She’s in over her head.

Evangeline Rutherford never meant to end up the owner of more horses than she knows what to do with, but her boyfriend’s bad decisions have a way of becoming her consequences. When an unexpected delivery of neglected Thoroughbreds arrives, she hires the first farrier she can find, ready to write a check and move on with her life.

Except the farrier who shows up on her farm doesn’t care that she already has a full-time career, or that she knows nothing about horses. He’s aggravating, judgmental, and demands that she be more than a figurehead in her own business.

But she’s not the type to back down from a challenge.

The last thing Gideon Stewart needs is a rich client living out an ill-advised cowgirl fantasy, but he can’t bring himself to abandon horses in pain. It doesn’t matter that Evangeline keeps showing up to the barn in a pencil skirt, or that he wants to punch her boyfriend in the face. He’s just there to do a job.

But as the weeks pass, he starts to see through the mask she wears to the real eager to learn, with a spine of steel and a soft spot for his dog. When the walls between them start to crumble, he has to decide just how far he’s willing to go for a woman who’s as off-limits as she is out of his league.

He’s not prone to crossing lines, but she may just be impossible to resist.

All she has to do is prove her worth.

Prove Your Worth was a book that helped me figure out something about my own reading preferences.

I realized one of my biggest deal-breakers is when a romance begins with one of the main characters already in a long-term relationship and spends a significant amount of time exploring it. The first third of the book was slow for me because of that, and it took some patience to fully settle into the story.

Once I did, though, I understood why Gemma Brooks chose that approach. By showing Eva's existing relationship, the story makes it clear why Gideon is the person she's meant to end up with. Their romance never relies on blurred boundaries or emotional cheating, and I appreciated how firmly Gideon stood by his principles, even when his feelings grew stronger. His respect for Eva and his refusal to cross the line made me like him far more than I expected after our rocky introduction. He most definitely comes under category of cinnamon roll-MMC

Eva was probably my favorite part of the book. She's a capable corporate lawyer who approaches life analytically, and I loved watching her recognize that the relationship she'd built no longer reflected what she truly wanted. Her growth felt thoughtful rather than dramatic, and the difficult decisions she made never felt rushed. black cat—FMC

The friendships added so much warmth. Gideon's close-knit circle, Eva slowly finding a place among them; Maddie and Lark, Angus the endlessly affectionate dog; horses ; and the farrier setting all made the world feel lived in. I also appreciated the insight into horse care—it was clear the author put a lot of research into Gideon's profession & the clear and effecient way Eva planned every single decision at each level of her life

My favorite moment , though, was Carmichael's conversation about love, healing, and taking responsibility for becoming a better person. That was the passage that stayed with me long after I finished reading.

The romance has plenty of chemistry and spice, but what I enjoyed most was its emotional maturity, patience, and respect. While the beginning wasn't entirely for me, I'm glad I stayed with it, and it left me with a better understanding of the kinds of romances I connect with most.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
I genuinely don't know how this series keeps getting better, but Prove Your Worth completely exceeded my expectations.
Eva was such a refreshing protagonist. I admired how strong she appeared on the outside while quietly carrying so much on the inside. Her journey wasn't about magically overcoming everything overnight—it was about learning to trust, heal, and realize that she didn't have to carry every burden alone. That felt incredibly real.
And then there's Gideon.
I absolutely loved him. He isn't the loud, over-the-top romantic hero. Instead, he's patient, emotionally mature, protective without being controlling, and willing to confront his own flaws. Watching him slowly understand Eva while also working through his own insecurities made him one of my favorite book boyfriends.
What I appreciated most was that their relationship wasn't built on perfection. They misunderstood each other, made mistakes, and had moments where communication failed, but they always felt authentic. Their growth—both individually and together—made every emotional scene hit even harder.
The supporting characters added so much warmth to the story. They made the world feel lived-in and reminded me that healing doesn't happen alone—it happens because of the people who choose to stand beside you.
This book is about so much more than romance. It's about self-worth, forgiveness, vulnerability, and finding the courage to let people into your life even after you've been hurt.
By the last few chapters, I was completely invested in Eva and Gideon's story. I smiled, I got frustrated with them, and I definitely became emotional more than once.
If you enjoy romances with emotional depth, realistic character development, meaningful relationships, and protagonists who actually grow throughout the story, I can't recommend Prove Your Worth enough.
Eva and Gideon's story is one I'm not going to forget anytime soon, and I already can't wait to see where the series goes next.

“Some stories don’t just give you a romance—they remind you what it means to find a place where you truly belong.” 🤍

Prove Your Worth completely stole my heart. From the very first chapter, I was invested in Eva’s journey as she tried to rebuild her life and prove—to herself more than anyone else—that she was capable of starting over.

And then there’s Gideon… 🥹🤠 Book boyfriend material from start to finish. He’s protective without being overbearing, patient when it matters most, and the way he quietly shows his love instead of constantly saying it? Absolutely swoon-worthy. Watching him slowly tear down his walls while encouraging Eva to believe in herself made my heart melt.

The romance is a beautifully paced slow burn, full of longing, tension, and those little moments that somehow mean everything. I loved that their relationship wasn’t rushed—it felt real, earned, and incredibly satisfying.

The small-town ranch setting was the perfect backdrop, adding so much warmth and charm to the story. Between the horses, the found family, and the close-knit community, I wanted to pack my bags and move there myself.

What I appreciated most was the emotional depth. This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story about healing, learning to trust again, and discovering that your worth isn’t defined by your past or other people’s expectations. Gemma Brooks balances heartfelt emotion with humour, chemistry, and plenty of unforgettable moments.

While I would have loved just a little more time with Eva and Gideon after everything they’d been through, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed their journey.

Gideon & Eva

I can always tell when a book is going to have me hooked, and that's when the characters have dialogue towards one another but their true feelings contradict what they just said. It leaves a pang in my heart and makes me want to keep reading to see how things can turn around.

Eva is an overwhelmed Lawyer who is now living on a ranch with too many horses that she doesn't know what to do with. When her then boyfriend buys 3 new horses and they arrive to the ranch injured, Eva asks for help. Here enters the sexy tattooed Farrier, Gideon.

Gideon goes out to help Eva with her horses but wont let the city lawyer off the hook. He wants her to care about the horses and prove her worth that she is here for the right reasons. After a lot of dislike it portrayed they begin to get to know one another on a deeper level. Gideon starts to see that Eva isn't just a city girl, she genuinely cares about these horses and this ranch. Gideon falls hard and fast but the thing he can't get past, she's already taken by someone else... He's just hoping that Eva realizes she deserves so much better and that she will give him a chance.

I enjoyed this book very much. I didn't read book one of Aladyne Stud so I kind of felt in Eva's shoes when there was banter and inside jokes between the friend group. Even though I hadn't read book one, it still read very easily. I loved getting to read Gideon and Eva's story. This book had a ton that I love in a story. Banter, pining, swoony moments, and "she's mine" energy.

Wowza. I get pulled in deeper with every book in this series.
While I loved Book 1, Book 2 twisted and tugged at something deep inside me. There were so many themes and moments that hit close to home and simply couldn't be ignored.
I absolutely adored Eva and the strong front she puts up. As a woman who sometimes struggles with loneliness and figuring out how to make friends, this part of the story really resonated with me. How do you let people in? How do you regain a sense of normalcy after trauma—or even after years of neglecting your own life before finally opening your eyes to it?
The misunderstandings throughout the book were another huge point of connection for me. In a world so filled with technology, tone can be easily misconstrued, and even missing a small piece of information or gossip can completely change the narrative.
And Gideon... 🥵 Book boyfriends are always the hottest when they're emotionally aware and willing to understand themselves on a deeper level. I absolutely loved how he refuses to say that jagoff's name. His own insecurities coming to the surface played perfectly into the reality of this story.
Because this isn't a fairytale.
It's a story about real life, pain, love, healing, and learning how to move forward.
I did not expect to bawl my eyes out right alongside this entire group. I know what it's like to start something and realize partway through that it matters far more than you ever expected. How something seemingly simple can end up changing you completely.
Honestly, I just can't wait for Book 3.

A judgmental farrier, a woman completely overwhelmed by the consequences of someone else’s terrible decisions, and a group of neglected Thoroughbreds forcing them into each other’s orbit? I was seated.

Eva might arrive at the barn in a pencil skirt, but she refuses to remain the clueless figurehead Gideon initially assumes she is. She keeps showing up, asks questions, learns what the horses need, and slowly begins reclaiming control of a life that has been shaped by everyone except her.

And Gideon? He is gruff, observant, frustratingly honest, and already far more invested than he wants anyone to notice.

Their relationship develops through steady tension rather than instant declarations. The dislike softens into reluctant respect, the respect becomes trust, and suddenly Gideon is seeing the determined, tender woman beneath Eva’s carefully composed exterior.

I especially loved that Eva’s journey was about more than choosing between two men. It was about recognizing how much she had been carrying, understanding that surviving is not the same thing as living, and finally expecting more from the people allowed into her life.

Add rescued horses, small-town connections, found family, a soft spot for Gideon’s dog, and a man who falls first while insisting he is only there to do a job.

Sure, Gideon. We believe you.

Prove Your Worth is tender, grounded, emotionally satisfying, and quietly sexy—the kind of romance that reminds you the right person will never make you beg for the care you deserve.

this book was so damn good.

Prove Your Worth hooked right from the beginning & this is only this author's second book she's published & it was perfect, no complaints, i fell head over heels in love with Gideon and Eva. I'm telling you this is the hidden gem that you do NOT wanna miss out on!!!

It stunny, fresh, beautiful, and doesn't shy away from some of the heavier themes (and it's handled with the best care). I was smiling like an idiot and I have no regrets.

READ THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE PHENOMENAL BOOKS!!!!

And since I know this author IRL, (she was a professor of mine), I was shocked to see MY name being thanked in the acknowledgments and I promise you I just about started crying. This book is an amazing and funny and spectacular read. For this to be the second book this author has ever written, it's just shocking how amazing it is (although it's no surprise because this lady is good at what she does and knows romance!!!)

So happy I signed up for the arc because of course I was gonna read about it & shout about it from the rooftops!!! 🥹🫶🏻💕

Thank you to this sweet & amazing author & Epica PR for this arc because it was my honor and pleasure to be able to read all about Eva and Gideon. 🥰

I read this as an arc and the following review is voluntary and my own.

I went into this blind. I had not read any of Gemma Brooks previous work and whilst I was aware it is book 2 of a series, I really like the sound of synopsis. It was made clear that this was an interconnected standalone, and I can confirm you are not losing anything from the story by not reading the first book. However, it has made me want to read more from this series.

We meet Eva, a strong self sufficient woman who does not like to be told she cannot do something, who has the quick retorts and some good ‘flanter’ with our MMC Gideon. She comes to realise early on that she is making a mistake in certain life choices and sets to it to change those choices and make better ones, which end up blowing up all in a single day.

Gideon our brooding, grumpy farrier trots into Eva’s life and straightaway pushes her buttons.

Mistakes are made by both and lines are blurred between employer and employee.
I really enjoyed the pacing and flow of the story and could not put it down. I will definitely be reading more of this series and would recommend it for anyone looking for a small town cowgirl romance, with found friends/family and a little bit of spice.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is my first horses and ranch romance and, honestly, really enjoyed it!

Prove Your Worth is the perfect summer reading!

Very well written, all the characters, even the “bad ones”, felt complex and real. Now let’s get to the main ones: Eva and Gideon.

Eva is the strong lead, everything any girl aspires to be, smart, strong and independent, willing to recognize her weaknesses - and improve herself.

Now Gideon.

When we talk about book boyfriends, he is The One.
Not perfect - there is no such thing - but a good man, strong and vulnerable all at once.

And the spicy scenes - hot!

If you’re looking for an easy reading, but one so good it will stay with you, this is the one. It checks all the boxes, and will make you dream of having a Gideon of your own!

Happy readings!

I love a good cowboy, blue collar romance, especially with a strong fmc.

This book did not disappoint!

When the strong and confident big city attorney and her rich, and politician-bound boyfriend decide to diversify their investments, the race horses and horse industry in general was where they threw their money!

When Eva decides that she needs to be more involved with the horses, she meets the new farrier and he quickly gets under her collar. When a contracts is written and Eva has to spend time at the barn to prove to him that’s she actually cares about the horses, it becomes way less about the horses, and way more about Eva!!

This was all about the found family, and the listening to your heart even when you are scared that had me in a chokehold throughout this book.

The amount of times I wanted to reach through the pages and ring her boyfriend’s neck…omg!!!

But to watch Eva step into her feminine energy and show up like the bad bitch she is, heck yes girl!!! Get it!!!

ARC Review:

Sigh…why do great books have to end? I loved this book so much. I didn’t read the first one, but it is not needed. It also added to the same feeling Eva was having not understanding the inside jokes between the friend group, which I think made it even better. But I will definitely be going back to read book 1 as well.

This book is dislike-to-lovers, lots of angst and HEA. There is an on page horse death scene that made me sob (which I knew going in), and it was very well written and true to form (I’ve been around horses).

Gideon and Eva were chef’s kiss. It will be a long time before I forget this duo. I hope to see them in the next book, even if it’s just a chapter or two 😉

Highly recommend for your next summer read or even just a cozy night in on a porch swing.

Thank you to Epica Book PR and Gemma Brooks for the opportunity to be one of the first to read this book.

I really enjoyed this different take on a cowboy romance. I loved that Evangeline had no horse experience and learned from Gideon, while he was the farrier and she was the cowgirl.
This story was emotionally difficult in places and had me crying more than once.
Eva is a strong, smart, and independent FMC who spends the story working on herself and becoming a better version of who she wants to be. Gideon is strong, caring, and gives off major protective energy. I loved how his character softened the more we learned about him.
However, the real main character of this book is Angus the dog.
I did want more from the ending. I wanted to know what happened next with the horses and the ranch. It looks like I’ll have to read the next book in the series to learn more about these characters and the other personalities I met throughout this story.

Gemma Brooks is a new author for me and I can say with certainty that this will not be a one and done read. I already added book 1 to my list and will be waiting for the drop of book 3. The characters are so relatable and the settings described so well that I felt as if I was standing on the farm with Gideon and Eva watching it all unfold. The quick wit and sarcastic banter between them brought moments of humor to the story that had me laughing out loud.

I cheered for Eva with each new task she tried. The heartwarming way Gideon supported her, even when he was trying to avoid his growing feelings for her, was wonderfully written. The huge loss that Eva suffers brought tears to my eyes.

There is nothing left to prove. This author will join my list of must read authors going forward.

I received a copy of this book and I am leaving my honest review.

Who knew it would take Farrier named Gideon to get Eva to open up about actually wanting to learn what goes on with her horses? At first Eva just sees this as a business with but real hand in handling the horses. Her boyfriend just brings them in and she has others take care of them. But when she gets some really shape horses in, she calls in a farrier to take care of them. But Gideon doesn’t like what he sees in her. A big city got that knows nothing about horses or how to care for them. I fell in love with Gideon when he insisted she learn. And then to find out, she really wanted to. It was so sweet seeing her work with him and learn how to do things. Her boyfriend was a tool, so let’s get him out of pic. Because sparks start to fit between Eva and Gideon. I a fell for these two so hard. Loved this story so much.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my time reading by Gemma Brooks, and I absolutely loved this story. Plans to go back and read book one of this series, as the supporting characters were also great to read.

Gideon and Eva’s story started slow but can feel the chemistry from the beginning. I enjoyed how Evangeline grew as a person and didn’t back down, fought for herself and what she wants, as well as Gideon showing her what she is worth and worshiping her.

There were moment I was physically crying, that I did not see coming, and it made me love these characters even more in how they dealt with the events which occurred.

Enjoyed this story and definitely looking forward to more from this author and group of characters

Aladyne Stud: Gideon and Eva

It starts as enemies(ish) and a fish out of water situation.
She’s a lawyer who bought a farm with her horrible boyfriend, and he’s the farrier she hired to care for the new horses bought by the irresponsible boyfriend.
It was a relatively slow burn with a slow change in feelings, but once they fell (and she ditched the ex), strong found family vibes and a lot of personal character growth.
A few very, very, very emotional scenes, and some aspects were devastating. My heart hurt for Eva, and I’ll admit, I was cursing Gemma Brooks at that point.
What followed were a few angsty scenes, and a chance for Gideon to display his hidden good guy/sweet tendencies.

A great continuation to the series, and I’m looking forward to more.

Gideon and Eva start with a working relationship that develops into so much more. Although they have chemistry from the beginning this book is very slow burn. Eva is a lawyer who bought a farm with her complete disappointment of a boyfriend. Gideon is the terrier she hires to care for the horses she becomes responsible for. Eva ditches the boyfriend and begins to learn how to run her farm with the help of the people in the small town community. Eva embarks on a powerful journey of emotional growth and self-discovery. Gideon and Eva take a slow pace building a relationship. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, blending humor and heartbreak in all the right ways.

I am so invested in this series that I need the other books so bad. Read book two and now I'm on my way to read book one. Doing it backwards is so fun.

This book was so refreshing. College was draining my brain and this book made me realise why books will always be my number one comfort.

Eva is a character that inspires me, I see a lot of myself in her and learnt a lot through her journey in this book. Even though I was skeptical of Gideon, he pulled through. Thank God. I really love how their relationship progressed, making it feel so real. This book makes me want to get my own horses.

Thank you to the author for an Advance Review Copy!

For fans of small town ranch romance! Eva and Gideon’s story is so sweet and I love the found family element. All of the side characters play perfect roles in being match makers for this couple and helping Eva in her journey of being a farm owner. This story had me giggling at the interactions between the couples and then super emotional as the story developed. You can see how much of herself the author had put into this to make it such a beautiful read.

4.5 stars rounded up

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very light, easy read. Gideon and Eva fall for each other quickly while bonding over the horse farm she has taken over, and I enjoyed watching their relationship change.

My only real complaint was that there was a little too much insta-love and insta-lust for my taste. I would have liked to see the romance build a bit more gradually and naturally before they became so invested in each other.

Even so, I enjoyed the story overall and found it to be an entertaining read.

I LOVED Prove Your Worth! This book had me giggling, swooning, crying, laughing through the tears (both happy and sad). So many emotions were brought forward in this book. The pacing was perfect, and the characters were so relatable. They also went through significant character growth. It is the second book in an inter-connected series, and while it could be read as a standalone, I will definitely be following this series closely. I can't wait to read more.

First time read of this author for me.

Story of Eva, who was totally out of her element, hired Gideon, a farrier to care for the horses her boyfriend purchased.

Fortunately, Eva dumps the boyfriend. Eva and Gideon start out not liking each other, but they slowly bond over caring for the horses.

It's a solid, emotional read that I enjoyed.
