I like Sally Harding's books and I really like those knit/crochet books from the publisher Ballantine. They all seem to go straight into the patterns with little introduction into materials and techniques. This one has several pages in the back for that stuff. I'm a fairly experienced knitter but not so much crochet-wise, though I am intrepid. I've held onto this book for many years but find I must thin my bookshelves and this one doesn't make the cut. I've never made anything from here and seem to appreciate the garments that look like they've been knit instead of crocheted... The shapes are pure 1980s with strong shoulders and oversized, boxy shapes. Many of the stitch patterns here inventive. Fun illustrations, and sometimes kooky model expressions. This is a solid book that is sure to inspire a die-hard crochet fan.
