A Masterpiece on Trusting God's Timing and Heart

I am a HUGE fan of Toni Shiloh, and Anchor Cove is the exact reason why! Like all of her other books, this story completely swept me away, and it is a very easy five stars.
The way Toni develops her characters is unmatched. She writes them with so much depth and warmth that you can't help but root for them. By the end of the book, they feel so real that you just want to sit down at a table and have a long conversation with them over coffee.
As a single mother who also has her guard up, this story hit incredibly close to home. It gave me so much hope to believe that God will send my husband to me when I least expect it. Both of the main characters had to do the hard work of growing and letting their guards down in order to be receptive to what God was orchestrating behind the scenes.
The book beautifully highlights the necessity of waiting on God and having the courage to take the next step, even when the final destination isn't clear at all. Waiting on God is never easy, but this story is a powerful reminder that His very best is produced during those quiet waiting periods.
If you want a book that will touch your soul, build your faith, and give you a beautiful romance to cheer for, pick up Anchor Cove. Toni Shiloh has done it again!

The thing about reading any Toni Shiloh book is that it’s rooted in God’s Word and His promises to those who believe. This book delivered on that and affirmed God’s love for everyone and especially me.

The story is about Simone a single mother of a 15 yr old boy Taj. She owns several rental properties in Anchor Cove.

Derrick has retired from the Air Force after 20 years. He comes to Anchor Cove for the summer for vacation and to figure out the next stage of his life.

He interacts with Taj first realizing that Taj is looking for a male figure in his life. Then he starts to hang out with Simone and realizes that he’s developing feelings for her too.

The rest of the book is figuring out their relationship with God as the center. They get the HEA they deserve. And the book is a warm hug full of God’s grace and love.

Ahhhh my girl Toni never fails 🥹🩷 this was such a great book that showed how the waiting season can be, having to trust God and fully surrender to His timing and plan for your life. I love how real her characters always are and being able to see how they talk with God. This was just so so real and had a lot of great encouragement for anyone who may be in a waiting season, trying to figure out what’s next or where God wants you to be. It showed how we should go to Him and pray about our current situations and trust that He will always come through. Such a great book and I loved all the characters 🥰

Be Still and Know

Wow! What an expertly written book! I thoroughly enjoyed all this book had to offer! I’m not sure which character I liked the most! I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced, I saw myself! Taj, Simone, Derrick all blended well and I was rooting for forever with this family! I love the message of resting and listening and waiting on God! I love how God set this whole family in motion! I love how important the message of trusting God came through! The lessons Simone and Derrick learned about trusting God with the unknown, their future is one we all need! I’m so happy to read this book and I know it’s definitely one I will both recommend and read again!

This is the summer read that got away from me this year. I’m blaming it on my move. But I couldn’t wait a whole year before reading a new release from Toni Shiloh so I got to bask in the sunshiny summer weather in Anchor Cove on a cold and stormy autumn afternoon. Made for a lovely escape read.

Derrick is fresh out of a twenty year stint in the army and trying to figure out what’s next. I really appreciated this perspective and his honest struggle to find his footing as a civilian. Shiloh explores the difficult transition with compassion and even humour as well as a healthy dose of faith. Love the way Derrick seeks God in his plans. Also love that he spends a lot of time wrestling with God’s silence but he never gives up. And oh my, are there some inspirational gems to be found in this novel.

“He never stays silent. Sometimes His silence is a way to get our attention to make sure that when He speaks – because He will – that we’re ready to listen.” (p 58)

So Derrick moves into a a beach house right next door to Simone and her fifteen year old son and, well the sparks don’t immediately fly, but they do simmer as he gets to know his feisty neighbour. Loved the tenderness in their romance, the insecurities and wariness as well as the yearning. And the humour! Shiloh delivers a heartwarming inspirational romance that left me in a happy bibliophile swoon by the last page.

Simone is a single mother of a fifteen year old son, Taj. Kicked out by her family when she became pregnant at the age of eighteen, Simone has built a good life in the city of Anchor Cove and is the owner of ten rentals. Her rental next door is rented for the summer to Derrick, newly retired from the Air Force and intending to spend the summer discerning God's will for his next career move. Taj and Derrick make a quick connection and form a friendship but Simone has heavy guards around her heart and is not about to let a stranger in. This is a lovely story of waiting on God's plan and following His will. I liked the characters and the way we got perspectives from Simone and Derrick's points of view. I liked the story very much.

I loved the story and the setting. It has strong Christian themes and just a good romance. I love how Simone and Derrick start as friends and develop a relationship. Technically he befriends her son who gets them together I love that a teen was the push they needed. My biggest takeaway is how they prayed together and how Toni Shiloh just makes prayer a simple conversation vs. thinking you need to be on your knees or at a church to pray. Like all of Toni Shiloh books check this one is great please check it out.

Delightful Christian themes

Strong Christian themes with a sweet romance. I love that the characters sought to follow God's will for them throughout the book.

Taj was such a fun character and added a neat dynamic to this story. I loved reading this story about such a strong mother around Mother's Day. Another winner by Toni Shiloh, can't wait to revisit this book. I would rate this PG/G for kissing and talk of pregnancy before marriage.

Love & Restoration

I absolutely love how Toni captures the authentic feels of a single mother and military service member becoming a civilian. As someone who embodies both this was GOODT. Haven't read a Toni book in a LONG time. This is my first one back and I deeply enjoyed every detail of the town, the names, the ministerial themes and just how everything came together. Loved Derrick, Taj, and Simones's story

What a delightful read with faith, strong Christian themes, relatable characters, and friends-to-more. I enjoyed how Derrick befriended Simone's fifteen year old son Taj first and the banter between Simone and Taj. Anchor Cove has themes about forgiveness, learning to be still and know, and trusting God. What a fun read.

I was interested in what happened to Taj (the son of the main female character). I'd love to see a spin off book on his adventures in university.

It is so right! I can’t say anymore. It’s so relatable and fills ya up with hope. The level of connection with God is inspiring. I’m sad it’s over, but I have so much stored. Grateful read.

Simone, an admirable single mom making things work for her and her son. He is such a good kid too. Along comes a vacationer who rents the property next door while he figures out his next moves. The son with his charm, immediately wins a new friend. Over time the neighbor meets the Mom, and attraction happens but not acted upon. Both adults are very cautious for differing reasons, but the caution makes the romance a slow burn.

Waiting and Trusting

This is such a great story about learning to trust God with everything, our pain, disappointments, loneliness, joy, and especially when our path is not clear. I enjoyed Derrick and Simone’s journey, but Taj. His personality was everything. Great read.
