Long live Queen Shara and her mighty Blood!!!
I absolutely loved this book. Hell I love this entire series. It’s fast paced, filled with action and plenty of sexy time. Shara is so strong, smart and cunning and always underestimated. I love it!

Amazing! Each book just gets better! Definitely read in order!!
Shara barely gets home from her victory against the Dauphine when she's off to New Orleans to help save a trapped Queen. The real Leonie Delafosse is buried in a pit on her property. But saving that Queen has consequences as well. The Dauphine has had decades to set a plan into action should anyone kill her. Now that she's gone, her trap has been set. Shara had found evidence from over 40 Queens that the Dauphine had impersonated, which means they are dead. Now Shara needs to find where their bodies are to be able to free their souls.
Shara has also found out something else. The Queen of Rome had five of Esetta's Blood when she summoned her to Rome months ago but she never told her, instead Shara took only the mighty King Kraken. Marne was working with Rosalind Valois, the Dauphine's granddaughter, who betrayed Esetta Isador by not taking care of her Blood as promised.
Now Shara will bring justice to both of them. Because even Triune Queens aren't above the law.

This review is going to be all praise for this amazing author and series! This is one of my favorite vampire series. I was here at the beginning, and I'll be here for as long as she keeps writing. I was so excited about this release that I even bought it twice! I'm also an ARC reader, but I purchased the book before realizing she'd already sent the ARC link to my email. 😂
I'm so excited to see how Shara handles the Dauphine's mess. It's fascinating to see how these queens, who've been plotting and planning for centuries, will play their cards. I also love getting a glimpse of Karmen; it's always nice to see how the timelines between the series are interwoven.
I love Leonie and can't wait to learn more about her and watch her grow, just as we've seen Mayte grow. I wonder how much the goddesses will choose to intervene and whether they'll be allowed to defend Isador the way they defend their own houses. I have SO many questions heading into Book #3, and I can't wait to find out the answers!
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but that last 10% of the book was absolutely DELICIOUS. Chef's kiss. 🤌🏼

Long live Shara Isador!
I will absolutely devour anything Joely Sue writes. This book is part of a series. You must read the series in order to understand what’s happening in this book. I also think I could have probably benefited a reread of at least the last book as I had a hard time in the beginning of getting into the story.
One thing I love about this series is all of the mythology lore. I appreciate the research that has most definitely gone into this aspect of the series. I love how equal and fair the love Shara shows for each of her blood is.
The title of this book is adeptly named. Shara is a force to be reckoned with and is making Triune level queens accountable for their actions. She is a hero to many while ridding the earth of treachery! I cannot wait for the other seats of Trikelese table filled and for Shara to become the queen her blood and readers know her to be!
Shara adds to her blood in this book by saving her mother’s former blood in her crusade to purge the wrong doings of older Triune level queens. The story building was next level and the plot line really developed well in this book. Shara does save one queen who becomes very close to Shara and her other female blood. This queen will ultimately, or highly likely, have her own story line and mythology to follow.

Their Vampire Queen series is one of my absolute favourite series. It's a frequently re-read. So while I rarely ARC read, when Joely offered me one, I couldn't say no. I gobbled it up so fast that I'm going to need to re-read it when it's released.
The series follows Shara, a vampire queen (the most badass of all vampire queens) and her gradually expanding harem of Blood (vampires that can shift), so you get the best of both vampire and shifter worlds. Steeped in mythology and history, every single character is distinct, and I love that about these books. Pro-female power and found family, it's my own personal catnip. While I enjoy RH, they can turn into a "band of Joes" for me, because the men blend into one. But not this series, no siree! My favourite character is G, but I love them all.
Don't read this book without the rest - go and read the series that leads up to it, you will not be disappointed (and you may not sleep either - sorry, not sorry). Start with Queen Takes Blood. However, if you are waiting on tenterhooks for this to be released, you will not be disappointed. It's called the purge, but holy sh** Shara scorned the MTFKN earth! She's going to town on all those bad queens and making them answer for their crimes. And obviously there's some hot, hot spice!

June 2, 2026So I read book 1 of this return & I'd been looking forward to this one. I read till 10% when I realised I only half remember the lore so it was getting difficult for me to comprehend it all 😅. I mean, it's a problem as I haven't read all the main series books, mostly checked em out. I did still read a couple chapters at random lol. I will try again after reading them all, may take me months tho.
Shara ends this with 17 (living) bloods. Damn, loving everyone was already a bit difficult & they had to make lines/routine for it, & now... Omg. She's dedicated to give them all time tho, which is great.
For all bloods, she comes first. Which does lead to her being their primary romantic connection, there aren't many interconnections in this so it's like a true harem of her. I did like that we get Daire & Ezra's scene, I understand but it also irks me that they need her permission to even be alone together. Of course, she's happy to see them all love eachother.
I realise, I like harem/polycules more where they've an equal standing with eachother. Despite being queen/king, of course there's a hierarchy but it is never as apparent in this series with so many people to navigate.
These are just my observations & I still enjoy this, I would need a reread for max enjoyment tho.

Queen’s Purge picks up hours after the ending of Queen’s Crusade. As I was excited to see if Thierry would show up again, I was extremely pleased to see him show up in the first couple of paragraphs. Other than Thierry’s subplot, I wasn’t sure what story was left to tell, but I shouldn’t have doubted Joely! This book is significantly more plot driven than previous books which fit nicely in helping Shara’s plot grow. Plot holes from previous stories have been resolved which is always appreciated. The only thing I wish to have seen more of is Daire. His character did say that the more the harem grew, the lower down the rankings he would go. However, it didn’t expect that to mean he would turn solely into the foil for Seik’s character. Beyond this small details, I enjoyed the book, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I dread the day this series comes to an end and nearly wept with joy to see another book is planned for Shara and her Blood! While I certainly enjoy and love getting to know her siblings in the spin-off series, my heart will always belong to the House of Isador.
As always, I sacrificed sleep to devour the entire book in one sitting because it's pretty much impossible to put down. The fact that Joely can create so many stories in the same world, and each one is even more enriching than the last, is nothing short of amazing. True to form, the characters all have depth even if they can only squeeze in a little spotlight at a time. I've gone from a fan of Greek mythology to all God mythology. Who knew there was so much missing from those high school history lessons? I might have enjoyed the subject more if Burkhart was teaching the class 😆
Throw in all the bloody chaos, that unwavering devotion and love, and even the heart-wrenching moments on top of every other element, and I only come out loving and wanting more. Can't wait to see what happens next! I will do my best not to beg for it in the meantime!

I absolutely loved Queen’s Purge! This book gave me the perfect excuse to go back and re-read all of Shara’s books again, and honestly, I enjoyed every minute of revisiting her journey.
One of my favourite things about this book was finally seeing Shara fully embrace her role as the powerful Truine Queen she was always destined to be. Watching her grow into her strength and confidence after everything she’s been through was so satisfying, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.

i really do love these
I really do love these … but the time in between and all that can happen in a book …
With so much time in between, I forgot how spicy it is. I appreciate getting to see all the Blood, but because of that - everything else seems rushed. So much was accomplished in this book but we also didn’t get to see the Isador Blood come home away from Paris. I want to see those conversations.
From start to finish, there’s no downtime and so much happens but then there’s such a long break before another book is written.
There are also times when you’re expected to have read the other queens’ stories so you get the background, but I don’t care about them.
Overall, as good as the others! Somehow with a 400+ page book, I still wanted a bit more. Like I want to go home, not end in Paris.

This book is way deep in the world of Their Vampire Queen, and should not be read by people who do not understand the world. It would make no sense.
This book is a direct continuation of Queen's Crusade. And, wow, it is indeed a purge. We finally get an understanding of the implications of Isis's charge to fundamentally change the structure of the vampire order -- and, indeed, that change is accompanied by a lot of bloodletting.
The pace of the book is rather uneven -- which may or may not put readers off. The first half is mostly sex and blood as Shara recharges herself and her Blood. The second half has the conflict (and, wow, there is a lot of that).
I look forward to Queen's Alliance -- what has been torn down in Crusade and Purge now has to be rebuilt (hopefully better).

Wow, Go Burkhart!
If anyone thought this series was trickling to a close. Burkhart has laid that thought to rest. Instead she has come out blazing in the 2nd installment of the Vampire Queen Returns with whole new queens, bloods and possible storylines that will take readers on whole new exhilarating rides. So much so that I wished Burkhart next book was another in this series. Regardless of which story is next, however, I can't wait as I know somewhere down the road, they will all be linked while adding far more depth to the characters, world building and storyline. This series is truly a masterpiece and I look forward to an exciting , entertaining and fantastic ride.

These books have always gone for shock factor, and bits that make you cringe, but I found this to be the worst. There is a warning at the front, but it’s just a personal thing that I find super gross and nausea inducing. It’s not even the first time cannibalism has happened in this series, I just found this one to be more extreme and visceral. So kudos for the excellent writing I guess.
As usual, there is a lot of blood and sex and all the bodily fluids spraying and soaking and sharing around. Plenty of action and politicking and uncovering deception from years past. Plus, new blood to learn about in the next book.

More of 3.5 stars book but I will be generous and rate up to a 4.... it was a good installment and I mostly enjoyed it but it was a lot of talking / sexy time and then rushed action. At times I could not track what was happening once the action started.
Most annoying and random was the author bringing in two new(ish) queens and deciding we need to read details of them telling to them everything that has ever happened and how their world works. So booooorrrring, just pages with tedious dialog about stuff we already know. I hope this isn't repeated in future books. If you want to remind your readers what happened previously, have a glossary of characters and terms for reference

Shara is back at it again. Our Queen doesn’t get her much deserved break quite yet, the Goddesses still have work for her to complete. Shara still has paths that are set for her, long before her birth, and new plots to unravel. Along the way she hears the Goddesses call for war. They call for justice, and they have chosen their Queen. They demand the Triune to be restored and filled with new blood. New bonds are forged as well as old ones broken, the journey is not always easy. Will Shara win in her game of Love? Or will the price she is asked to pay become too high?

Wow ! This series gets better and better, Shara has really come into her own and has now become a strong vampire queen. Her bonds have developed with all of her blood and everyone has settled into place. Really enjoyed this story and seeing all of the choices shara made and her strength compared to other queens she goes up against. Would definitely recommend this book, can’t wait for the next one on the series ! Xx

Another awesome addition to the vampire queen series! My favorite series by the author, this newest addition doesn't fail to keep you on your toes with House Isadors' newest adventures! Selfishly, I wish we got all the behind the scenes activities that were left out in this book, but also recognizing the fact of not trying to draw the book too far out. I cannot wait for the next one!

the story just keeps getting better
I adore this author and this series. The way all the different characters fit into the overarching plot is amazing! Reading it is like watching puzzle pieces slowly click together. I adore this author and this series. The way all the different characters fit into the overarching plot is amazing! Reading it is like watching puzzle pieces slowly click together. I have been in such a book slump. Nothing makes me more happy than Shara’s story. I love that even though to me it has been awhile since I have read a book from this series the intensity is the same. The ball is never dropped and I am gripping my phone ready to see what is in the next chapter. love Love LOVE

Awww, soooo good!!
I really do love these characters. I think it has to be hard to write so many characters and make them unique and memorable. Joely Sue Burkhart does it seemingly with ease. Although this is the second book of the second series, it flows seamlessly. I truly enjoyed this addition to the Isadore House series. Can't wait for the next!

Wow what a ride this book was. Shara is amazing. I love how she loves and cares for each of her blood. We get to meet a new Queen in this book. So many shocking surprises in this book and I can't wait to see what Shara will do next. Absolutely loving all the books in this series.

Shara is back and this portion of her story is just as full of action and suspense as the previous ones. We get to see her find new blood and meet other new characters as she sets out to free the captive queens.

As always, LOVED. These books just warm my heart so much, they are my comfort and I'm so happy it exists at all. Shara is one of my favourite female main characters, thank you Joely, for this wonderful series.
