Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction - Jack Frost/Pitch Black

Twenty two years have passed since the defeat of Pitch, and Jack lives alone, touch-starved, with only the company of a solitary Nightmare. One evening the Man in the Moon sets him on a path that will lead him to unexpected relationships, draw the attention of the Guardians to a new coalition of villains, and challenge Jack's every notion of what it is to be good, evil, and what it is to live in the shadows.

I found this story on AO3 searching through the D/s tag. It had an insane amount of kudos and comments, even though it's set in one of the tiniest fandoms out there. I started reading, took a break to rewatch RotG, resumed reading and haven't stopped till I got to the end. It made me cry on the train (twice, I think, although it might have been more), and whimper mumbling "no no no nononono" while my SO patted my shoulder trying to remind me we were on public transport. I think I re-read the underground parking lot scene at least ten times, along with many more favourite moments. Then I reread both parts once more. Then I read Game Theory... What can I say, it seem that this world never really leaves you, or maybe you never really leave this world :)

I am not the biggest ROTG fan, nor Pitch/Jack shipper.
BUT I LOVE PIA'S WRITTING, so I will read everything.
Did not disapoint.

it's the freaking best fanfiction ever, I don't know what else to say, it's just so good. So intense, too. Delicious slow-burn.

The story that started it all. I've finally read it.
And now that I did, I know it was better for me to read the Fae Tales Verse first.

This was way lighter and sweeter compared to Game Theory. There were still gut-wrenching moments, like the ending with the cliffhanger. But I didn't FEEL that much, didn't feel overwhelmed throughout the book.

It also reeds more like a novel rather than a serial, it has a nice and easy flow, I could easily follow along.
The biggest difference in the writing is that I think the author didn't let themself go as much as with the Fae Tales Verse. It feels like they were holding back.

So It was different, but still enjoyed it.

Ahhh Its horrendous that I haven't read this earlier. This is basically of when Augus is the Unseelie King and being controlled by nightmare king . But obviously told in the point of view from another character, Jack Frost. This is sooo good , and will read the next one after this as this is a cliff hanger. If you're aware of the Fae tales, and Game Theory from same author, in that same world timeline, this happens before Game Theory. So Gwyn, Augus, Gulvi, Ondine , all make an appearance!!

This book quite literally changed my whole view of literature. The dynamic between the two main characters is unrivaled in any expanded fanfic I've ever read. Thank you Pia!
