Alas! Georgiana’s near-elopement has been revealed for all to read in The Morning Post! Georgiana is devastated; her brother cannot show his face in Society; the Fitzwilliams are in an uproar.
But like the true friend that he is, Mr. Bingley steps in to offer his support during this stormy time, and Mr. Darcy and Georgiana take refuge at Netherfield Park, where they meet the nearby Bennet family.
Can five sisters help poor Georgiana recover from her anguish and shame? How will Colonel Fitzwilliam react to the news of Georgiana’s experience? And can the Fitzwilliams and the Darcys ever recover their position in society? Can there truly be silver linings to such a terrible storm?
I always look forward to Ms Wallace’s offerings, and Silver Linings delivers. A softer Mrs Bennet plays a significant role; becoming the perfect mother hen for Georgiana. Consider her Austen’s version, but on Prozac. Mary also has an outsized role.
The main story, albeit based on a weak(ish) premise, features a lot of personal growth for Darcy.
While this is a five-star book, Ms Wallace relies on ai to narrate her audiobooks. I take issue with that, and deduct one star. If Ms Wallace should issue audiobooks read by humans, I will return the fifth star.
What if Wickham had sold what happened in Ramsgate to a gossip news paper
The story is a very entertaining story shown the possible positive events along with negative consequences. A very unexpected silver linings along with not so silver linings. I really enjoyed the story. Lots of short chapters showing events occurring to all the characters from Pride and Prejudice. Very original.
It was most interesting to see a domino effect in this story; one change from canon led to numerous trickle down effects for the better and many silver linings. I liked the Bennet family’s care for Georgianna, especially Mrs Bennet. The scene with Wickham and Colonel Fitzwilliam, happened upon by Elizabeth and Mary, was both satisfying and intriguing. I’m quite likely to read this one again. Two questions: what did childless Charlotte do after Collins’ passing? And what was the secret the countess held over Lady Catherine’s head. I wish to know!
The entire novel hinges on the story of Georgiana's near-elopement being published in the newspaper. The writing style is quite simple, filled with deliberate phrase repetitions and liberally sprinkled with exclamation points. Extremely low angst, it provides virtually everyone with a HEA.
A Pride and Prejudice variation where the events at Ramgate and Georgiana Darcy are hinted at in the press. How will the Darcys cope with their reputations ruined, and their relationships with the Bennets and others when they eventually arrive at Netherfield An entertaining and well-written story
This is beautifully written. One change in the Georgiana/Wickham plot causes ripples that alter events and soften characters -- Caroline becomes almost likeable, Mary is a heroine, etc. It's all believable, and the resolution gratifying. Well done.
When I realized that the Daddy's were were being shunned wrongly, I almost quit reading. But in a page or two, it started to get fascinating. I have read several hundred variations. And this one is righ.t up there with the top crust!
An absolutely delightful and entertaining variation inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice by author AnnaMarie Wallace. I enjoyed it.
