Alexander “Bread” Conners II doesn’t move for just anything or anyone, and he never has. As a King of Kings Rider and a top investment banker, his name, like his pockets, carries weight, his presence commands respect, and his life stays disciplined. Women have come and gone, but love is what he seeks. Not the loud kind, not the temporary kind, but something solid that was meant just for him. Dr. Hestia Sanders Basil is everything he didn’t go looking for but somehow fits exactly where she’s supposed to be.
Hestia is built, not made. Her sharp mind, steady hands, and a heart she keeps guarded behind purpose and pressure makes her worthy. As a trauma surgeon and Mount Olympus Rider, she’s used to being the one people lean on, not the one that needs to lean. She wasn’t searching, but she’s in a place where she can be seen, and Bread sees her. No drama, no forbidden ties, just a connection that moves quiet but hits deep. Love doesn’t crash in; it settles in, strong and intentional. There is no hide-and-seek between them. It’s seek and be found.

Her overall desire is to use her fiction catalog to help change at least one person’s non-fiction reality.
This was a very fast-paced love story that can serve as a quick palate cleanser. A lot of the relationship building happens off page, so we’re mostly told about it rather than getting to fully see it unfold.
There isn’t much drama between the couple themselves. Most of the conflict comes from an outside situation involving the MMC and his daughter.
It’s a quick read and easy enough to get through, but nothing about it felt especially remarkable to me.
There are also a lot of callbacks to “Zeus” and “To Hades and Back,” so if you haven’t read those first, you might feel like you’re missing some context.
I like the way this author tells a story. She gives us drama, laughter, shady stuff, and loving parts, all in one story. This one was no exception. The motorcycle club and all that goes with that dynamic was told differently in this tale. The story was a good thing...
Mel Dau, oh my I swear you know how to spin a story. Thanks for giving us some good fun material. Im so glad to see one of my families have an update. Doc was ready when her blessing came. To see such compassion for someone that really seemed to not want it. Have to use the same person that you thoughtfully felt you never would need them. In the end all things worked together for the good. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Yayyyy Hestia! She has always been the best aunt, sis, and sister in love. It was definitely time she had her share of unconditional love. Bread was a hard working man father son and provider. He was just missing his queen. Bread knew what he wanted and was relentless in his pursuit. Just goes to show what happens when you’re a good person and patient the right and real love will find you and it exists. 10/10
Alexander (Bread) came full speed ! My man said I know what I’m looking for and a fun time ain’t it so if that’s what you want you can leave !!! Love a man that knows what he wants !! && Hes being the HBIC in the bike club and her career was so tea!!!!
Bread (alexander) had a daughter with fuck buddy he had in college and soon came his daughter Eloise but with her step dad losing his job at first Melanie wanted more money til her husband could get a job again but by that point Lawrence knew what had to be done for her live with her father. He knew she deserved to enjoy high school and not be a babysitter for her siblings she shouldn't have to.
Hestia, she such a great auntie the way she plays hide n seek with them . She was not interested in dating cause men either lied to her about being married or they got some std not worth it at all, but she still wanted to have a baby. I dont blame her.
I love the bonds they all have, but not going lie, my heart hurt for Jade. She loved her nephew, but they protect Jade cause they love her even if jade not with dorian.
The mentoring program (black girls table) I was in love when I read more on it cause, yes , the world needs more females in the medical field and other fields as well. Eloise got accepted in the mentoring program with hestia she been so excited telling her dad. The more his daughter told him about hestia, the more he wanted to do some research. I felt the more he did, he wanted to know her mom.
Yes!!! I knew it. I knew he would want her and even more after getting to know her n them spicy scenes 🥵.
Man I felt so bad for Melanie her husband Lawrence is a bitch i was heated after they saw what happened to her.
This book gives me mature vibes. The male lead is a single father with a healthy coparenting plan in place. He had some hiccups in the beginning but got it together before he decided what he wanted for his future.
Alexander/Bread is a financial advisor and is looking for "the one" to settle down. He relocates and joins a motorcycle club. His daughter now lives with him full-time.
Hesitate is a trauma surgeon that mentors other young girls who want to be surgeons as well. She is a part of a local motorcycle club as well.
Hectic and Alexander met at an event, and the attraction was evident. He pursued, and she answered. There was indirect drama that cause a little hiccup in theory journey.
Communication was key in their journey. Alexander was not interested in confusion of any kind.
Yes a BLP Series never disappoints but a Mel Dau book as part of that series will always have you ready to ignore the people around you and forget you have to be an adult and do things!!
My favorite people are back, the Basil Family and their were hints of my bestie’s family the Leota’s and those Smith-Washington’s cause Mel Dau’s books are just one big happy family!!
This late in life romance is everything with the right amount of laughter, crazy (Hades) and drama, that you will not be able to put it down.
Bread knew he found the one God made for him when her met Hestia in person, he had heard about her from his daughter who she was mentoring but when he saw her the rest was history.
So go ahead and add this book and series to your TBR you will not be disappointed!
I absolutely enjoyed this read, as I do with most of the works by Mel Dau. I loved that both Bread and Hestia were established in everything that made finding love more seamless. They were respected in their careers as an investment banker and surgeon, had full social lives and wonderful support systems. When Bread realized Hestia was the woman for him, he was all gas on making his intentions known and including her in his and Eloise’s life.
Though there was no drama in this love story, Melanie, the mother of Eloise and Bread’s old college friends with benefits, brought enough for the whole book. Melanie’s domestic situation showed how much of a girl’s girl Hestia really is and the love that all three of them have for Eloise. This was a great palette cleanser and now I’m ready for the next part of this MC series.
When Bread and Hestia first saw each other at their MC event, the sparks were very obvious. It didn't take long for them to act on the chemistry. I loved everything about this book. From the characters to the storyline as well as the camaraderie and laughter, everything fit so well together. I especially loved the mentoring aspect. The fact that Hestia was Bread daughter's, Eloise, mentor first made the relationship between Hestia and Eloise all that more special once Bread and Hestia got together. I'm glad that the author spoke on what Black girls/women have to go through in life and in the workplace. I was happy that characters from previous books were included. I can't wait to see if Hera will finally get her HEA.
I did appreciate that this story featured some truly grown folks because sometimes I need a break from the young drama. But Alexander and Hestia’s relationship moved so fast and most of their connection happened off page, so I felt like I was being told they were deeply in love instead of really seeing it develop.
A big chunk of the story focused on Alexander’s baby mama situation, which ended up overshadowing the romance for me. I honestly wish we got more actual relationship moments between Alexander and Hestia because I never fully connected to either character. Overall, this one was an okay read and honestly felt more like a filler entry in the series.
Bread came in fast and didn't take no breaks at all Hestia was open to it but Bread did not hold back at all fast relationship married lil family .. Even liked relationship with Ellie and Hestia as a stepmom myself enjoy there relationship started outta Mentor then Dad falls in love strong they don't play about each other either..
Now Melanie had to go through all that only for her friend frfr to lie on her because she was jealous of her.. oh yeah but most definitely would have divorce Lawrence because don't matter what nobody told you don't give you the right to put your hands on me ...
Alexander “Bread” Conner II didn’t just talk a big game—he is the big game. There’s just something about an educated man who loves being a father and doesn’t play when it comes to protecting and loving his woman. That combination is undefeated.
And Hestia? She was THAT GIRL. Intelligent, beautiful, confident, and completely unwilling to settle for anything less than what she deserved. I absolutely loved her.
This book had me hooked from beginning to end, and I enjoyed every single second of it. I’m officially back invested in this series.
I loved Bread and Hestia down! I was sad to hear about Jade and Dorian, but I hope she gets a serious lesson from this. I hope baby girl moves on well even if they eventually get back together. He can’t be the only now that his ass wanted to play. The only thing is….you cannot make me like Aaron. He did too much and allowed too much to be daddy and husband of the year that “deserves “ all this love and happiness. I roll my eyes every time he pops up with his funky ass happily ever after.
This was a quick read but it was so good. It held my attention from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. This was a grown folks story where Bread and Hestia meet and have an instant attraction, he pursues her with intention and they fall into a relationship. I loved that they weren’t playing games about their feelings and wants. I also loved Bread as a father. It was also nice getting updates on the other Basil siblings and their spouses. I’m looking forward to more stories from this family and associates.
Loved it, for this to be the third book in the saga, it makes me love this bunch of characters so much more. I def was looking forward to hestia having her own love and baby did it show up and show out. Bread did not waste anytime getting his woman and making it known that commitment was where shit was heading and Hestia knew he worth and was ready to accept that. Loved them together and her relationship with his daughter made it that much more amazing. I am interested to get the story on Dorian and Jade cause seems like might be a 2nd change type thing... 🤔 👀
Alexander a.k.a Bread is a man that is in want of only two things: to take care of his daughter and find the woman who is meant to be his wife. Enter Hestia, a renowned surgeon who has everything she has dreamed of except a child of her own. When their paths cross the attraction is immediate and undeniable. Their romance was solid from the start because they were both open to give and receive the love that they deserve. This was an enteraining read delivered in a way that only Mel Dau can.
Every book I’ve read so far has been amazingly written. The book pulls you into the world in which you’re reading about. You feel like you’re right there during everything…. Absolutely loved Bread’s intentional straight forward approach to Hess. Everything about him was intentional. Loved the maturity Hess had with Bread’s ex considering their daughter and how her life was being affected and willingness to still help the baby mama. I’m excited to see start the next book in this series. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading!!!!
This was cute! The arranged marriage and rivals-to-lovers combination definitely did what it needed to do. I loved the tension between them, especially when all that “I can’t stand you” energy started looking suspiciously like something else. 😂 The family drama kept things interesting too, so the romance wasn’t carrying the entire story. I did think certain parts could’ve been developed a little more, and there were moments where I wanted more from the characters emotionally. Still, I flew through it and had a really good time. Definitely worth the read.
Bread had tunnel vision when it came to getting Hestia! He set his sights on her, and didn't rest until she became more than Eloise's mentor. It wasn't hard since she was indeed feeling him, too! Their feelings blossomed fast. Nothing came between what they were building with one another. Melanie tried to bring her problems into their world, but they worked as a team to help her. This was an amazing read! I can't wait to see who'll be next from this crew!
I enjoyed this one from beginning to end. In true Mel Dau fashion, it is well thought out and well written with great characters and character growth. The message of this book, as well as the other two books in the series, are issues that need to be addressed. And as much as I enjoyed reading Doc and Breads' love story, Hades was my favorite character. Thank you, Mel Dau! Keep'em coming.
Yesssss, Bread and Hestia. Just like Hestia’s brothers, Bread (Alexander) does not play about her. I hollered when they all showed up at the motel. I loved how Hestia was a grown woman about every situation. There’s no need to get out of character, but you have to know she’s most definitely going to demand her respect. Bread was a grown man that knew what he wanted and took nothing less. I am loving this MC series.
MD has done it again with this biker book of love and family. Alexander "Bread" and Hestia were definitely crafted for one another professionally, mentally, and physically. The author blends family drama, love and chaos as smoothly and wild as the intimacy between the lovers. Worthy of five stars and weekend read.
Mel Dau does it again. I always love when this world comes together. The way Mel Dau is able to continue to weave other names from other series into all of her books is why I love this universe she has created. This book was cute because it was love that came easy and stayed strong. Great job!!
I was hoping Mel book took me back to Mt. O and KOK. A time was had because Hades is still my hot head. Hestia, queen, you shined in this one. I loved you and Alexander to pieces. You and the other women speaking life and success in those young women was remarkable. You helping Melanie was boss woman mentality for real.
Whew, with these two together, Dr. Hesitate Basil and Alexander Conner II, love looked good on them. No games and intentions made known. They flowed and jelled together perfectly.
I loved the respect that was held between the two, how she loved on Elosie, and her acceptance & thoughtfulness to helping Elosie's mother, in her time of need, regardless of what Bread thought.
Beautiful story, love story about two grown up mature adults. It was great to catch up with some characters from the previous books. Will Jade get to tell her story? Please😉😉. This story touches on domestic violence. Hestia Basil and Alexander/Bread Connors didn't play about each other. Kudos to the author 👏🏾👏🏾
This was a great read as with all the book. Bread found his person and the both of them were really for it all. I'm glad he stepped up to the plate correctly and was spot on with his woman. His daughter had a mentor that became her stepmother and she gained a best friend in the program.
This was a really quick good read… I love the Bail family and the Mt. O’s so it was definitely refreshing to see Hestia get her happily ever after with Bread. I loved him for her so much because he was mature and about his money and about her. i love these motorcycle club families so much and I can’t wait for Hera and what’s going to happen with Jade
