The first chapter of the book was dull. I didn't really mind Yabut's humble history because it was essential to get to know him in order to understand how he's a significant icon. I actually enjoyed reading about his life—family, education, work, etc.. But what I didn't like was the way he talked on and on and on about how he won The Apprentice Asia. Sure, his advice was great but some of them wouldn't necessarily apply to everyone. It would've been better if he gave more generic insights for anyone who wants to win or excel at something (not just a reality game show).

It was refreshing when he talked about his co-candidates, reading from what could've been their perspective. I did also appreciate how he talked about getting from point A to B, though. That was fun.

The next chapter of the book—until the end, actually—was very inspiring. Yabut really knows his way around the corporate world. He talks about leadership and what to expect as young professionals. He also keeps a very open mind about career choices and encourages his readers to branch out. It doesn't matter if you graduated with X degree but wanted to pursue a Y job. There are also important quotes and amazing tips about travel incorporated into this book.

He never fails to emphasize the importance of grit in order to achieve what you want. I do recommend this to college students or anyone who's just starting out with their careers and is hungry for success.

I read one of Jonathan's article in Rappler, and immediately googled him after. Being a corporate slave, I got hooked at how he see things differently. And so, as soon as I discovered that he will be having his first book, which I can get an advanced (and signed) copy online, I purchased two. One for me, and one for my older brother.

His words are very relatable, and empowering. Not only because he radiates positivity, and passion at what he does, but also because he constantly mentions that if you're working with a team, especially if you're the leader, you sometimes have to step back and make others shine.

I also loved how he shares even the simplest things we tend to overlook. For one, he shares his thoughts on how we can maximize time. And that it won't hurt if we get the free toiletries from the hotel we're staying in to donate to charities.

This book pens good notes for yuppies .

Always admired Mr Yabut and the Apprentice show. I remebered watching the 1st live episode in AXN while at the hospital back when I was still in University.

Until now I aspire that feeling in the boardroom and learn with the team.

Downloaded podcasts on Freakonomics radio. Thanks!

It's a concise book for easy reading. I've read most of the advises from other self-help, leadership or motivational books. Probably because life is simple. There are few rules in life we need to follow.

Just finished reading his 4th book, "Everything Will Be Alright" and i kinda regretted that I only discovered this guy in 2023. Apparently, he has authored 3 other books before (I discovered Mr. Yabut through TikTok and FB Reels).

I'm halfway through Jonathan's first book and just like his 4th book, Jon has been making me nod with all his experiences as a millennial. This book focuses more on what happened in his journey when he joined The Apprentice Asia (the same TV show hosted by Donald Trump, only this time, the show was hosted by Tony Fernandes of AirAsia). He shares a lot of behind-the-scenes contemplation about why he joined the show, his secrets for winning the show, and lessons on leadership and success. Considering this book was published in 2014, I am surprised that many of what he shares remain to be relevant for aspiring corporate Gen Z and Gen Y! Albeit, I must say that his tone of writing is so soooo different from his 4th book (perhaps it's because he was very young at this time). I am already in my 40's so I have a different reception to his writing. This is a bit of an angsty version of Mr. Yabut haha.

Definitely recommend to read if you need to be inspired in a middle of a corporate or life struggle. This man easily connects with his audience through his words! This is me recommending when I still have about 30 pages to finish!

I was babysitting my nephews for an hour or two when I started and finished this book.

Inspiring read.

In one of my professional development (strength) test, being ambitious is my lowest. I think I got so comfortable back then. Now, I am trying to get out of my comfort zone but taking calculated risks.

I was fortunate to have attended one of Jonathan’s talk. Everyone has that motivation and passion. His life story so far and his ‘grit’ makes his audience realize that they can still make it.

Easy to read and great book!

I've known about this book but not until I was sent a complimentary copy that I finally got to read it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. So much so that I finished it in one sitting! His writing is so RAW and GOOD that reading about how he won in The Apprentice Asia made me tear up. I also like that he has a lot of useful hacks for traveling, for being a corporate warrior, and for just loving your job. Good read! Really!

I really do watch the Apprentice Asia before I read this book just for me to know what he's talking about. The series was really entertaining and nerve-wracking and the book is also great. I love the way how he lives his life. I love all his tips and discussions when it comes to career, trips, book reco, movie reco, and of course "grit". This book inspired me to apply for a private position and find out what I'm good at. Thanks Sir Jonathan!
