Material things are given aplenty. Money is no problem. Faith is survival. Safety and protection is what’s lacking. For Amber Wallace, the only child of a well-to-do family, it seems as if she has it all. People from the outside in, envy her and wants what she has. As the onlookers wish for her greener pastures, she craves for the normalcy. She might be spoiled but it comes with a heavy price and plenty of secrets.
I was hesitant initially because it is quite graphic initially, (necessarily, given the gist) and I can be a bit of a prude. But once I got into the storyline I WAS HOOKED! This book helped me realize nothing is ever what it seems for anyone, never be impressed and never underestimate anyone…especially YOURSELF! I found some of the “fillers” to be pointless, just a means of prolonging…but all in all it was a great read and I actually learned a lot from it which was honestly unexpected. I experienced every emotion fathomable reading this book! I would recommend, and I will definitely read other work from this writer!
This story is such a trigger for me! I knew going in that I would be triggered but I pushed through. To hold secrets of that magnitude is so dangerous. To not be able to tell someone for fear of retaliation or noone believing you. Having to pull a mask on everyday and pretend that your life Is so grand so beautiful so perfect. Just for your soul to be rotting from the inside out. This story hits a Lil different but was so very touching.
I will not say what the book is about because the title alone should be enough. However the only thing I never appreciated was the poems after each chapter. After the first two poems i skip reading them. Maybe one of two was good enough to show her talent. That to me was my only down side. Not a bad read. Love the prayers and scripture verses.
There was some many emotions I went through reading this book I am also a survivor and I too once questioned GOD so this book really hit home for me. I love the scriptures & poetry. And Peanut is my fav. character love that little girl but I enjoyed all the characters except one the storyline was very different and I liked that I will be looking out for more books from this author.
This book was an emotional roller-coaster filled with great highs and lows. I would never wish harm on anyone, but the way the main character Amber is able to endure her pain and sorrow is admirable. I applaud the author and her ability to captivate and stimulate the reader. I am in love with all of the characters and their quirky relationships. Emily has no filter!! I pray for anyone who has had to endure that kind of pain and I was glad to read how she was able to find love in the mist of her sorrow. Great Book!! Wish I could know what happens when they go to college and what happens to the roommates, that would be a great book !!
