It’s time for Alex to become the hunter she is meant to be.
Alex, the Shadowstalker, has learned to survive by two don’t abandon those in your pack, and make sure to keep well fed. The hard-won victory of removing the Forgers from Kabi’s world is cut short by the journey through the remains of villages to the south.
They work together to reconnect lost villages, salvage Forger tech and teach broken warriors to fight, while journeying to Kabi’s home. Every new skill costs something, and every ally she frees makes her a brighter beacon to enemies she doesn’t even know she has.
By the time she climbs out of a dungeon dive, Alex must decide which she will protect first, her friends on Kabi’s world, or the universe-sized promise that a repaired portal would bring. The system rewards those who endure; but survival asks for a price. How far is Alex willing to go?

Another banger. Alex and Lenna are fast becoming some of my fave characters.
Only issue I have this edition is the distinct lack of Lenna as her and Alex bounce so well off each other. Also I truly hope there is no romance being hinted at here between Lenna and Asceto. Ugh
We see a metric butt ton of growth here for Alex as well as starting to see a clearer picture of what nonsense she is being set up to fix.
The final line had me cackling. Sure bro, thats really gonna turn out the way you think 😂
Lenna's final line was unacceptable and I'm going to be losing my ish until the next book turns up. How very dare!
I do love this series, I just tear through every single book.
It seems to me the other characters are underutilized. It gets boring with Alex trying to level up. Basically, to much leveling up and not enough character interaction.
