An Egyptian ship sails into a bay near an Ancient British settlement. The sailors have come to trade, but they find that they return with more than they'd bargain for: Sabor, the son of the chieftain, sails with them, a prisoner. Sabor never settles into the life of slavery he's destined for in Egypt. Taunted and hated by many and loved only by Nofret, a dancing girl in his master's household, he becomes an outlaw and a leader of revolt, a scourge to the Egyptian royal household, until 'the white cat', as he comes to be called, is caught and placed on trial for his life
My review is´nt really a review. I remember reading this book as a kid and I´ve been looking for it ever since. i tried numerous different search words on the net, tried many potential author-names. And then suddenly BAM! i found it under three first search words i always use: "Den vita katten".
See, I´m Swedish. "Den vita katten" means, offcourse, "the white cat". Now I will try and find it and re-read it in English.
As I remember it as a kid I was very impressed with the worldbuilding. I felt as i was presented an accurate historic setting, plausible situations of how it could have been and at the same time I was swept away in a wonderful story.
It is funny to think back and find myself at 10-12 years old praising how competent I thought the writer was. "This was the way to write. Great carachters and story, and you teach the kids something at the same time". haha
I can only hope when i get my hands on the book again I will find it as enchanting and "factual", haha, as I remember it.
