I absolutely loved this compulsive and suspenseful literary novel! Questions of power and consent become complicated when our eminently respectable heroine begins to weigh the wrongs done to her against the wrongs she has visited upon others. What will Charlotte sacrifice in the pursuit of her ambition, and how should she be judged? This exceptional novel is sure to spark many fascinating conversations!

Loved the salacious scandal in this book and the way the plot builds and builds. There was a lot of suspense and I felt all of the emotions Charlotte did - especially the fear and panic. This was a genius plot and a unique story of scandal. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
