Expelled from Charmbridge Academy, wandless, and fated to die, Alexandra Quick is still bringing trouble wherever she goes. Before she’s done, her Solemn Quest will shake the Ozarks, her feud with old rivals and new enemies will shake New Amsterdam, and discovering the World Away will shake the Confederation.
Alexandra Quick and The World Away was truly a roller coaster! BOY - Did she go through some WILD shit. I love how Alexander owes up to her mistakes, and let me tell you, she made MANY mistakes in this one. I am thoroughly impressed with how amazing and expanding the wizarding world has been built by the author. Every series reveals a little bit more. And every time, I'm awestruck with how much planning was put into making this a successful read. I can not recommend people enough to give this series a try!
I read both this book and the sixth one together. But there are parts especially the Burton part I don't like.
But it still well written and I liked Larry's development as no longer being a full antagonist makes him interesting Brian breaks my heart but yeah his development also well done.
Overall the author has made in really clear that they want to avoid the Chosen one effect and the book feels more real.
The world Away sets up a lot of plotlines which come to fruition in the next book.
I feel so hung over. I just read these books in like 5 days. Where am I? I can’t even recognize my face in the mirror. But that was amazing. I want to dive right back in again! That was my first fan fiction ever and my last. I don’t think anything could come close. This is canon Wizarding US. Fantastic Beasts who?
You learn a lot more of how corrupt The Confederation is in this book. I do kind of wish Alexandra's Charmbridge friends made more appearances. Anyway, I really enjoyed it and I'm going to be following extensively for the next book.
I liked this book, but I only gave it 3 stars because honestly I didn't like where it took the Harry Potter universe. Take this with a grain of salt because I don't normally read fan fiction. I've enjoyed this series as a great story and I've really liked how it expanded the HP universe. I love that they go to a wizard school in the U.S., but instead of year 1- year 7, they are called 6th-12th grade. I love that instead of being sorted into houses, they stick with their year. I really love how the stories themselves don't follow the HP format each year. I liked how Alexandra used rhymes to make magic and how that's seen. The different nations are so interesting and the laws for them. A.S.P.E.W. is expanded. It gives more answers for slavery and gay rights than the original series (and Tweets from Rowling). You can see I enjoyed this. Big spoiler beneath this. . . This book explaining that children -- mostly muggles -- were sacrificed every single day for the last several hundred years in order for wizards to have magic to use here in America is. . . just too much. It's dark, and also calls into question how magic even works for Harry Potter back in England and Scotland, etc.

Loved this book!! Can't believe I finally finished it after reading chapter by chapter as it came out on fanfiction.net. If this had been any other book, I would never have waited days to a week for each chapter to release...I'm an avid binge reader when I have a book or series I enjoy. I highly anticipate the next book in this series. Also I'm interested to see what becomes of Alexandra and Larry, and most importantly the upcoming "turmoil" in the Wizard US. Maybe the Ministry of Magic will get involved?? Exciting end to this book. Well worth the waiting to read, seriously :)! Kudos to the author! Thanks!
First Read: The middle of this book was admittedly slow, but god I am just so in love with this series it isn't funny. I'm extremely sad I have to wait for the next now.
