The Price We Pay

Once again, a pretty remarkable effort with what I thought was going to be the last in the series. In fact, as I discovered at the end, it will continue and I'm going to have to wait. I still loved the world of the book, and the ongoing battle kept me reading when I really needed to sleep. The characters continue to fascinate and intrigue, though I did get lost by now with some of the lesser individuals. It's a massive cast and the peripheral people were hard to keep track of.
Don't want to give spoilers, but there were aspects of this part of the story that stretched my credulity to breaking point, and I was getting really tired of the ongoing love triangle - despite being kept on tenterhooks for the outcome, which seems as if it will never be resolved. All that aside, I'm having withdrawal symptoms because I am so involved in the Safe Haven world! Angela White's imagination knows no bounds, and I am stunned at her ability to keep coming up with new twists and turns. I'll definitely be there for Book 8 when it comes out.

The books keep holding my interest....so want to see what happens to the people of Safe Haven. Find it easy reading....books are long but storylines keep me wanting more

Is good editing a thing of the past?
I've read the first five books in Ms. Whites series in just under two weeks, so I'm obviously into the story. BUT, her editors are negligently sloppy at best, if not actively sabotaging the work. The DOZENS of glaring editing errors are like rollerskating over marbles. It makes good story telling seem childishly unprofessional. The quality, and imagination, of the story demands better.

Addictive ! ! !
I simply cannot get enough of this series of Angela White's of Life after War! I am about to start book 7 and I'm already drooling! I intend to read everything she has written! How did I ever miss her as an author after all these years?

Fight for Survival (and better editing!)
Storyline remains intense. A major battle nears. There is dissension in and out of Camp Safe Haven.

Spell/Grammer check needed desperately!
These books get irritating because of the lack of any proofreading at all. Spelling, grammar and punctuation are horrid! Spellcheck is quick and easy, people!

My guilty pleasure. I like the story and the characters. But, it really frosts my cookies that the author still, after the number of books she has written, has not brothered to proofread and correct her spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I obtained half of them for free, otherwise I would not have read past book 1.

I'm along for the whole ride.
I continue to be amazed by the great books I have found through indie (Is that the right term?) authors. This series from 'Angela White ' is filled with great characters who come to matter to you, fictitious or not, a plot that twists, turns, grows and keeps you wanting this story to go on forever! I do have a bit to pick on though, hence four stars instead of five. I do appreciate that it takes a lot of work to write these books and to self-publish., but I am a reader who also appreciates things like grammar, spelling and page numbers in the books I read. Out of curiosity and with some spare time I started highlighting mistakes and such as I read. I did this because there were enough of them that I was stumbling a bit as I was reading this book. Kind of like walking on stones instead of a smooth sidewalk, but it's a nice path so you keep walking. If the pressure and effort to get a book out means a casual slap-dash of proofing that lets so many errors slide by then another deep breath needs to be taken and a more thorough editing effort made. Now please keep in mind that I started this small effort as I began my second reading of all eight books, thus far, in this series. Obviously I think it's a really good series and I am truly enjoying the ride with Safe Haven. But there is always room for improvement and I just wanted to note an area that could use it. If there is enough for me to tsk-tsk as I am reading, perhaps there are others who do it too. Knowing that, as loyal fans we tend to clamour loudly for more of what we are hooked on, but sometimes we shouldn't be allowed what we want until it's truly ready. So I will try to clamour softly.

This last March, April 2015 I read all 7 of the Life After War books by Angela White. Thoroughly enjoyed all of them! Now in several the editing sucks in the Kindle versions anyway, but the story is powerful enough that you skip over the blimps and just keep going.
Powerful great character development, especially Angela who in the first book is a meek, scared woman who is afraid to use her powers, afraid of her ex and still in love with her child's father who in the first book they reconnect to find her son. By the last book Angela is a strong leader (even why pregnant which shouldn't matter anyway), and her partner Mark is a strong amazing partner and warrior. Angela's ex Ken goes from being an abusive goof to all women, to redeem himself to the Safe Haven group and his current partner as well as Angela.
Adrian the former leader of Safe Haven now just on the outskirts of the group, for to me a minor reason on his banishment especially when he has saved this group over and over and kept them all alive for months. I think in the next book the population will end up forgiving him on their way to their island home.
I could have easily read 2 more in this series at least and did read Angela White's books on Adrian's daughter Alexa's Travels etc. but am still waiting for the next book or 2 in this series.
I want the group to get to the coast and to the island, that in a flash forward we know they do, just not how they do.
Hurry up Angela White and finish Book 8 and on in this series!

So I THINK this is the last book in the series (for now anyway). While I have to say I enjoyed the series overall, the further along I got, the less I enjoyed it. It almost became tedious at times. It was one battle after another after another. I believe that it could have been dramatically condensed. In addition, I found the leap of faith of the sudden introduction of magic into the world to be one that was a little too great to make. It was as if during one battle, there was no magic and then poof, in the next battle, it was all magic. Ok, I know I'm exaggerating here a bit but that's how it felt. It seems like the concept of magic could have been introduced slower and sooner. I find it hard to believe that people would accept it as quickly and easily as they did.
Having said all of that, overall, I really enjoyed the series. It just went on a little too long. And I was never quite sure when one book ended and another began - that might be an issue with my e-reader though.

Sad to give it 3 stars
I truly enjoy the LAW series and my anticipation was over the moon to read this book. I checked every month for its release, so I felt a let down by it some. It doesn't compare to the other 6 books.
There are many typographical errors, misspellings and grammatical mistakes. These made it difficult to understand the passage and I often had to go back and reread to understand what was being said. There also passages were I had problems who the author was talking about or to. I felt lost at times and a few spots were slow for me, so I rushed through those.
On the positive side, I still thought it was worth the price. I was shocked and even cried when Adrian's story came out. I still would recommend it, just be aware that there are a number of mistakes that makes it difficult to read.
For now still a big fan of this series.

It was ok. To much secretiveness I know what Mark feels like always being the last to find out and having to wait and wait for the answer the book could have been much shorter if the author would just spit it all out. There's such a thing as waiting to long for a reveal and even those are unclear as to what is going on. And not sure what is the deal with the errors in grammer. Would think proof readers would get that stuff right off. Bought them on amazon so they should be good. Only reason i am finishing the series is because i bought them all ahead of time since the first book was so good.

Starting with book 5, they increase in number, variety and frequency to the great detriment of good storytelling. (But some are quite humorous, I might add.) The writer's continued preoccupation with repetitive and near cliched description of sex becomes almost as distracting as instances of poor an incomprehensible grammatical constructions. Someone paid the proofreader for nothing. I'll pass on paying for up-coming installments!

Lack of attention to detail and editing is getting annoying
I've finished seven of the Life After War series now and it seems that the attention to editing is falling rapidly. Possessive "s" when it should be plural ("Mexican's"). The word "rogue" being consistently spelled "rouge". Syntax issues, flow issues, etc. I still like the story and I'm interested in seeing where it goes but I'd much rather do it without being yanked out of the tale by some "rouge Mexican's".

Disappointed and disheartened
I was so excited to read this book but imagine my disappointment at getting this instead. Filled with typos and dropped sentences. The book seemed rushed and not well thought out. Too convoluted of a plot. I actually stopped reading it halfway through because I was so disappointed with the book. I finally finished it now and it's the first time in this series I was glad to done with a book. Angela White really dropped the ball with this one.

There were just too many grammatical and spelling errors - to the point that it was distracting as well as confusing. I like the idea of the story and some of the characters although it seemed to jump around a lot. I made it through book 7 - not sure if I'll read 8 or not.

I have never read abook with more proof reading errors. I am done with this author. She can't even keep track of her own characters and at one point has two people in two different places. The skipping and jumping around as she tries to wrap up the million loose ends just made it worse. I am sorry but I am done with this author. Can't watch the train wreck any more.

The errors in the book were very evident and numerous. The story was way to condensed for how much action it had. And was kind of confusing the way it jumped around. I had to reread several parts a few times to understand. And still think I missed some thing. But all in all Im a fan and cant wait till the next book comes out..

I just can't get enough ofyour books. Have not read one that I didn't just love. This was an amazing story. I was hooked the second I started reading. I can't get enough of marc, Adrian, and angela. Its not just them, its all the characters!! I am already looking forward to the next book! It doesn't matter which book. You are definitely my favorite author!!!

While the book was hard to put down, it was so interesting and held your attention. There were so many errors from not being edited properly. This is a very good read.
The reason for the four stars is because of words being left out or using the wrong word. At one scene. Kenn was in the camp and on the r o ad too.

Difficult to follow
I have read the entire series so far. The typos and incorrect names in the wrong places made this less of a good read. Did not particularly like the slight thrown in at the Freemasons. Deterred from the story.

I was so excited for this book and love the series, but this one was very hard to follow. First 3/4 took me forever to read because I just wasn't in to it. The last 1/4 was better but still confusing. I think I'm done with these books.

Ms. White has a new twist in each new book of the series. Simplified for my comprehension, this series boils down to who is going to be in control and then how that person (or group) is going to use that control.

As usual, Angela White brings new twists to her work. We see her powers continue to grow. We learn what causes the connection between her and Adrian and what causes the animosity between Marc and Adrian. I'm looking forward to the next story in this series.

Wow!
It's rare for a series this long to keep me interested throughout. Life After War author Angela White is able to keep the reader engaged and interested in the characters and storyline every step of the way. A great series!

This series started out with an interest plot line line but as the series progresses it has become much too predictable and like a soap opera. I am at the point that I use this ebook as background noise to fall asleep. I don't miss much as the plodding nature of the book.

It was as usual a fast read. I enjoyed it and the Life after War #8. now I wait for #9
