Echoed Vow

“Sex is the weapon. Love is the lock.”

Navy SEAL Theo Voss was trained to survive anything—dark water, terrorist raids, orders that don’t leave room for doubt. One covert mission off the California coast ends with him falling through a living seam and into Thalmaris, a glittering realm where emotion feeds magic. And there, people harvest, trade, and steal emotion.

Princess Maela Corvale doesn’t have the luxury of feeling. In her world, emotion is currency, power, and control—it’s Thryss. The Hollowed are hungry. They slip through dreams, feed on fear, and hollow people out from the inside. Maela has ruled with a blade in one hand and ice in her veins until Theo crashes into her life like fiery chemistry wrapped in skin.

Theo isn’t just an outsider.

He’s infinite.

Every kiss, every touch, every filthy, forbidden inch of pleasure between them creates a surge of Thryss no well can drain—power enough to turn Maela into a weapon no army can withstand. The problem? The Hollowed can scent that kind of heat from miles away. The more they use desire as ammunition, the tighter the bond locks around their hearts. Until love becomes the one thing their enemies can aim.

With two worlds cracking open and bodies piling up on both sides of the seam, Theo and Maela have one desperate shot to seal the wound: an echoed vow strong enough to hold…and intimate enough to cost them everything.

Pleasure is power, and love is the deadliest risk of all.

Woahhhhhh!!!

The magic system is unique in this. The fact that feelings are used as a source was very intriguing! Theo is cocky and I loved every minute of it! I couldn’t put this down!

Echoed Vow blends a lot of genres. It has portal magic, dark romance, high stakes, fantasy and it leans heavily on sexual chemistry. It's a weird mix, but it works.

Evil forces cause a tear between worlds, and Theo ends up in Thalmaris. Princess Maela finds him and there is instant attraction. I usually like a slow burn so sexual tension within the first 10 pages was odd. But it all made sense pretty quickly.

On Thalmaris emotion is currency, so feeling is regulated. On Earth, where Theo comes from, it's not. We human beings are pretty flamboyant with our emotions. And exactly that could save the world(s). So the attraction is very important and plays a huge part in the story. It's one of the most unique magic systems I have read about!

The above mentioned could have resulted in a smutty simple story, but it absolutely is not. There are also a lot of politics, scary monsters and war. Written really well and coming to a mindblowing, heart crushing conclusion. This book is the start of a series, but can also be read as a standalone. But if you really want to read only this one I would suggest to stop reading around 80%.. You'll know where when you get there.

**Echoed Vow | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 Stars)**

“With her hand comes the brutal understanding that some vows don’t echo gently. Some vows return with teeth.”

*Echoed Vow* brings together an interesting blend of romantasy, enemies to lovers, a love triangle, and a Navy SEAL meets fantasy princess dynamic.

While this wasn't necessarily a book that completely swept me off my feet, I can still appreciate what the story had to offer. There were elements I enjoyed, and I think the combination of romance, fantasy, and complicated relationships will really appeal to the right reader.

For me, it just didn't quite have that extra something that makes a book unforgettable. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good read, just that it wasn't entirely my kind of story.

And with an unresolved ending, there's definitely more to this story left to explore!

holy moly, this is my second portal romance story that I have read this year and it was so good!! a completely different genre than my last read and I loved every second of it!!

I throughly enjoyed the magic system in this world and how it is tied to desire, Rachel does an amazing job at colliding two different worlds together and showing how emotions feed the magic. There is a great balance between the fantasy elements paired with the romance between Theo and Meela, oh and just for fun he also has touch her and die energy🤭

since they are coming from two different worlds there is a lot of trust that is not there, I was feeling everythinggggg, I do love a cocky mmc and Theo is THAT man🤭

I also haven't read a book with a military element and I loved reading about it, after finishing this, going to Rachel's page and seeing that Navy SEALs are kinda her thing I will definitely be checking out more of her books!

that ending?! jaw on the floor I cannot wait for book two!!

Thank you for the opportunity to read Echoed Vow by Rachel Robinson. Unfortunately, this one ended up being a DNF for me at 34%.

I really wanted to connect with this story because I felt it had potential, but ultimately, a few things didn’t quite work for me. The pacing felt unnecessarily drawn out, and I struggled to connect with the characters relationship because it didn’t feel like it developed organically. Some parts moved incredibly slow, while others moved too fast that they weren’t believable. The blend of the modern and mythical worlds also didn’t fully land for me, particularly in the way Theo spoke, which made it difficult for me to feel immersed in the story.

I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this ARC, and I can absolutely see the potential in the premise. Unfortunately, the execution just wasn’t for me this time.

Cocky navy seal Theo falls into a portal while on a mission into Maela’s world.

Maela is princess of her world. She discovers Theo and their attraction is immediate and intense.

I really enjoyed the unique magic system of Maela’s world. The magic feeds on emotions making desire and pleasure a weapon.

If your looking for a fast paced chaotic spicy romantasy that has chemistry, banter, and a cliff hanger making you want more then this is the book for you.

Thank you Hambright PR for the EArc of this book

This book completely took over my life. I really couldn’t do anythingggggg until I read this, I was even reading it while cooking dinner for my family 🤣 this magic system/work was to unique and fun to read about, emotions feed magic. And that’s exactly what Theo is going to use Maela for, he’s going to turn her into a weapon.

Echoed Vow by Rachel Robinson brings together military action, a fantasy world where emotions are a source of power, and a high-heat romance with some pretty intense stakes. The concept of emotion as currency and the connection between desire and magic make for an interesting premise.
This book will likely appeal to readers who enjoy spicy romantasy, forbidden attraction, and couples whose connection could change the fate of their worlds. If you like your romance with plenty of heat, danger, and a fantasy setting that pushes the boundaries, this one may be worth adding to your TBR!

I really enjoyed the premise of this story! It was definitely unique and felt like nothing I’ve read before. I thought the writing style was great, but the intensity of the attraction between the two main characters was a bit much for me. No fault to the author at all, just not my typical vibe! The twists and cliffhanger will definitely leave you wanting to know what happens next!
