“Burning for You” by Kasie Haley is a heart wrenching novel about grief, guilt and
having the courage to move on after surviving tragedy.

Lainey, a 27 years old vet technician returns home after a decade away, to take care of her Grandma who is turning 85 years old. Last year, Lainey’s Grandpa passed away and someone needs to help her Grandma who is suffering from dementia.

Lainey’s family has lived in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area for generations, though Lainey moved to the Pacific Northwest to get away from all the heartbreaking memories of her childhood.

Eventually, the storyline explains why Lainey had to get away. “Burning for You” slowly unfolds the story of a traumatic event and how it impacts Lainey’s life and her small town. I think it can be challenging to live in a small town; because many residents like to hold on to their opinions, which can add an additional level of challenge when trying to move on.

Sadly, by leaving the State and moving across the country, Lainey left behind her boyfriend, Casey, who was one of her best friends.

The tragedy that drove Lainey from town immediately after high school affected so many people in the community.

This book deals with themes of trauma, PTSD, resilience, shame, responsibility and accountability.

I can’t imagine enduring the circumstances described in this emotional novel, and I am left contemplating many of the themes in this book. I highly recommend “Burning for You” and I think it would make a great Book Club selection because it would spark a lot of discussion and conversation.

Burning for You was an emotional second-chance romance that kept me invested from beginning to end.

I loved Lainey and Casey’s love story. Their relationship was years in the making—growing up together, falling in love, drifting apart, losing contact, and then unexpectedly finding themselves back in each other’s lives with nowhere left to run. Watching them navigate who they had become while realizing their feelings had never truly disappeared after ten years apart was incredibly emotional.

The yearning and tension between these two were exceptional. Every interaction carried so much history, longing, and unresolved emotion. And then… you get to that part. 👀 From that moment on, I couldn’t put the book down. If you know, you know.

Overall, I’d give Burning for You 4 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy emotional second-chance romances filled with yearning, tension, and characters who have to find their way back to each other, this one is definitely worth picking up.

This book was what I want in a book. The drama, the growth, the relationships, the suspense! It was all so good. I love the history between Lainey and Casey. I really loved getting flashbacks to them as kids and then teenagers to there current lives as adults. I ABSOLUTELY loved how you get bits and pieces of what happened to make everyone great Lainey the way they did, because I just wanted to know what happened but yet, was trying to figure out on my way based on what was said in the books.
I was beyond happy reading this! Looking forward to reading others!

What I loved about this book is how natural everything progressed. The romance wasn't rushed, it unfolded at its own pace, making every moment feel earned. The characters are flawed in the best way and watching them grow and finding comfort in each other made it incredibly satisfying.
Kaley created a romance that's equal parts tender, emotional and swoon worthy. There were moments that made me smile, moments that tugged my heart and by the end i was genuinely rooting for these characters for their HEA.
This book definitely deserves a spot on all romance lovers list.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. I loved this book. The story from the characters was just right, it took a natural progression from their feelings and situation. The FMC is carrying so much trauma from a past incident that wasn't her fault but she blames herself for it. The MMC has love and patience with the FMC and their love story is sad, hopeful, beautiful when the FMC finally allows herself to love without the shame of the past. Loved the story and finally loving each other after all theses years at least for the MMC.

I was gifted a advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review but honestly, I would happily of paid to read this! Its a very well written book, a brothers best friend trope with a twist! Loved it and I cant wait to see what Kasie writes next
