Veronika Kane is the monster-loving alter-ego of USA Today Bestselling Author Caroline Lee. One of Caroline's favorite genres to read is SciFi Romance, which led her to monster romance. When she discovered it was possible to set big, buff, delicious monsters in contemporary cozy small towns, she was sold. And that's how she ended up with a new pen name and a new series.

Welcome to the town of Eastshore Isle, the only beach town on the east coast experiencing negative population growth. You know who's going to help save the town? That's right; super-sexy, laugh-out-loud orcs.

Just like Caroline's HistRomComs, except greener.

A delightful in-name-only marriage of convenience to true love and a family between a human single mom and a widowed orc whose sons are online besties.

Kesha has agreed to relocate from Texas to Eastshore Isle to marry Korrad after he generously offers to share his home and health benefits with her and her son, who befriended the hunky orc’s son online via a streaming gaming platform. While they’ve agreed to keep it a legal marriage, both Kesha and Korrad are unprepared for just how strong their attraction to each other proves to be.

There’s some lovely moments of bonding between the MCs and their boys, and some steamy goodness once the MCs decide to act upon their impulses. But Korrad already had a mate and she died; can he and Kesha have a bond anywhere close to a Mating?

I was provided an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.

My Orc Package Deal by Veronika Kane
Eastshore Isle series #16. Contemporary paranormal monster romance.
Kesha Briley and Korrad met through their children Milo and Jay who became good friends online. Kesha and Korrad began texting and soon made a practical decision to get married. She needs health insurance and a home and her son gets a father. He wants more for his son and family fits those needs.
The family is created via a marriage of convenience. No passion, just practical cohabitation.
Jay and Milo plan the wedding (which occurs in the prior book, My Orc Hookup, and overlaps in this book).
Korrad and Kesha become friends and soon take the next step into passion. He already had a mate with Jay’s mother so doesn’t expect more with this new marriage. Will friendship and parenthood be enough to keep this marriage alive or can fate create something more?

Such wonderful parents to put their children as the focus on their merger. The boys clearly care about each other, and are still treated as individuals as well as brothers. So touching.
Of course there are a few conflicts which isn’t unusual or unexpected. But this is Eastshore Isle so it’s low angst and easily resolved problems.
Plus steamy love for Kesha and Korrad.

Note: This story overlaps a bit with the prior book, but can be read as a stand-alone in that the marriage ceremony itself is in both with a different focus and viewpoint. That also makes it readable in this book since it’s a different POV. When the wedding is discussed and that the kids make the arrangements, I thought “wait, haven’t I read this already?” And yes, but it’s only a short overlap.

Made family. Romance. Sexy times. Laughter.
A perfect afternoon escape into love.

I received an early copy to read. I’ve purchased multiple formats to keep and share.

This story is dual POV, fantastically written and well edited, and a sweet and steamy, dual single parents, marriage of convenience to fated mates, contemporary fantasy romance between Kesha, the female human editor/writer lead and single mum to Milo, a neurodiverse boy, and Korrad, the male orc construction lead and single dad to Jay, a male orc whose mother died years ago. I enjoyed Kesha’s willingness to take chances and literally move across the country. I enjoyed Korrad’s openness to building a new family for his son. I adored the relationships both lead characters developed with their stepson and the contrast between the two boys who were thrilled to be brothers. I appreciated the gentle handling of Milo’s neurodiversity. I enjoyed the shock Kesha and Korrad felt at the intensifying feelings between them. I adored the banter between the characters, including during the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the joy Korrad took in Kesha’s pleasure. I empathised with Kesha’s need to feel that she was contributing equally to the relationship and appreciated the effort Korrad made to explain that accounting in relationships wasn’t necessary. I adored the shared joy of realising the depth of emotions between them and the steamy happiness at the end. I enjoyed the set up for the next story and an eagerly anticipating the male lead’s grumpiness.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

This is a fun orc small-town romance. It is the 16th book in the Eastshore Isle series of interconnected standalones. It also connects Kane’s contributions to the multi-author Orc Hockey League series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Human FMC Kesha is a single mom struggling to make ends meet and take care of her son Milo, who needs extra support. Milo has made friends through online gaming with Jay and his orc dad, MMC Korrad. When Korrad proposes a marriage of convenience to Kesha, she jumps at the idea and moves to Eastshore Isle.

I really enjoyed this book. As a mom of two kids with autism, I liked how Milo was portrayed as needing more support while still being a loving and capable little boy. (Although Milo doesn't have a specific diagnosis in the book, my brain assumed autism.) The MCs’ relationship was sweet, going from strangers to friends to more than friends, all while being married, which made for a fun read. There were quite a few side plots, some involving the lighthouse, which was also heavily involved in book 15, and those MCs appear as side characters in this one as well.

Overall, this was a really fun addition to the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the holiday installment, My Orc Grinch, which was teased at the end of this book.

Spice 4/5
Plot: 4.5/5
Writing: 4.5/5
My Enjoyment: 4.5/5

I loved that this book started at a big moment from the previous book, at Kesha and Korrad’s wedding. We already knew they were getting married out of convenience, and in this story we learn why, and the reasons are heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Kesha and Korrad decide marriage to each other is the best thing for their respective sons, who have become best friends through online gaming, and who each struggle in their own different way. Both Kesha and Korrad have secrets about their past that eventually come out, and thankfully they’re able to become stronger together and eventually admit their love for one another. These secrets have shaped who they’ve become and how they’ve acted at times as adults, and it was so satisfying to see these characters handle their issues responsibly, respectfully, and supportively with each other and their family. The slow burn made sense for these characters and discovering that they were Mates was the best!

I also enjoyed how this book has some elements of the ice hockey and tie-ins to the Orcs still in Colorado, and I’m hopeful the author won’t leave us hanging when it comes to those guys!

SFCP (safe for childless people) as long as older children are okay; main characters do not become pregnant/have a baby.

I received an early version and voluntarily leave this review.

Kesha met Korrad through her son as he had met his best friend by playing online games. Korrad's son has really become really close to Kesha's son, and that started them chatting. Its not to long that they make a deal that they have a marriage of convenience. It means that they each get the support that they need in raising their sons. I cannot express how much I loved this book!!! I am still feeling like I have a book hangover. This book was so well-written, and the way the author wrote this story keeps you hooked from the very beginning. You can't help but absolutely love Korrad and Kesha as they navigate this whole new relationship. While trying to make sure that their sons are adjusting well to all the changes. The chemistry between these two is so hot but I love how this author writes that they gradually come together after getting to know one another slowly. I love how this whole story came together, and the whole Orc community support them. There is nothing better than a sweet love story that keeps your attention from the very first page and you cannot put it down. This author is the best!!! I am so glad I have discovered her and got hooked on her writing. She has fast become my favourite author and she does not disappoint!!! This is a must read!!!

Milo and Jay find each other playing a game on line. Their parents, Kesha and Korrad, want the boys to meet, as they get along so well. While talking with Kesha, Korrad realizes that they could marry and it would be the perfect solution. Kesha and Milo would get a better place and security. He would get a mother for Jay. Win-win situation. A “business” deal. Nothing else. Except when they meet in person (just before they get married) they each find the other very attractive. Neither is willing to cross the line into the romance zone. They do things as a family. Kesha and Korrad continue to get closer. HEA. This is book #16 in the series but can be a stand alone without the reader being lost. I received this book free from the author (I’ve also bought her books I didn’t get free I like them so much!)

I know I say this about every one of these orcs when Veronika writes a new book, but Korrad 🥵 He might be my new book boyfriend orc. He is sweet, protective, patient, and dominant (which was a surprise).

This is a cute book with a marriage of convenience (yaaaassss), neurospicy son (Veronika doesn’t mention what the son has but he is neurodivergent), a found family, and true mates. 😍 This book hits all the spots. It’s filthy, it’s sweet, it made me tear up, it made me laugh, and it made me swoon. As always, it’s low angst and perfect weekend read. Veronika always delivers and this book will def be in my book reread rotation!

Beautifully Written!

This story was beautiful. I will forever keep this as one of my personal favorites. I love the way it was written. The female character was strong and confident with insecurities if that makes sense. This book was about the love of a family, and I am here for it. The male character was strong and a proper backbone of his family. I have an autistic niece and this story hit all my heart strings. I loved how he spoke to the meltdown instead of cowering away or allow people to make you embarrassed. They do not like their scheduled changed and become overwhelmed. I will read it again very soon.

The Eastshore Isle series just keeps getting better!

Korrad and Kesha's marriage was supposed to be a practical arrangement, but of course it doesn't stay that way for long. I loved how great they were as a family even before the romance gets steamy. The brotherly bond between Milo and Jay feels genuine and the way the story (and Korrad) handles Milo's need for extra support was so sweet and tender. I enjoyed watching Kesha and Korrad go from strangers to co-parents to a real connection. Their story is low-angst and filled with warmth, humor, found-family, and spicy chemistry once Kesha and Korrad stop pretending to be just roommates. Such a lovely (and steamy) addition to the series!

I waited for this book

And omg was I SO NOT DISAPPOINTED. This was one of the best she's written in this series yet. I love the found blended family, a second chance for Matehood and neurodivergence shown lovingly. And always happy to see interracial relationships. This was BEAUTIFUL. And I loved seeing some of my favorites from past books in the background. What wonderful worlds she's written in this contemporary series and in her fantasy orc series. One of my favorite writers.

This is the first in the series that I'll tell you to go read the one before this one first. Yes, it's an interconnected stand alone, and no, you don't have to, but it's worth it. The whole series is worth the read, but I digress.

She's a single mom of a little boy who has some special needs. He's a hardworking single dad who lost his mate.

The boys play together online and get along so well that he gives her an offer she can't refuse. A brother for her son, and a one way ticket off the struggle bus. Total second chance HEA that is scorching and beautiful.

When Wrong Reasons Become Right!
I just finished reading an early copy of this this beautiful love story, so here is my voluntary review:
Do they make Korrads in real life? I wish!
This story's contents quickly became my dream of a perfect life. It has all the right feels for me - it is funny, loving, has heat, family closeness and so much more.
The best was the wonderful relationships building between Korrad and Kesha and their two sons. That was the cherry on the top!

My Orc Package Deal
By Veronika Kane

And back on Eastshore, Korrad and Kesha are making sparks fly. They’ve married to make their sons’, who are already best friends, into the brothers they both desperately need. So Korrad and Kesha build a solid, loving family unit. And as the family grows stronger, Korrad and Kesha, with a little help from their sons, discover they are Mated. Another wonderful Eastshore love story. I recommend it. Thanks again, Veronika.

This is an excellent example of a strangers to friends to lovers story. Kesha and Korrad marry for their sons but soon discover how compatible they are together and begin to build a true friendship and more together. This book is well written. I loved watching the two of them develop a read bond through the story. If you love a slow burn, low angst, high heat, and a good plot, then this book is for you!

I love this series! We've got another great read from the author. The MMC is honestly amazing. I was a bit confused at first about how the FMC kept score, but everything made sense in the end. Love really changes everything. It was so sweet to see how they fell for each other, chose each other, and realized they're mates. Such a beautiful journey!

Sweet, cozy addition to this series. I enjoyed the coming together of a family in this story, the weaving of relationships between the whole family, not just the h&h. Was it a little simplistic and a little predictable, yeah. But it was enjoyable.

Loved it

The story was tender and beautiful and full of hope: hope of a happy family, hope on two people doing the best for each other and their children. It might be in the Eastshore Island universe, but it felt very real.

A Found Family

I enjoyed visiting "Eastshore Isle" again. Loved the plotline in this and the resulting found family that resulted. Also liked that they were "mates". It's true that lightening strikes twice!

Good read 🏒

Kesha and Korrad have decided to marry to give a home to each of their boys. Kesha's son has a disability that is handled very well in this book. Korrad's son is equally as interesting. Great read! Enjoy
