Rate this book
Learn How to Get in Shape With a Powerful Daily Workout Routine You know you need to exercise, but most workout programs take too much time, seem too extreme (P90X, Insanity, etc.), or they put you in the middle of the "meat market" scene at most gyms. There has to be an easier way.

To experience the health benefits exercise has to offer, all you need to do is set a simple goal to "Exercise Every Day" in a way that fits your already busy schedule.

The Real Struggle is Specific Workout Obstacles

Most people have the desire and capacity to exercise, but they let obstacles stop them from ever getting started. Sleepiness keeps you from getting to early morning "boot camp" classes or a small apartment keeps you from making room for weights and equipment. Real-life obstacles like these can prevent you from exercising at home or the gym.

S.J. Scott's new book Exercise Every Day helps you identify the obstacles that continually get in your way. By reviewing each obstacle and identifying specific solutions, this book will help you experience a personal breakthrough.

Exercise Every Day - 32 Tactics for Building the Exercise Habit

This book includes sections

How to determine what workout routine is right for your lifeWhy micro-commitments keep you from ever missing another daily workoutHow technology incentivizes you to track your daily exerciseA guide to finding the right gym or home workout routineHow to maximize your small pockets of timeWhat to do to make working out fun…even if you normally hate itA step-by-step blueprint to identify and overcome workout obstaclesAnd much, much more!

Wall Street Journal bestselling author SJ Scott wanted to be Luke Skywalker when he grew up.

Unfortunately his complete lack of physical grace and introverted mannerism's kept the earth from having their own Jedi Knight to battle the Sith menace.

Steve “SJ” Scott was born and raised in New Jersey. After finishing college with a degree in psychology he knew he needed to further his education or work on his latte making skills.

During a short stint in US Air Force, Scott was able to get his Master’s in business and then moved on to conquer the business world.

Scott then spent a couple of years working for a company not unlike the company depicted in Mike Judge’s film, “Office Space”. After doing his share of “TPS” reports, Scott swore he would never work for anyone but himself.

He spent the next few years making this happen. Making a decent living online and eventually pivoting to writing books, blogging and even podcasting.

Scott has written over 30 books, most of them in the "self-improvement" genre. An area that he is personally passionate about.

His books have been published in 12 different languages. So he is well on his way to world domination. However, in his heart of hearts he knows he will soon have to venture out into the universe and defeat the Sith menace.

Just finished the audible book “EXERCISE EVERY DAY: 32 TACTICS FOR BUILDING THE EXERCISE HABIT...” written by S.J. SCOTT and narrated by GREG ZARCONE. Wish you had time to exercise? Turned off by the "meat market" scene at most gyms? Or are you simply unsure about how to get started with a daily workout? The good news is that you don't have to follow extreme exercise programs like Insanity and P90X or spend every free moment in the gym to experience the health benefits exercise has to offer. All you need to do is make a simple goal to exercise every day in a way that fits your already busy schedule. The truth? You struggle with exercising because of specific workout obstacles. Here's the thing: Most people have both the desire and capacity to exercise, but they never get started because they allow obstacles to get in their way. For instance you might feel exhausted when your alarm clock goes off two hours earlier than usual in the morning, so you can't bring yourself to make it to boot camp class. Or perhaps you don't have space in your house for lots of weights and equipment. These are real-life obstacles, and it's likely that issues such as these have prevented you from engaging in regular exercise. In this book you will have the opportunity to identify those obstacles that seem to continually get in your way. Then you will learn how to review each obstacle and identify the specific solutions to experience a personal breakthrough. This book is just what I was needing. I am trying to get back on my Peloton riding program after being off with tendinitis for 3 months. I loved all of his strategies for building the habit of exercising every day with no excuses. I am inspired!

HIGHLIGHTS:
1. EXCUSES:
- The difference that spurs them into action is having an established habit that pushes them beyond excuses.

2. PLAN FOR IF-THEN:
- The trick is to learn how to not only respond to unexpected events, but also prevent many of them from happening in the first place.
- That initial resolve disappears when people don’t account for the rough patches that frequently occur.

3. SMALL DOSES:
- It’s easier to do something when it’s a micro-commitment.
- Any type of consistent, active movement is exercise.
- When you re-start an exercise routine, do the bare minimum. It’s almost like you’re starting over; focus on the small wins and build from there.

4. VARIETY => WEIGHT LOSS
- If weight loss is your goal, vary your routine so you incorporate both aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
- Unless you want exercise to be the dominant focus of your life, the best strategy for overcoming plateaus is to mix up your daily routine.
- A body that is constantly challenged will produce better results.

5. EVERYDAY LEADS TO RESULTS:
- If you continue to work out daily and keep your nutrition in check, the results will come in time.

6. IDENTITY —> HABITS:
- you need to believe the habit is part of what makes YOU a unique person.
- It’s better to decide that the habit is simply part of your identity and then use each “small win” as a way to demonstrate that it’s who you are on the inside.

This book got me to commit to exercise

I have been struggling with my weight and beating myself up for years for being so inactive and not having the willpower to start and stick to exercising. I would always do it for a couple of days and then stop.

But with this book I was able to learn the secret to making exercise a daily habit. And I can’t believe it but it is working. I made my first commitment to doing a small goal of 15 mins for 30 days and I feel very confident that I will reach that goal.

I never expected this book to be so fundamental to changing my perspective on exercise and finally getting me started. Thanks so much for changing my life!

This was a short and sweet self help book full of great tips for setting up and maintaining a daily exercise habit. I knew a lot of what was in this already, but still found it useful and inspiring. I can't wait to apply some of these ideas. I also love the main idea of setting up a small goal so that you can be consistent (over setting up a huge goal you'll eventually stop doing or you'll do one day but then skip two).

I borrowed this on prime reading several months ago. It's it longer than I expected but well laid out and definitely addresses many of my excuses. The author provides specific instructions on how to overcome those excuses and issues. I would like to find a used paper copy that I can mark up and have handy (literally), for a inexpensive price.

I read this book to see if I’d recommend it to patients and I totally would! Some of the info I would not agree with - e.g. only a specialist physician can really diagnose your health problems, and it’s ok for a doctor to not listen to patients for all that long, but the info on how to make daily exercise a habit was interesting and gave some really practical tips.

An older title of his but given we are all in lock down and I GREATLY miss the six classes a week I did at my local gym I went looking in my kindle for exercise books, and voila!
As with all Steve’s books, it’s short, it’s informational, it’s clearly written with links to everything he cites or mentions.

It's a pretty good book enabling users to avoid excuse and exercise in any form they are comfortable with. So he has mentioned excuses as well as ways to avoid and also a overview of many forms of exercises that one can include in their daily routine to have some kind of movement in their life.

It was a quick read full of practical tips to help develop exercise habits.....I chose it because I'm pushing 40, two kids, husband, pets, home and my dad's caregiver.

Very informative on ways to create exercise habits, lots of strategies to stay on track and overcome obstacles. I make same resolution every year it sticks maybe till February, then feel overwhelmed and let everyone else's needs consume my attention. This year for Christmas I got new Nikes, work out clothing and I'm committed to being a better me....this book did an excellent job of showing me how to accomplish this with out feeling overwhelmed. Bring it 2016

Another excellent book by the always enjoyable Steve Scott.

Well written and with some great tips.

To be completely transparent, someone who lives in a gym and understands every aspect of fitness is not likely to get anything new from this book, except a well written reminder of all the good tips they already know.

For anyone who is getting started with fitness (or getting started AGAIN, you will surely find some great actionable tips, as well as some great ideas for improving your daily fitness routine

I found this book to be a quick read with a lot of very practical, down to earth information. Whether you are a beginner or already exercising frequently, you will find something in this book that is helpful. I have been working with a personal trainer twice a week for several years, and I read a lot about fitness, yet I found quite a bit of new information that will help me in my future endeavors. It was well worth reading.

This is a solid book that reveals the obstacles confronting the development of an exercise habit, but then offers some concrete strategies to overcome these issues.

Importantly, there is attention to digital fitness, showing the strength of innovative applications and YouTube for ensuring 'habit breaking' and 'habit forming' exercise possibilities.

Strong book. Clear outcomes. Recommended.

Good habits for beginning

I would recommend this to anyone who has not built a habit or found a good reason to exercise. I thought it would contain more on habits to build when you were not running or at the gym. Instead, it fought off every excuse one could have against exercising.

Like most of Steve Scott's books, it's a good solid starting point, but if you've already done some work toward the goal he's addressing in a given book you will likely have hit upon his recommendations already.

Lots of great ideas on how to build and sustain an exercise habit. This book should be read on paper and not listened to on audible, or at least not without a paper companion. There are too many great details to keep track of.
