⠀ ⠀🍨 ୭ When I saw eARCs of this book being handed out- I screamed with pure excitement. It was in that moment that I knew if I didn’t get an arc of this book, I would’ve gone insane for the rest of my life- living in pure regret. So when I did get the arc of this book (It was a beautiful Saturday morning), I screamed from excitement even more. That being said, I had very high expectations of this graphic novel, and I’m kind of sad that a lot of my expectations weren’t met.

⠀ ⠀The art style looked adorable on the cover… but as you turned the pages, it was obvious that there was barely any effort put into some of the frames. I understand that trying to translate a whole novel into art is quite a chore, but I do believe more care could’ve gone into the art. Especially with how it was shorter than I expected it to be. Many scenes were cut out (which is normal for graphic novels), but most of the scenes that were cut were some of the most funniest ones, and I was so sad when I realized this! ⋆

⠀ ⠀But, I love love love watching one of my most favorite series come alive through beautiful colors! This was definitely adorable, no matter the fact that not all my expectations were met. I honestly can’t wait to see the rest of the series be adapted. ⋆

Book Riot’s Most Anticipated Books of 2026:

I recently inhaled the manga series adaptation of Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl, so when I saw that To All The Boys I've Loved Before is getting adapted into a graphic novel, my hands immediately started doing all the gimme gimme gestures. Fans will now have the original books, a great film trilogy adaptation, and soon a graphic novel adaptation. This is just all the wins for lovers of YA romance, Jenny Han, and her characters! —Jamie Canaves

There has never been a book more made for me than this one.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm extremely biased when it comes to anyhting To All The Boys related. I have been OBSESSED with this story ever since I first read it, so as soon as the graphic novel was anounced I KNEW I was going to love it. So it isn't a shock to anyone that that was exactly what happened.

IT IT SO CUTE I CAN'T. The art and the character desing is so well done! Initially I thought that it was going to be a challenge to adapt the story into this format since we already have a visual reference for the story with the movies, but one of my favorite aspects is that none of the characters felt like fanart of the actors (who I wholeheartedly adore). Tthis graphic novel has its own visual identity, its own interpretations of both Peter and Lara Jean (and the rest of the cast) so it's a delight to experiment the story in a new way.

Yes, probably my biggest qualm is that the adaptation feels a little choppy at times, but it's expected when taking a novel in prose into a more concise format as this one, so that's just splitting hairs on my part. I can't wait for it to come out to reread it endlessly.

I really hope we get the rest of the trilogy adapted into graphic novels, since it would make me the happiest boy on earth. FOREVER AND ALWAYS A TATB STAN.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of the bool!

I give this book 3.5 stars which rounds up to 4.

I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher (Simon Teen) for promotional purposes.

As a huge To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before fan (it’s one of my favorite series) and a lover of graphic novels, I knew I needed to read this one the second I heard about it.

In terms of plot, this graphic novel followed the book well. I noticed some of the lines were directly taken from the book which I liked. That being said, it was incredibly fast paced and felt much shorter than the book. The story could have been expanded more to include more scenes. Also, clear chapter breaks would have helped in slowing down the pacing.

The best part was the art style. I loved the art work. It was adorable and matched the aesthetic and vibe of the original novel.

Overall, this was a cute adaptation of the book! It wasn’t perfect but I still enjoyed it and will read future installments. If you’re a big TATBILB fan, this is a fun one to add to your collection.

This graphic novel adaptation of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before captures the heart of Jenny Han’s beloved story, but it didn’t quite hit the same emotional notes as the original novel for me.

First, the positives: the artwork is absolutely charming. The soft pastel palette—full of pinks, blues, and dreamy tones—fits Lara Jean’s personality and romantic imagination perfectly. It gives the story that cozy, whimsical feeling fans of the series will recognize right away. Visually, it’s a really cute interpretation of Lara Jean’s world.

That said, the adaptation felt a bit rushed. Because the story is condensed into graphic novel form, several moments move extremely quickly, and some scenes that felt meaningful in the original book either appear briefly or seem to disappear altogether. The chapter transitions were also abrupt, with hard cutoffs between moments that made the story feel slightly disjointed at times.

I also found some of the character introductions a little confusing. Aside from the main characters, a few people weren’t clearly identified until much later in the story, which made it harder to keep track of everyone—especially if you haven’t read the novel recently.

The ending also felt somewhat sudden. I genuinely paused to check if I had missed pages because the story wrapped up so quickly compared to what I remembered from the original.

Overall, this was still a fun and quick read, and fans of Lara Jean—or readers who love sweet YA rom-coms—will probably enjoy seeing the story reimagined in graphic form. Just be prepared for a faster-paced version of the story rather than a full recreation of the novel’s emotional depth.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was so cute! The art was perfect for the vibes and this totally captured the essence of the original book. It felt so cozy and charming. I can’t wait to continue on with the series in this format, it made for such a fun and immersive reading experience. Love LJ and Peter K so much!

the art style was so pretty and this was nostalgic because i love the original series, but this was not even close to being as good as the books. i really wanted to love it but this felt like a summary of the original books. it left out so many important details and some small details that i thought added to story and made me feel more connected to the characters. whole scenes were also left out so i felt whiplash when going between scenes sometimes because things weren’t resolved. if you’ve read the books before and you want some nostalgia these are a fun way to read the series again, but they don’t really add anything and you will be lost i think if you have never heard of these books before.

i received a digital review copy from the publisher as part of their influencer program. i am leaving this review voluntarily.

in this graphic novel adaptation of to all the boys i’ve loved before, lara jean’s love life gets complicated when all of her ex-crushes find out about her love for them at once. one of these former crushes, peter, proposes a fake dating plan to make other people jealous, which lara jean agrees to. as their “relationship” progresses, though, lara jean realizes peter might be a better guy than she initially thought.

i first fell in love with this series in junior high school, so of course i had to request the graphic novel adaptation when i saw it!! i loved the sweet moments this graphic novel brought in, such as scenes between lara jean and her sisters, the hot tub scene, etc. unfortunately, this format did make the book feel more rushed. i wish they could have split this book into two volumes or extended the length of this one to help make a more well-rounded story. still, though, this was enjoyable! i’m looking forward to the next book’s adaptation.

overall, most of the details were almost on point! i loved the visuals in general and the characters were drawn well. i didn't appreciate how kitty's swim meet was drawn, it did seem to degrade swimmers, making it look like they just kick, when in reality we don't kick at meets, we actually swim and swimming competitively is really difficult. it also felt like some of the scenes would randomly cut off and i didn't feel like i was getting the full effect of them. other than that, i thought this was a great representation of this book, even if i don't like the original book by jenny han.

FTC DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy of this book. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

I've seen this book (and the movies and the spin-off) around and knew the general plot, but I decided to give it a try in the graphic novel form.

Really cute, cozy art style! I loved the Christmas scenes especially. The only thing I found visually confusing was sometimes telling Josh and Peter apart, but other than that, the book flowed smoothly.

The story, though? Loved the sisters and how tight knit they were, but the different boys were trash or if they were nice it was the bare minimum. I didn't see the chemistry between Lara Jean and Peter either. I don't know if that was just my own sensibilities, the adaption, or the story itself.

CW: mild swearing. Mentions of sex. Emotional cheating, dubious consent kisses.

Unfortunately, most of my feedback for this book is going to be negative, but I'll start with a couple of things that I liked.

I loved seeing the love letters that get sent featured throughout the book. They each get their own page and are really cute. It was nice to have them almost as their own character.

Also, the art style is really cute throughout. It all feels very much Lara Jean with bright colors and bows and baking supplies. The art style is an extension of who she is as a character, and I loved that it's shown off in this way.

Now onto the negative...
The main thing is that Peter Kavinsky, the love interest, is not likable at all. He pitches a fit like a toddler about everything, he's not charming in any way, and he's really selfish. I know he's a teenage guy, but still. When you're the love interest, you have to have some redeeming qualities. Josh was only marginally better, but I still found myself rooting for Josh over Peter. Truly, I hoped Lara Jean wouldn't end up with either of them, but since it's a romance, I picked the lesser of the two evils.

The story is set up almost in vignettes. It felt like every 1-2 pages was a different scene. We didn't stick too long in one place or one situation. I was jolted most of the time because there wasn't a transition for 75% of them. It would just jump to the next scene and try to give a brief description about where we were and what was happening.

But the descriptions were a bit confusing because the bubbles were set up kind of odd. I'm not sure if things will be changed in the final version (as I read an advanced copy), but it was often hard to tell if the speech bubble was a thought, dialogue, or description. Sometimes they were different colors or shapes, but it didn't feel consistent enough for me to understand fully. And sometimes the assumed dialogue bubbles weren't linked to a character, so I would have to do detective work to figure out who was speaking. I read a lot of graphic novels and comics, so I know that things should be easier to navigate.

Overall, I was not a fan. Maybe if you're a diehard fan of the books, you'll like this adaptation. Otherwise, I wouldn't check this out.

Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed a gifted and advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

#1, The art style was sooooo cute 🥰

I’m really happy they got the color symbolism right, because that’s one of my favorite parts of the movie. Turquoises and pinks, plus red whenever LJ is facing something that scares her 👌👌

Lara Jean and Peter looked perfect (I love Lana and Noah but this was a lot more how I pictured them in my head), Kitty was adorable, they drew Josh as way too cute tho it made me mad 🤪

My fav panels: LJ and Peter walking through the halls (the art 🤩), Lara Jean baking (perfection 🥹), all the letters and scrapbooking (they honestly could have done more with this and it would have been so cool)

Honestly tho, they cut SO MUCH and it was highkey pmo 😡 I get that they wanted to minimize text but LJ and Peter didn’t have a single deep conversation, and that is the whole FOUNDATION of their RELATIONSHIP, which made the whole story seem so UNREALISTIC and TRIVIAL and how DARE they misrepresent my emotionally-mature cinnamon rolls 😒

All in all it’s great bonus content for any fans (still glad I bought it 😛) , I just hope no one reads it as a standalone! 🤗

i’m so beyond happy to have received an arc of this !! while i haven’t read the books yet (i know, i know), i’m constantly rewatching the movies. it’s hard to explain if you haven’t seen them, but the movies have such a bright, romantic visual feel, and i found that the artwork perfectly encapsulates that vibe. the character designs are gorgeous, especially lara jean and gen. it was really cool seeing the characters look different than the actors i’m used to.

storywise, it felt really rushed to me… while i understand graphic novels have to be extremely condensed, i think that it’s missing a lot of key information. it was definitely better that i had seen the movies beforehand, rather than going into it blind.

overall, this was an amazing, quick read !! the art was gorgeous and fit the story so so well. my only complaint is the pacing, as everything felt a little rushed and the ending abrupt. i’d recommend having at least a little bit of prior knowledge before you read for the best experience. such a great read anyway!!

Cute story that follows the book and movie pretty well! My biggest frustration was that it seemed scenes were too sped up and that the transitions were abrupt. I feel like we didn’t get enough of each character’s arc, we just got enough to know the plot

Also, in this version, Peter was not likable. By the end, I was left wondering what Lara Jean even sees in him and how she could choose him over Josh (and I’m a Team Peter girly in both the book and movie). Also, Genevieve wasn’t built out enough to garner the hatred that propels the story forward.

The design is beautiful and I liked the distinction between the white and black though bubbles. The page designs were varied, and it was easy to follow along.

Overall, this was a decent adaptation, but not my favorite!

I love the Lara Jean series and was so excited to see it get a graphic novel adaptation! I really liked the art, but unfortunately I didn't love the adaptation as much as I'd hoped. It's a pretty faithful adaptation but I felt that it was far too short-- we really didn't see Lara Jean and Peter's relationship develop the way it does in the original YA novel. Overall it's cute, but I don't really feel like this is brining anything new or special to the Lara Jean universe.

Also, there's a scene where Lara Jean and Josh are both dressed as HP characters; the original book came out in 2014 so I don't at all hold this HP reference against Jenny Han, but I wish the adaptation had swapped this out for something else.

This was sooo cute. The artwork was adorable even if the characters didn’t quite look the way I was picturing them. I mixed up Josh and Peter a couple times because of how similar they were. But it reminded me just how sweet this series is, truly one of the best YA romances out there.

Fans of both the television show and book will love To All the Boys I've Loved Before: The Graphic Novel. The illustrations and artwork were incredible and stylistically unique to the series. Thank you to Net Galley for this Advance Reader Copy!

I read the original “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Beforr” about 5 years ago and loved it! This graphic novel was just as good! The illustrations were so well done and really brought the story to life. I originally thought that I could possibly purchase this (when it releases) for the students at the middle school library I work at. But after reading it I feel like it’s better suited for high school age students due to the more mature content. It’s nothing extreme at all but I wouldn’t feel comfortable with adding it to our library.

All that to say I absolutely loved this! If you enjoyed the original novel and/or movie you’re sure to love this as well!

thank you netgalley for this arc!!

unfortunately though, this one just didn’t hit the mark for me! i absolutely love the “to all the boys” series and so i was so excited that they were coming out with a graphic novel! but this novel just felt… like a cop-out

the illustrations were so cute and i love the color schemes of each page, but that’s definitely where my enjoyment stopped. i felt like the flow of the novel was so rushed compared to the book and we didn’t really get to dive into the intricacies that make this book so memorable.

on top of that, graphic novel peter kavinsky is genuinely such a douchebag! his redeeming qualities really fall short in this book!

i just think that if you’re going into the tatbilb series, you should just read the books (or hell, even just watch the movies instead)

I received an early review copy from NetGalley but this review reflects my own true feelings about this graphic novel.

I never read the novel this graphic novel is based on but I have watched and adore the movie so I was familiar with the story going in. I really like the art style and color palate the artist chose. It visually gets an A+ from me. I do have a few critiques with the graphic novel as a whole though.

There were some parts that felt a little choppy to me such as important scenes cut off abruptly or not drawn out long enough to make them more impactful. It felt a little rushed I guess. It could have been better.

I noticed a minor spelling error as well. In the scene when Gen is telling Lara Jean about the rumor that she and Peter had s*x on the school trip, she says “on the hot tub” instead of “in the hot tub”. Maybe that was an intentional word choice but it stood out to me as an error because they were in, not on, the hot tub. Again, it’s a minor error, but I left a note on my NetGalley review about it in case they want to check that and make some edits before it’s published.

The last thing I want to share, but is perhaps the most important critique, is that I found Peter weirdly less likable in this graphic novel than I found him to be in the movie. In the graphic novel he felt more shallow and mean than he is in the movie. His character isn’t too well developed. Again, I haven’t read the novel so maybe that’s more accurate to his character in the book, and maybe the movie softened and polished his character to make him more likable. Either way I wish he was a little more endearing because it would make him and Lara Jean falling for eachother more realistic. There was some sort of disconnect for me with how the artist portrayed their relationship. I just didn’t feel the chemistry between them at all.

Overall, I didn’t hate this graphic novel but I didn’t absolutely love it either. I’m curious to read the novel now so I can revisit this graphic novel and see how it compares to that.
