reads a lot of self-help books and tries to implement the things she reads, and her thoughts spiral as she tries to do the right thing by everyone. I loved how she can admit to herself that she’s attracted to Reggie, even though he's younger, possibly passing through and so prickly.
I loved the dogs, and the weather, and how the author evokes the isolation of life in Alaska. The setting feels like another character and it informs so much of what happens for Reggie and April. There is enough detail to make everything vivid and fun (the coats, the boots, the effort just to go outside and check on the dogs, the Christmas sweaters). The Valley is full of meddling gossips, but given how isolated it is, it feels understandable that they are all nosing in each other’s business. The action is compressed into Christmas time leading up to the North Pole 500 – a qualifier race for the Iditarod.
I’ve enjoyed all the books in these series, especially as Alaska is a long way from my world in hot and dry Australia. So well done!
Code Blue Christmas is a terrific short read with lovely people doing their best. It’s Book 4 in this series and stands alone although knowing people from the earlier books makes this a richer read.

I really enjoyed the dynamics portrayed in this remote Northern community. A place where everyone knows everyone else’s business as well as needing the whole town to turn up for events to be successful, made me want to go visit. I found Reggie in April‘s individual situations engaging. Each trying to find their own way in a career of their choice while also finding “more “in life was easy to empathize with. Although part of me didn’t like some of the social constructs presented, I think the author was trying to convey a message of embracing individuals for themselves. An interesting read with a HEA feel good ending.

The Yukon setting is snowy and cold but not the relationship developing between April and Reggie. There are personality quirks in regimented Reggie that cause friction. chemistry is way off the charts and leads to spicy moments. A winning story.

This book took me a bit out of my medical knowledge zone into veterinary medicine and laboratory science. But, it’s good to have friends who are vets. Also, there’s really nothing quite like being able to walk down the hall of my hospital and chat with the lab techs and lab scientists! :)
My medical romance books are set in challenging rural environments, and showcase medical characters who risk it all to save lives, all while lugging serious baggage that they have to work through if they’re going to find love.

Code Blue Christmas by Jillian David is a wonderful addition to her series, Yukon Valley Alaska Hospital series. It was fun to return to this tight knit community with a good group of coworkers and friends that provide support to each other. In book four we meet Dr. April Katz, a veterinarian who is in practice with her dad. We learn that April is struggling to make a decision about the future of her career. Her dad wants to step down and have her take over the vet practice in town. She doesn’t want to disappoint her dad but she has an alternative position with a wildlife rescue that she has just applied for. In school she did a residency in Wildlife and she is interested in pursuing something besides her dad’s dreams. It is shortly before Christmas and the medical staff are in the spirit with decorations and holiday apparel. April has an adorable little dog named Alpo. He has three legs and a huge personality. He is definitely a favorite part of the story for me.
Reggie Price has joined the hospital staff as the laboratory manager and is currently working on training his sled dogs to qualify for an upcoming race. He is following his brother’s dream. His brother was diagnosed with cancer while Reggie was in college. It changed his mindset and he took on additional jobs to help out his parents. Reggie ended up having problems with his grades and then had to change his plans to go to medical school. As the book opens, Reggie has come to the vet clinic to have his lead sled dog examined as she was injured. He is shocked to see the vet. April was his TA in college and she ended up failing him. He had a big crush on her and was not happy when his grade prevented his medical school acceptance. April is surprised to see him again too. After examining his dog, she tells him he will have to rest her and get some medicine for her. He isn’t happy about his dog’s injury and is worried he won’t have enough time to finish training the dogs to qualify in the upcoming race. Reggie’s future is uncertain to him as he feels he must compete the Iditarod before he can make choices about his life.
Reggie is very attracted to April but is hesitant and almost rude at times because he believes he can’t have anything like a relationship upset his plan. April had broken up with her emotionally abusive fiance before starting work at the clinic. So she is also very protective of herself and hasn’t dated. Reggie insulted April when he asked for her dad instead of her to check over his dogs. April was the one caring for his dogs however. Close to the race, she makes a house call to Reggie’s cabin to do a final check and confirm the dogs can race. The weather is terrible, frigid temperatures and heavy continuous snow. She ends up in a ditch and starts walking to Reggie. Luckily, he took the plow out to look for her and brought her back to his place. The pair end up snowed in with no electricity and a generator that goes out. They share kisses and eventually share the bed by the fireplace. Their steamy night has given both of them something else to think about in their life plan.
This is a terrific book. There is lots of romance, angst, drama and excitement. Jillian has created some more great characters with tragedy in their pasts. The story is heartwarming and well written. The characters are all genuine and very likable. I am glad all the people we’ve met in the prior books are in this as well. I hope there will be additional books coming as there are more characters for us to learn more about. This is a five star book I am happy to recommend.

I enjoyed being back in Yukon Valley, Alaska. In this, the fourth book in this series, April Katz, a veterinarian, has a big decision to make. Will she follow in her father’s footsteps and take over his small animal practice, or will she strike out on her own path as a wilderness vet working on wild animal rescue? April has been betrayed by her former fiancé, and she isn’t open to finding another love.
Reggie Price is new to Yukon Valley. He’s the new lab supervisor at the hospital. He’s put his own dreams aside to fulfill his brother Kyle’s dream of racing in the Iditarod. When Reggie was in college, Kyle became seriously ill. While he recovered, his health was impacted to the point where he could no longer deal with the cold and strenuous conditions dog sledding involved. Reggie took up Kyle’s dream, and with precise planning, he intends to make it come true.
This is a nice story of delayed love – April and Reggie knew each other in college – and a second chance romance. It’s a forced proximity/one bed situation that leads to spicy interactions between the two. Sadly, I didn’t like how Reggie often treated April. If I were to offer April advice, it would be to run. Run, April, run!!! Guys who talk to you the way Reggie periodically does, are not a good choice for a happy, long-term relationship. They’re fine when things are going their way, but become nasty when things get tough. And things in life do get tough, and he’ll demean you when they do.
Yes, I thought that April made the wrong decision where Reggie is concerned at the end.
I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. It’s well-written, but I couldn’t get over the way Reggie periodically humiliated and belittled April. How he didn’t trust her. I repeat that April should run and stay far away from him. This, sadly, was my least favorite book in this series.
On the plus side, I loved the dogs. They were almost human in their depiction, and they each had their own personality. I might have enjoyed this book more if it was only about the dogs.
Despite my problems with this book, I’m still looking forward to what comes next in this series. It’s sad that this book didn’t live up to its predecessors, but I won’t write the series off because of it. Go read the first three books in the series and then wait for book five.

Reggie Price is new to Yukon Valley. He’s the new lab supervisor at the hospital. He’s put his own dreams aside to fulfill his brother Kyle’s dream of racing in the Iditarod. When Reggie was in college, Kyle became seriously ill. While he recovered, his health was impacted to the point where he could no longer deal with the cold and strenuous conditions dog sledding involved. Reggie took up Kyle’s dream, and with precise planning, he intends to make it come true.
This is a nice story of delayed love – April and Reggie knew each other in college – and a second chance romance. It’s a forced proximity/one bed situation that leads to spicy interactions between the two. Sadly, I didn’t like how Reggie often treated April. If I were to offer April advice, it would be to run. Run, April, run!!! Guys who talk to you the way Reggie periodically does, are not a good choice for a happy, long-term relationship. They’re fine when things are going their way, but become nasty when things get tough. And things in life do get tough, and he’ll demean you when they do.
Yes, I thought that April made the wrong decision where Reggie is concerned at the end.
I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. It’s well-written, but I couldn’t get over the way Reggie periodically humiliated and belittled April. How he didn’t trust her. I repeat that April should run and stay far away from him. This, sadly, was my least favorite book in this series.
On the plus side, I loved the dogs. They were almost human in their depiction, and they each had their own personality. I might have enjoyed this book more if it was only about the dogs.
Despite my problems with this book, I’m still looking forward to what comes next in this series. It’s sad that this book didn’t live up to its predecessors, but I won’t write the series off because of it. Go read the first three books in the series and then wait for book five.

A story of plans. Those we plan for ourselves, those that get planned for us and then there’s those we can’t plan for. The story begins when Yukon Valley Hospital Lab Director/dog musher Reggie Price barrels into town veterinarian and his past TA in grad school Dr. April Katz. Neither knew that each other were in the small Alaskan town but both recalled the secret attraction they held for each other. Yet just like ten years ago timing is everything when you have a plan or trying to follow one.
I loved how the author dealt with the issues of plans from the two main character’s own life’s decisions and past experiences. They both had to come to grips with what they truly wanted for themselves. I thought these three quotes summed up the idea fairly well: “The plan only works if you work the plan.”; “Failing to plan is planning to fail.”; and “‘Life is what happens when you’re making plans.’” The dog mushing team and cute three-legged Alpo gave the book its “cuteness” appeal and of course the winter wonderland of Alaska is always a beautiful setting. The romance involves a five year age gap with April being older, its an interracial relationship, she has polycystic ovarian syndrome which caused problems in her past relationship and the steam level ramps up just over the halfway mark. I thought the book moved too slow in the beginning but about midway when the couple began to get past the timing issue as well as began to enjoy today and not worry over tomorrow’s plans, the book picked up pace and then sort of took on a snowball effect and came close to rushing the ending. I would have enjoyed hearing more about the actual fourteen days on the trail and experiencing it with the dogs there at the end but it was a sweet ending with Kyle there to experience it and the proposal was sweet!.

Code Blue Christmas by Jillian David
This story starts with Reggie. He and Princess, his sled dog are on their way to the vet when the dog leash gets out of Reggie's hand heads to a woman carrying a bag. Things get crazy and Reggie escorts the woman to the side of the building to safety so she won't fall. He can't believe it's April the woman who Made it possible for him not to finish medical school.
She realizes who it is also and informs him it was his fault he failed not hers. They end up going to the veterinary place and Alice gets her act together to start examining the animals in the waiting room.
Reggie thought he would be going to visit with the father not the daughter of the veterinary. She's very thorough in her examination of the dog. Reggie is training to be in the Adirondack by doing shorter races with his sled dogs.
I loved learning so much more about sled dogs And how they all survive out there.
The matchmakers have noticed them and arranged for them to do together more community service events during the Christmas holidas.
She was a big hit was letting the kids use her stethoscope. Reggie was a big hit with his knowledge of the sled and sled dogs.
They really make a good team to. He finally realizes the information she had given him about his dog was right on and his dog has cured 3 weeks later.
Reggie invites her to his cabin to do a visit with the dogs to make sure they are still in line for the race.
The weather has turned drastically cold and icy and he tries to contact her to tell her not to even come because the driving is horrible.
Reggie has background where he had to leave Medical school and he also donated bone marrow and he's racing the dogs for his brother.
She also has things hidden too. She was once married: she also has a weight problem and her father tries to help her by not indulging her wishes for food.
She remembers all the past comments about her weight. She also is torn about taking over for her father's vet business or going to a place where she thinks she would do a lot with the knowledge that she has.
You wonder at what point are these adults going to get together or are they just gonna divide and conquer their own goals.
Really like hearing about the weather up there the location it just sounds so beautiful all that white.
Great read I like hearing about this region especially and about the sled dogs.

I was intrigued by Reggie Price from the very beginning. He’s a man who thrives on order, precision, and having a plan for everything. But beneath his intense focus on training for the Iditarod lies a complicated past and burdens that gradually unfold throughout the story. His history with April, a veterinarian he once knew at university, adds another layer of tension. He’s attracted to her but also carries resentment, and his anxiety over his beloved dogs makes it difficult for him to trust her expertise. I found myself rooting for him to confront his past and learn to open his heart.
April was equally relatable. Torn between her father's expectations and her own career aspirations, she struggles with the familiar desire to please everyone while figuring out what she truly wants. I loved her honesty about her attraction to Reggie, despite his prickly personality and the complications standing between them.
The Alaskan setting was wonderful! The author brings the harsh winter weather, isolation, and close-knit community to life with vivid details. Jillian David has a gift for creating memorable, relatable characters, and this book is no exception. Reggie and April are both well-developed, and their relationship evolves naturally as they face personal and professional challenges. Their chemistry is heartfelt and believable, making it easy to root for them throughout the story.

Code Blue Christmas is the fourth title in the Yukon Valley, Alaska Hospital series. Reggie and April’s story stands on its own, but I recommend the entire series if you are new to it, as the residents of Yukon Valley, Alaska, have some amazing stories to tell. I’ve always been fascinated by dog-sledding, and I definitely enjoyed that sport being a huge part of the romance. Most of what you’d want to know before picking this one up is in the cover description. Emotionally? This one hits hard on a few levels.
Reggie and April have a history of sorts, and it’s a bit inconvenient right now, with both of them dealing with major issues in their lives. When one of Reggie’s dogs is injured, he’s about to run into a woman who had a major impact on his life back in college. Good and not so good. It’s fair to say there is tension between them at first. They each have big career and life decisions to make, and meeting up again is the worst possible timing… or is it? Never say never to a town full of matchmakers determined to bring this couple together.
I enjoyed Reggie and April’s romance. It’s well-written, engaging, emotional, and just steamy enough to be realistic. We’ll run into some familiar faces (if you’ve read the earlier titles), and I’ll always love that in any series. Another Alaska adventure! April Katz snd Reggie price have a history. April will be working at her father’s vet practice and Reggie is in charge of the lab at Yukon Valley Hospital. They meet again when Reggie takes his lead sled dog, Precious, to the vet for limping. When he gets to the vet office he is very surprised to see April Katz as the vet who will be seeing his dog.
April has a difficult decision to make. Is she going to stay at her father’s vet practice or is she going to explore another opportunity. Reggie is going to try to fulfill his ill brother’s dream of having his sled dogs run the Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
The Community Festival happens and all their friends want them to be together. Do they have a chance at a relationship? What happens at the race?
The Alaska setting is perfect for this small town romance. The scenes are do well described you can picture it all! The characters are well described and easy to get to know.
I would recommend this book to all!

This is my favorite book in this series! I loved it! I’m a sucker for Alaskan stories, but stories about veterinarians are the best! April is our Yukon Valley veterinarian and Reggie is a newcomer to town. However, these two knew each other in the past which brings in some great conflict. Reggie works at the hospital and is training his sled dogs for a race. Reggie needs to take one of this sled dogs to the vet and is surprised to find April at the vet clinic. Cute “second chance” meet cute.
This book was a lot of fun. It got me super excited for the holidays. There was spice and angst and just a fun plot. Both characters had great back stories and solid character development. This was well written with great conflict to keep me glued from start to finish. I really thought Reggie and April had a sizzling connection from the first scene together! Another thoroughly enjoyable book set in Alaska around Christmas when it is decidedly cold in the 49th state, especially with a blizzard to lower the temperature. When Reggie Price's lead dog pulls up limping, low and behold, he runs into Dr April Katz at the local vets, someone he had a run in with back at uni that affected his future plans. Training his sled dog team for the North Pole 500 in the hope of qualifying for the Iditarod, he needs to stay focused and not be distracted by a bubbly vet plus April has a serious decision to make. However, that proves somewhat difficult with an engaging cast of characters, alias matchmakers, who keep throwing them together. Jillian David creates yet another great installment in her Yukon Valley, Alaska Hospital series. Plus, gotta love the dog team, especially Precious, Kaaktuq, Kaknek and Flip. 🐾🐾

I love everything about this book. Jillian has a way of making you feel like you’re right there in Alaska. Her characters are strong and it was fun to watch Reggie Price and Dr April Katz build on a tedious relationship. Reggie is trying to fulfill his late brother‘s wishes. And April is trying to figure out how to tell her dad that she does not want to take over his business.
I absolutely love the sled dog part of it. I actually learned a little bit about it from this book.
So if you love Alaska, and dogs in a relationship that doesn’t start out just perfect. And I highly recommend this one.

Book four of "Yukon Valley, Alaska Hospital Series". Ten years ago, April Katz had been a TA and Reggie Price had been a student. When low marks had caused Reggie to fail her class, he had held a bit of a grudge. Life had threw both of them a few curves and here they were both in Yukon Valley, Alaska. Reggie had taken the Lab director position at the local hospital and April was helping her father in his vet practice. Reggie was on a quest to fulfil his brother's dream to race in the Iditarod and April was trying to decide whether to stay at the family practice or take a job as the director of a wildlife rescue clinic. The time wasn't ideal for a relationship or was it ???

Reggie resented April when she was the TA that gave him a bad grade in college. He doesn’t want her to be the veterinarian who examines his race dogs. He tries to get someone else and questions her medical opinions several times in this book. But he can’t fight the attraction he’s felt towards her for years. April’s ex was emotionally abusive and she should have told her parents the truth about him instead of letting them continue with their disappointment about the broken engagement. Reggie was only sled dog racing to fulfill his ill brother’s dream. He is so focused on it that he pushes others away and could lose his chance with April. April doesn’t want to disappoint her family and chase the dream she really wants. They both have things to work through in this steamy romance.

Reggie is a musher, it wasn't always his goal but he is a planner and he will give it everything he has. While April is taking care of Reggie's dogs, she feels a little sexual tension. Does he feel it? I liked all the information about mushing and dog care, it helped me to understand just how difficult it is. April and Reggie have a pretty steamy relationship, is it just a casual thing or more.

This is book 4 in the Yukon Valley, Alaska series. I have not read the previous books. This appears to be the last one in the series. April returns too the Katz Vet clinic to help her dad. Reggie is a brother trying to full fill his brother's dream of running the North Pole 500. When his lead dog develops a limp he takes her to the Katz clinic and is seen by April. when her treatments don't work he blames her for having to quit the race before the finish. The attraction between them takes a hit. This is a stand alone.

Reggie is working to race in the Idotrod to honour his brother's wish since he can't. When his lead dog starts limping he takes her to the local vet. To his surprise, and April's, she's a TA from his college days when he didn't do well in a course.
These two characters have their issues but it was fun to read as they got to know each other and learned more about themselves and each other. Loved it!.

These two characters have their issues but it was fun to read as they got to know each other and learned more about themselves and each other. Loved it!.

I love visiting Yukon Valley and this was no exception. Reggie is the head of the lab at the local hospital and is also training to qualify for Iditrod, to fulfill a dream of his older brother, who is ill. He needs a local vet for the care of his dogs, April is the town vet that works in her dad's clinic. Reggie and April have a history from their college days. April has always had a crush on Reggie. Will a blizzard change their lives?
Loved these characters. Especially Reggie who will not give up the dream of his brother, even with obstacles that may derail him. April was everything about Christmas! It was great catching up with previous characters. Am I seeing another book in the future for Hilda?

Code Blue Christmas written by Jillian David is an Alaskan medical romance that is part of the Yukon Valley, Alaska Series. This time it is less at the hospital and more of a vet clinic story with an injured sled dog. Dog sled owner, Reggie Price, is new at the hospital lab and is definitely a type A personality. There are some struggles in his life, but he is determined to oversee them all. Dr. April Katz is also a person with her own struggles working for her father at his vet clinic is one. These two have a past interaction but Alaska can be an isolated place. Also a place where past issues can be resolved so new relationships can become reality. A steamy romance once they work through these issues.

I really enjoyed their journey... it was interesting seeing how he tends to say the wrong thing a lot... great push and pull moments for these two. I was invested in seeing them find what makes them happy! A true small town Alaskan adventure!

I have read this whole series and have loved all of the books. Each one has the characters we've come to love, but, can all be read as standalones.
A younger brother wanting to fulfill a dream for his older brother who has been ill, brings Reggie to Yukon Valley and trying to qualify for the Iditarod. He also is the head of lab at the hospital.
After growing up in Yukon Valley, once she has her Veterinarian license, April heads back to work with her dad. This really wasn't what she wanted to do. Her dad can be persuasive, so she's here for now.
Reggie needs a vet for his dogs and April has been crushing on Reggie since college. Now they're in the right place, but is it the right time? With stress on both of them, can it work?

I enjoyed reading April and Reggie's story. There is nothing like a small town setting to bring humor and closeness to a growing relationship. April and Reggie sometimes felt the entire town was both rooting for and pushing them into a romance. But, first they both needed to decide what their dreams for the future held. Once they figured this out, their HEA was inevitable.

I loved this book it allowed me to feel like I was right there in the snow. It started a little slow, I put it down to start with but happy to say I stayed with it and really enjoyed it.

She is a veterinarian, set to take over her father’s practice. Her real dream is to be a wild animal vet. He is the new lab director and is also trying to fulfill his brother’s musher dream. Will he find what his dream truly is? Will his insecurities push her away. Will she give up her dream to fulfill her father’s wishes? This was such a sweet story. I absolutely loved it. Precious and Alpo stole my heart. Hopefully Hilda will get her happy ever after soon.
