Mirror Lake #1
Knot A Chance
Bennett Winchester is perfectly content with his life in Mirror Lake. He owns his own garage where he works as a mechanic, has two sisters and good friends to spend his time with, and he doesn’t mind not being in a relationship—until Felix Kipling arrives in town and starts working at the bar owned by Bennett’s sister. The second Bennett lays eyes on Felix, his alpha instincts make it clear he’s looking at his true mate, and he’ll do anything to be with him.
Felix has a past that makes him wary of a potential relationship, but Bennett isn’t easily deterred and he’s willing to take everything at Felix’s pace, no matter how long he has to wait to claim Felix as his omega. The two quickly realize that what they have is so much more than a casual fling, but it may not matter when an accident puts Felix in a coma.
Dealing with his confusion about the cause of the accident, suspicion of everyone around him, and the return of Felix’s mate, Bennett is faced with an impossible does he bond the man he loves to him without his explicit consent, or allow Felix’s ex to be involved in decisions that directly impact Felix’s health?
As the sheriff of Mirror Lake, Bennett’s best friend, starts to piece together the makings of a larger criminal organization, Bennett’s concern that Felix’s ex had something to do with the accident only grows. But there is nothing Bennett won’t do for his omega, even if it means risking everything to protect him.

‼️SPOILERS‼️
If you don’t know, I’m such a fan of omegaverse and when I saw Dani was doing a whole new series, I was here for it. I just knew without a doubt that I was going to want more.
From the moment that Bennett that laid his eyes on Felix, I was completely captured by these two. They were so cute and they were completely taken by each other.
I loved the spice so much. I’m not much a fan of watersports but only two authors did it so well where I wasn’t turned off by it and Dani is one of those authors.
I loved the back and forth because it usually something jot a fan of but my god, the build up to how the book starts makes me eager for more and more of this plot.
Ryder can kiss it where the sun don’t shine. And Vargkunk - oh man, I have a theory I might know who it is, but I can’t wait until he comes forth with his identity.
And ugh, Benny. When Bennett alpha barked the puppy and Felix threatened him, I laughed.
The bonding part, though. And when Felix wakes up - my heart swooned!
This book does end in a HEA for the couple but the plot thickens and continues to the next book. If you’re looking for a different take on omegaverse, a little bit of mystery and suspense, and just the best characters, this book is for you!
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

A dark and dangerous world, but everything between the couple is ooey-gooey softness? Yep, this is exactly my type of book!
When Felix Kipling arrives in town and begins working at the local bar, Bennett Winchester knows that this omega is his true mate. But Felix is wary due to his past, and like any good alpha, Bennett is content to do everything at his omega’s pace.
After an accident puts Felix in a coma, everyone in Mirror Lake begins to realize that there is something much larger and more dangerous at play than they could have ever imagined. While the sheriff works to piece together the accident, Bennett is faced with an impossible choice: does he bond the man he loves to him without his explicit consent, or allow Felix’s ex to be involved in decisions that directly impact Felix’s health?
Knot A Chance is a dual POV story told on a dual timeline, with the current timeline in Bennett’s POV and the start of their relationship a few months prior in Felix’s. I really liked the dual-timeline structure and thought it worked well to help the reader understand Bennett’s choice.
Felix and Bennett were a great couple, and it was fantastic to see true mates have time to fall in love. Bennett was a total simp for Felix, which, let’s be honest, is the best type of alpha. He’s head over heels the moment he walks into the bar, and his priorities are whatever Felix needs.
I am also super curious about the larger background story and am excited to see how it plays out over the next two books. I’m also curious if I still hate Donovan (the sheriff’s deputy) by the end of this series.
Finally, I really appreciate that Dani Grimes gave us an intro on her version of the omegaverse at the start of the book. Every author shapes their own world, and I found it very helpful to have the “rules” before I jumped in.

“I’ve never wanted to feed anyone before this morning… I take that back. There was one day, two weeks ago, when I could tell you were hungry at the bar and I very much wanted to feed you, but I suspected you’d give me shit for it. I asked Milo to make an extra burger and tell you that he made the wrong order, so you’d eat it. Which you did. It was very satisfying.”

"I love you so much, Bennett. Thank you for finding me." - Felix
"You always have a choice with me, Felix. Always." - Bennett
Felix is still bonded with his ex, Ryder, at the start. In this world, a true bond can override another bond. Bennett is his true love, the love of his life, his Alpha. Bennett felt a true bond/true mate, and Felix just had a hard time with knowing what's normal and what's more than that. He didn't want to say anything because he wanted Felix to have that choice; he wanted Felix to say it first. Felix has been through a lot in the past, and with Ryder, but he still gave Bennett a chance. There are dark things going on in Mirror Lake, and it's a mystery. Felix is a v!ctim of that. There's also another POV, which gives a more inside view of what's happening. Everyone in this world is bi, they can live a fulfilling life with their partner even if it's not their true mate. I love that Bennett and Felix took their time first, and that there was a lot of time with friends and family; they all sound so interesting.
Bennett's POV is mostly in the present, and Felix's POV is from the past, the start of their relationship all the way to what happened to him. Bennett cares a lot about consent, and he was struggling with making a big choice for Felix that could save his life. Felix and Bennett also discover an accidental new K!nk
There are a lot of bad people in this small town, in the shadows, all people who live a “normal” life under a different name.
I can't wait to read more of that, and I love that the plot continues throughout the whole series. I love that every author writes the omegaverse differently, and I especially love that they can choose to be with someone without it having to be an omega + alpha or a true mate.
I received an ARC copy of this book.

Knot a Chance is an emotional, suspenseful, and incredibly sweet omegaverse romance that completely pulled me into the world of Mirror Lake. As the first book in the series, Dani Grimes introduces a wonderful group of characters, a close-knit small town, an intriguing mystery, and a protective alpha who knows exactly who his omega is from the moment they meet.
Bennett Winchester is happy with the life he has built in Mirror Lake. He owns his own garage, is close to his sisters, and has a loyal group of friends around him. He has never felt as though he was missing anything until Felix Kipling arrives in town and begins working at his sister’s bar. The moment Bennett sees Felix, his instincts immediately recognise him as his true mate.
I absolutely adored Bennett. He is protective, patient, thoughtful, and completely devoted to Felix without ever trying to rush him. Even though his alpha instincts are screaming at him to claim his omega, Bennett understands that Felix has been hurt before and needs time to feel safe. Watching him prove through his actions that Felix could trust him was one of my favourite parts of the story.
Felix is guarded and wary of relationships because of everything he has experienced in the past. He wants Bennett, but allowing himself to believe that their connection could be real is much harder. I loved seeing Felix slowly lower his walls and begin to accept the care, affection, and security Bennett offered him. Their relationship develops with so much tenderness, patience, and emotional connection, while still delivering plenty of chemistry.
The accident completely changes the tone of the story and adds an emotional intensity that had me desperate to know what would happen. With Felix in a coma, Bennett is forced to make impossible decisions while dealing with suspicion, fear, and the unexpected return of Felix’s former mate. His desperation to protect Felix was heartbreaking, especially when he was faced with choices that challenged both his instincts and his respect for Felix’s consent.
The mystery surrounding Felix’s accident added an addictive suspense element to the romance. As Bennett and his best friend, the sheriff of Mirror Lake, begin questioning what really happened; it becomes clear that something much larger and more dangerous may be unfolding in the town. The secrets, suspicious behaviour, and hints of a criminal organisation kept me completely invested and made me excited to see where the series goes next.
Bennett and Felix’s story is filled with true mate chemistry, emotional vulnerability, protective instincts, found family, danger, and plenty of heartfelt moments. Bennett is the kind of alpha who will do absolutely anything for the man he loves, while Felix is a strong and lovable omega who deserves every bit of safety and happiness he finds.
Knot a Chance is a beautiful and emotional beginning to the Mirror Lake series. I loved the romance, the characters, the close-knit community, and the suspense woven throughout the story. Bennett and Felix completely captured my heart, and I cannot wait to return to Mirror Lake.

Talk about love at first sight done right! The Mirror Lake series, by Dani Grimes, has been on my radar since it was announced. I have been so excited for this shifter series featuring 3 books. Book 1 is Knot a Chance and our two MCs are amazing. From the first time they meet, one is head over heels and knows this is the person for him. While it may have taken our other MC a little bit more time to realize how he feels, it adds to the journey and makes the yearning so worth the read.
Bennet and Felix are so hot from the get go. The minute that Bennet sees Felix he feels a pull towards him like nothing he’s ever felt before. It doesn’t take him long to realize that Felix is not just another omega, Felix is Bennet’s omega. While Felix isn’t as quick to feel their connection, once he realizes it, he doesn’t hold anything back from Bennet. Yet, their relationship, while hot and heavy, comes with its own challenges. These two will do anything for the other to ensure nothing tears them apart.
When an accident puts Felix’s life in danger, Bennet is beside himself trying to be calm, but also needs to find the person responsible for putting his heart in danger. Bennet may be an alpha for his pack, but when it comes to Felix his softer side comes out. Felix has gone through a lot in his past, but Bennet allows him to let his walls down without fear of being hurt. This story has everything I have come to love from Dani with an added element of suspense that will weave through the whole series.
While each story will focus on one specific couple, the same characters will be seen throughout the series; both good and bad. This book definitely sets the tone for what to expect in the upcoming books and I am so excited. Dani has put so many layers into this story and slowly pulls them back as the story progresses. Yet, she leaves plenty to be revealed with the next 2 books. I highly recommend reading this and any book by Dani!
As always, review any author notes before reading.

Whoa. This book surprised the heck out of me. This is my first time reading Dani Grimes and I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that this was dark omegaverse and that was good enough for me 😅
This wasn’t the kind of omegaverse I’m used to reading and I think that’s what I loved most about it. It’s a fresh take on the genre and it had me hooked from the prologue.
It did take me a few chapters to get used to the jumps from flashbacks to present, but once I got the hang of it, I didn’t even notice it.
From the moment Bennett gets that fateful phone call about Felix, my heart was in my throat. I suffered every agonizing moment he did. I was so scared for Felix and all the nefarious plans Vargkung had for Felix.
I was so angry that Felix’s ex was making things so hard for Bennett. Staking his claim on Felix basically just out of spite not because he really cared. Especially not after everything he put him through.
I love green flag alphas, and Bennett is the greenest flag ever. That man was the consent king. He never did anything Felix wouldn’t approve of and it took a life or death situation for Bennett to actually do something without Felix’s permission.
He figured it was better to have Felix hate him than losing him. Lucky for him, Felix was more than happy with the decision Bennett made and wouldn’t hold it against him. He knew it should have happened sooner but he wanted to do right by his ex despite it all.
“𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰 𝒔𝒂𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒚’𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒑.”
Bennett finally claiming Felix made me so happy. They were always supposed to be together but Bennett just wanted to wait him out. Again, greenest flag alpha ever! Loved this book so much.

What a way to start a series!
I’m so glad I picked this one up because it completely pulled me into the world of Mirror Lake. There is so much packed into this first installment—the characters, the developing romance, the bigger storyline, the tension, and the heat all worked together to make this such an addictive read.
This is an MM alpha/omega romance, and I especially loved the way the Alpha side of the relationship was handled. There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing him become fiercely protective when it comes to his Omega, particularly when someone he doesn’t want around him starts getting too close. That possessive, protective instinct was definitely one of my favorite parts of their dynamic.
The story does move through different points in time, but I never found the time jumps confusing. They actually worked really well because each one adds another piece to the overall picture and gradually fills in information that makes the current events easier to understand.
And now I have SO many questions!
There’s a much larger story unfolding beyond the romance, and by the time I reached the end, I was left thinking about everything that had happened and trying to piece together what might be coming next. We get enough answers to keep the story moving, but there are still plenty of mysteries surrounding the characters and what is really happening in Mirror Lake.
That ending definitely feels like a doorway into the next installment rather than a complete stopping point, and now I’m impatient for Book 2. I need to know more about these characters, their relationships, and all the things happening beneath the surface.
This was such a strong beginning to the series, and I’m already invested. Bring on the next book because I have questions that need answers!

Advanced Reader Copy Review:
Thank you so much TAA and Dani for a the chance to read and review! All thoughts are my own.
There are times throughout Knot A Chance that had the potential to make this a 5 star read but it never quite got there for me. Bennett and Felix were honestly adorable, and I loved how easily they fell into their designations and each other’s lives after meeting. Where Bennett is more serious, Felix is more carefree so they really balanced one another out.
I won’t get into Felix’s history much because it plays a vital role in the storyline but Bennett is accepting and understanding of his past, and idk if it’s because of the fated mate bond but he did just open his heart and arms to Felix from the start!
Throughout the love story, we have the drug ring throughout the three towns. I liked the idea of it but somewhere along the way the execution fell flat. We meet A LOT of characters in this book (side bar: I had to go and look through the descriptions on all 3 books bc I was really confused thinking I missed Ally and Wyatt’s story but that’s book two… Dani does go into more detail on that at the end). The nicknames and then their real names had me going back and forth.
The spice was good, great at times really, but ya girl is nnootttt a water sports fan… Was this info in the signup and I just overlooked it because I love MM OV? Maybe? Usually it’s an automatic no for me. It was done well but it started to feel excessive once they both realized they’re into it. If that’s your vibe, then def check pick this up!
Overall, solid book. I will probably continue to read it once they’re all finished! I think I’d rather just read the others back to back since there is a storyline woven into all 3.

Knot a Chance is the first in a new Omegaverse romance series. Following Bennett, an Alpha and Felix, an Omega's relationship before and after Felix is the victim of a suspicious hit and run.
We are immediately thrown into the story with an intriguing prologue. We have a Drug Lord Alpha instructing another Alpha to cut all ties to his previous life if he wants a position within his ranks. Then we cut to Bennett being told about Felix's accident, leading the readers to connect both chapters. The past and present threw me off a bit considering it is reflected by month rather than month and year, but after a few chapters it got easier to understand. It was such a great way to depict the relationship between our Heroes as we can see just how in love they were regardless of their bond. Bennett would truly do anything to ensure Felix's safety.
"I don't want to own you. I want to cherish you."
This is my first Dani Grimes book and I can honestly say that I liked where the story went. I wasn't sure if this was my cup of tea in the beginning but the more we got into the story, the more I enjoyed seeing the dynamic of the characters. The banter between some of the characters felt off at times but other than that, the writing was pretty good. The plot was easy to follow and didn't feel overbearing. I was even surprised by a few twists at the end which I loved. Literally jaw dropped. The ending was a set up to further the series and I will be sat for the next book.
Also, beware of C19 and C29 if you do not enjoy *ahem* watersports.

That feeling when you pick up a book and it turns out to be something different and even better, this is the book! I know I signed up for a sad but sweet small town MM Romance with a bigger plot in the background but man it’s so much more!!
I loved the dual timeline and the different POVs! It honestly worked so well and the fact that you get to see how Bennett and Felix met while also experiencing the current tragic events had me so emotionally invested. It feels like a movie, it’s so immersive.
Bennett and Felix… 🥺💕 They are such amazing characters!! I was giggling and blushing during that Bar scene when they first met. Gosh… how can you not get weak with an Alpha like that. He is all about consent and making Felix, who is an Omega, feel safe in his presence. That was pure green flag MMC behavior and just like Felix I was not ready!!
The BANTER and TEASING!!!😮💨🔥 Both of them and their flirty energy ugh
Also the way their connection was instant but slowly grew into this beautiful dynamic, thank you!
The hurt/healing element was handled so well and it always warms my heart to see healthy relationships with respect, care and love.
Oh and the side characters!! 🤭 Again that first scene when Ally witnesses the sparks/pheromones between her brother and her new bartender, was pure gold to me!!
This story really healed parts of me just with that first meeting. The author introduced us to her omegaverse but with an interesting twist and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!
Thank you so much Dani Grimes and The Author Agency for the ARC!

Knot A Chance is a slightly darker omegaverse series. Knot A Chance has a massive backdrop painted in the pages giving us world building for future books. We've got a few small towns, a drug dealer that is meddling with the towns to ensure his product is sold, and a love story.
Bennett and Felix are at the center of Knot A Chance. Felix has a wonderful redemption arc because when we first meet him he isn't exactly someone you'd root for but everyone deserves a second chance. Felix is given a second chance and he doesn't squander it. He goes to work, he manages an alpha that was a wrong time, wrong place, wrong person type of situation only to meet his mate and not really understand it until much later. Bennett knew when he walked into that bar that Felix was his even though he was marked by another.
I really enjoyed the layers of this story. You've got crime, you've got love, an accident that moves the story, and all the while this drug dealer is trying to make sure you aren't going to live because you're the problem... but you really aren't.
This complex read took me a few rounds to get through because it's that heartfelt and deep. You're going to feel what Bennett feels and sympathize with Felix. So buckle up, grab some popcorn and beverages because this story is going to have you locked in until the very end.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

This is the first book in this series and man do we meet some really good characters and I cant wait to get everyone’s books but first let’s talk about Bennett Winchester and Felix Kipling. Bennett is a mechanic that owns his owns shop and has one other employee. His sister owns a bar that he goes to every night to have one beer just to unwind before going home to relax. He is happy with his life that includes his family and his group of long time friends. Felix is new to town and is trying to keep his life together after battling addiction. The minute Bennett spots Felix and smells his fresh snow scent he knows that they are fated mates. Felix doesn’t sense this at first because he thinks he is broken and he is scared of relationship because of his horrible ex. Felix is drawn to Bennett and his fresh pine scent and ends up agreeing to go on a date. I could go on and on about this book but there is so much that happens that I don’t want to spoil any of it.
I just fell in love with both of these men and the way that they love each other. MUST READ!!!!!

This was an awesome introduction into Mirror lake series with enough facts and descriptions of allt he other characthers in this small town that makes you interested in reading the rest of the series, also keeping the mystery going through other books is also very well written, even ig it does leave you hanging in that part the HEA for Bennett and Felix makes up for it immensly.
Bennett completely won me over. He’s protective, patient, compassionate, and devoted to Felix without ever pushing him faster than he’s ready for. Even with every alpha instinct urging him to claim his omega, Bennett recognizes that Felix’s past has left deep scars, so he chooses to earn his trust instead. Watching him show, through his actions, that Felix was safe with him was one of my favorite aspects of the story.
Felix’s past has made him cautious and hesitant to trust anyone. As much as he wants Bennett, believing that their bond could be genuine doesn’t come easily. I loved seeing his defenses slowly come down as he began to accept the love, comfort, and stability Bennett offered. Their relationship unfolds with so much care, patience, and emotional depth, while still maintaining incredible chemistry.

Okay, this was EXACTLY the cozy romance I needed. 🥹🖤 Bennett & Felix were warm, sweet, comforting... with just enough spice. 😮💨🔥
🐺 Omegaverse
❤️ True mates
🏡 Small-town romance
🔧 Mechanic vibes
🖤 Hurt/comfort
🔎 Suspense & mystery
🔥 Slow relationship build
What I loved most was how the omegaverse complemented the romance instead of taking it over. Sometimes these relationships move FAST, but here we actually get to watch Bennett and Felix fall for each other and build something real. 🥹
Bennett giving Felix the time and space he needs while being completely gone for him? YES. Their relationship felt safe and warm even when the story got darker. ❤️. I also really enjoyed the dual timelines. ⏳ We flip between them without losing either storyline, and the pacing felt just right.
And the suspense? 👀🔎 I know it won't be everyone's thing, but I LOVED having that darker thread running underneath the cozy small-town romance. It gave the story some bite without taking away from the sweetness of Bennett and Felix. Knowing the suspense continues through the next two books? I'm in. 👏
This gave me the small-town cozy vibe I wanted WITHOUT feeling shallow or uneventful. Warmth, romance, emotional depth, spice, and just enough danger.

Knot a Chance completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. This sweet, emotional, and suspenseful MM omegaverse romance had me hooked from beginning to end.
This story was well-paced, and I really enjoyed the dual timelines and dual POVs. They flowed seamlessly and made it easy to follow the story while adding depth to both Bennett's and Felix's journeys. Dani Grimes also handled the addiction representation with care and sensitivity, which I really appreciated.
Felix and Bennett's relationship was absolutely adorable. Watching them fall for each other while building trust and protecting one another was beautiful. Bennett's patience, devotion, and fierce protectiveness made him impossible not to love, and the chemistry and banter between them were off the charts.
The mix of romance, hurt/comfort, fated mates, and romantic suspense made this such an engaging read. I couldn't put it down and was rooting for Bennett and Felix every step of the way.
This was a fantastic start to the series, and I'm already looking forward to Book 2!

A Joyfully Jay review.
4 stars
Dani Grimes is a new-to-me author and Knot a Chance is the first book in the Mirror Lake series. It’s a world where Alphas, Betas, and Omegas are the population. Bennett is an Alpha and he knows immediately that Felix is his true mate. Felix was mated by choice a few years ago, but a true mate can override that bond. Bennett learns that Felix isn’t ready to jump into another bond and Bennett isn’t even sure Felix realizes they are soulmates and he will wait for Felix for as long as needed.
The book is told in alternate timelines—present day where Felix is in a coma, and three years prior when Felix arrived in Mirror Lake. The found family between Bennett and his friends was an added highlight and the tangled relationships that his sisters are in look to be interesting reading as the series progresses. Bennett and Felix get their HEA here, but the larger storyline will continue into the next books where different characters will be the focus.

Knot A Chance by Dani Grimes is a fun, engaging romance that pulled me in with its small-town atmosphere, undeniable chemistry, and characters who felt easy to root for. From the beginning, the story has that cozy-but-complicated feeling that makes it hard to put down. What I enjoyed most was the relationship between the main characters. Their chemistry was obvious, but their journey isn’t completely smooth, which makes the romance feel more entertaining and believable. There are plenty of moments that made me smile, along with enough tension and emotional moments to keep the story moving. The Mirror Lake setting added a lot of charm. There’s something especially enjoyable about a story centered around a close-knit community where everyone seems to know everyone else’s business. It creates opportunities for humor, drama, and those fun interactions that make you want to spend more time in the world. Overall, Knot A Chance was a charming start to the Mirror Lake series.

I’m going to be honest… shifter/wolf romance is not usually my thing. But when one of my favourite authors writes something outside my typical genre, apparently I have no choice but to take the chance, and I’m so glad I did!
Bennett and Felix had me completely invested. We’ve got fated mates, MM alpha/omega, hurt/comfort, a seriously protective alpha, small-town vibes, and romantic suspense all wrapped up in one very spicy package.
And when I say spicy… I mean SPICY. There were definitely a couple of things that weren’t for me (ie/water sports), but hey! who am I to yuck someone else’s yum? There’s an audience for everything!
What really worked for me was the emotional side of Bennett and Felix’s relationship. Bennett’s patience, protectiveness, and determination to let Felix set the pace made it easy to root for them, while the suspense kept me turning the pages.
This was a fun departure from my usual reads, and now I’m officially invested in Mirror Lake.
Bring on Book 2!
Thank you to Dani Grimes and The Author Agency for the ARC. This review is only my opinion.

I love all the books written by this author, but this series might just become my favorite.😍😍😍😍😍
This is the kind of book you devour in one sitting!!! I couldn't put it down!!!! The story is perfectly constructed and keeps you hooked the whole way through!!! It shifts between the present and the past as we learn how the relationship between Bennett and Felix develops!!! They are simply ADORABLE together! They’re going to be living rent-free in my head and my heart for a long time! The emotions in the story were so palpable that I felt like I was experiencing Bennett’s distress and despair firsthand—I still have goosebumps! But that’s no surprise, since Dani Grimes has a gift for making us experience emotional moments as if we were the protagonists themselves!
Finally, thanks to Dani Grimes for introducing me to a kink (reading-wise) I didn't know I had—phew! So hot! So primal—wow! It’s enough to make you flush! 🥵🥵🥵🥵💦💦💦
I can’t wait to read the other two books in the series "Knot a Problem" and "Knot a Word"

Thank you to Dani Grimes and The Author Agency for the ARC of Knot a Chance. This was my first non-fanfic experience with omegaverse and it didn’t disappoint at all! Our two MMCs are Felix, who is an omega, and Bennett, who is an alpha. The story very smoothly jumps between April and June. Wow - a lot happens in a short time. Felix moves to town in May for a fresh start away from all the locations that are triggering to his history of addiction. The story begins in present time - June - when Bennett’s worst nightmare is coming true. Felix is in a car accident and is found to have relapsed in his drug use after being sober for 3 years. But something seems off. Not all is as it seems.
I love the tropes in this book - found family, omegaverse, fated mates, small town, hurt/comfort, and romantic suspense. Bennett was so protective and respectful which was definitely green flag. Loved it. This met all of my expectations and it was kept me anxiously engaged waiting to find out how it would all come together. Very well written by Dani Grimes.

Knot a Chance
Wow what a change from Dani's "normal " writing... and I'm here for it!
Bennet is the local mechanic in Mirror Lake, not only that he is an alpha that has been waiting for his true mate.
Felix has come to Mirror Lake for a fresh start after going through rehab. Plus he needs to distance himself from his mate who will never get sober.
On Felix's first night at his job at the bar, Bennett walks in and immediately Felix is drawn to him. But unlike Bennett realizing that Felix is his true mate, Felix doesn't recognize it.
Now three months later Felix lays in a coma and his mate has shown back up.
This is a great take on an omegaverse... the underlying story line of the drug ring interwoven in the relationships of Bennett, Ally & Wyatt, and Oakley, Reid and Donavan is captivating.
Loved how secuality is no big deal and how Alpha females are the only ones that can shift.
Felix and Bennett were beautiful... now I want Ally & Wyatt to find their omega to complete them and I want Oakley to find her true mate (though deep down I want it to be Reid, not holding my breath) ....
Thank you for this great read Dani

"Knot a Chance" is the first book in the Mirror Lake Series.
Bennett Winchester is a mechanic who runs his own shop, living a quiet life in Mirror Lake with his family and friends. That all changes when Felix Kipling shows up. From the moment Bennett meets him, he’s got this gut feeling that Felix is his true mate. But Felix has been through a lot and is pretty wary about trusting anyone, so Bennett takes it slow, wanting to let their relationship unfold in its own time.
Just when things start to heat up between them, disaster strikes—Felix ends up in a coma after a terrible accident. Now Bennett's stuck making some tough calls about Felix’s future and suspects the crash wasn’t just a freak accident. With the local sheriff digging into a bigger criminal scheme and Felix’s ex popping back into the picture, Bennett’s ready to do whatever it takes to protect the guy he loves.

Talk about an epic start to a book!
I’m so in love with the emotional aspect of Felix and Bennett they are so amazing!
It’s such a wild ride from the beginning and I love Mirror Lake!
I was a tiny bit thrown by the time jumps but I ended up loving the back and forth because it just added so much to their story and made you fall for them even more! It’s hard to review without spoiling because so much happens for Felix and Bennett is our protective Alpha
I’m curious to see how the over arching story plot continues through the series I have a small idea who is behind everything which of course probably means I’m wrong but I can’t wait to find out!

What a start to the Mirror Lake series 😩🥰 Bennett and Felix are so frickin hawt and cute. Their story made me feel so warm, cozy, kinky and sassy 🙂↕️😉 Their chemistry is so hawt and intense 🔥 Thank you so much, Dani, for this ARC 💙
Bennett is so Alpha daddy, intense and frickin hawt🧎♀️ He had me giggling and smirking through almost every chapter 😈 The way he is so protective over his man 🥹 Felix is one of the cutest and feistiest omega's ever! He is Bennett's perfect counterpart, and the calm to his storm 🥹 He is a golden retriever and equally as kinky as his man 😈
The absolute yearning and angst these two served 😩😩 When I mean down bad for each other, I mean it 🔥😏
The spice had my jaw dropped and me blushing 😏 I did not expect it, but loved it! I can't wait for book 2 because omfg 😩 The teasers for them!

Wow, this is exactly what I never knew I needed in an MM omegaverse. The plot and characters had me completely invested from beginning to end.
I love the small town goodness and suspense.
Bennett and Felix absolutely stole my heart. I just love a man who is smitten and down bad. Bennett was hooked from the start, and his protectiveness was so swoony. Felix is so fun and sweet. Their dynamic was both hot and adorable.
The dual timeline was well written and easy to follow. I enjoyed the dialogue as well.

Knot A Chance is a cozy small-town MM alpha and omega romance with mystery and suspense thrown in for good measure, that I gobbled it all up in one sitting. This was written in dual POV and timelines, but it is so easy to follow. It actually adds to the overall story as it adds more pieces to current situation.
There is the protective instinct from both men is amazing and as the romance unfolds, you can feel the love they have for each other, but you can also feel the anguish Bennett has for the unknown while Felix is stuck in his coma.
Trying to piece together the mystery that was unfolding as I was reading, kept me guessing until the end, and now I cannot wait for book to uncover more as I have been left with plenty more questions.

An interesting introduction to the Mirror Lake series! I liked Felix & Bennett as a pairing and I liked the unique OV lore in the book! The timeline of the book took a little getting used to, with the tense shifting between past and present and it did take a minute to understand what was happening with the plot. The cons of the book were the excess of tragedy backstory wise, I think a lot of small town romances have that issue though where trouble and tragedy seems really common instead of a rarity and it reminded me of a soap opera so not necessarily a bad thing!

The story itself is really interesting with the mystery on how big is this actual criminal organization is. And the characters itself. They are very interesting. I like the family and how close they are. And now for our main character, Felix, I like the fact that he had the courage to get sober. It works so hard to be where he is at the end of the book. And that he has a life worth living now. And for Bennett, his alpha he is loving, caring, and supportive. And I like the fact that he will get on his knees for his Omega. And you get to see the soft part of him being an alpha. Overall, I enjoyed the whole story. I cannot wait to find out what’s happening in this town and who else was gonna fall in love.

This had all the makings of a great omegaverse story. I just didn't like it personally. It did include some of my favorite ABO lore, like nesting, but it also just felt entirely watered down to me. I found the characters really endearing but I just wasn't hooked. I thought the plot was good, but I was just looking for maybe a little more complexity or angst or something to really hook me. It was however, very very sweet, and Bennett and Felix's relationship was all kinds of adorable and soft. I typically don't like a dual timeline but since this was only 3 months I thought it was fine and fit the story really well. I also think the watersports was written incredibly well. Like maybe the best watersports kink I've read to date. Just overall wasn't quite for me.

This book kicks off the series and it's really good. It's an emotional yet suspenseful omegaverse romance that had me completely hooked from the beginning. Loved the plot too. It's definitely an addictive page turner. Plus Bennett and Felix were lovely characters. They were perfectly perfect for one another. I feel like this was a well-balanced and well-written story. And it is an absolute must read. I can't wait to see where the series is going to go and what's coming for the next book. Thanks so much to the author agency and the author for a copy of this.
