A transfer student with social anxiety An NHL prospect with hidden insecurities One spicy pre-game ritual
Transferring to Northern U and losing a year of credits is the last thing I expected. Then again, developing social anxiety halfway through high school wasn't exactly on my bingo card either. Since then, I've become more shadow than person, slipping through life unnoticed. My therapist tells me to use this as a fresh start. Make friends. Join a social circle. Maybe try flirting. Yeah. Okay, I’ll get right on that. Hey, maybe I’ll start with the hot hockey captain! Tell him all the things I want him to do to me after the game. Give me a break. But when I hear about a campus-wide app where fans send love to the team, I’m instantly intrigued. And it’s anonymous? Say less. Zero risk and I cross “socializing” off my list. Until the team captain heart’s my message. And every single one I send after. When I don’t “send love” at a game they happen to have lost, Kane shows up at my tutoring table at the library with a proposition of his own. Keep sending him love—since it’s clearly his good luck charm—and he’ll teach me to flirt *and other things* instead of hiding behind my phone.
And so begins…our pre-game ritual.
TROPES Hockey romance Dual stalking Boy obsessed Slow burn Spice lessons No breakup
Send Me Love is a steamy college hockey romance. While not a dark romance, it contains themes like abandonment, anxiety, and fear of loss.
It’s a complete standalone with an HEA. The first book in the Campus Heat series following the athletes of Northwind University, Montana and the girls who fall for them.
❤️ Shy fmc 🏒 Hockey mmc ❤️ She leaves him anonymous messages 🏒 Dual stalking ❤️ Lessons for her 👀 🏒 Mental health rep ❤️ He stands up for her
I was so excited at the idea of this story. The app for sending love to the team was such a unique plot point. The characters both had reasons they struggled with themselves.
Isla has years of moments that didn't give her time to grieve or heal. She suffered the loss of her mother, incarnation of her father, and treated wrong by the aunt who she lived with. So she closed herself off but her journey to start standing strong was enjoyable when it came. She meets several people such as the roommates that were just awful. She gains a best friend who was amazing from the beginning named Tisch. The hockey team without a doubt welcomed her and there wasn't even drama that came from them either.
Kane is the son of a famous father who has passed away. He suffers when it comes to his mother's behavior and it hinders his growth. He has a good coach, team, and with the new addition of Isla he has a support system that is healthy. He had a way about making her feel seen. Kane had all the green flags and a side note he is bedazzled. 👀
What was really appreciated about this story was there wasn't any miscommunication, 3rd act break up, or OW/OM drama. This story had character growth, sincerity , and there was most importantly trust between them. The ending was happy and even gave hope that soon her father would be free. If you want a sweet fun romance this is a good one to read.
Thank you for the chance to receive the ARC and this is my honest review! ❤️
That was… epically beautiful in a different way than books are epically beautiful. The journey is the beauty. Isla is socially awkward and has severe social anxiety. She wasn’t always this way, but life was cruel to her. I related to Isla so much. My high school was trying to stay as invisible as possible in a room full of people. How she thought, the panic. It was familiar so I really related to her and what she was going through. Anxiety is so different from person to person but the author captured it so well I was feeling anxious with the character. My heart was pounding, I felt shaky, I wanted to jump into the book and hug her so badly so many times. But Kane… whew boy Kane. Turns out Isla didn’t need a hug from me at all. She needed a big hot hockey guy to notice her anxiety and decide welp it’s on me to fix it. Kane is a big ole teddy bear. With a healthy dose of imposter syndrome. He is lovable and sweet. He is protective as heck even while denying his feelings. Even when self doubt tried to pull him under. His journey was beautiful too. I fell in love with the characters and I did not want to put this one down. I cannot wait to see what comes next and I’m really looking forward to seeing a few of these boys books.
ARC review. I believe this is going to be released 8/27/26.
I’m genuinely very happy with this book and I read A LOT of hockey smut. Spice is good with this one. Kane is a green flag, a little bit of an ego there for a sec. First book in the series setting us up nicely for more books to come with more relationships and I can’t wait for them.
Honestly thought this could have been longer to deal with more “parent drama - resolution” but that’s just me feeling like those background/side stories needed to be wrapped up nicely. Honestly not upset by it.
Overall this is a great read, good spice and not once did I feel tempted to DNF. I’m no quitter and most books I’m ready to just be done. Not this one!
A student transfer with social anxiety & a hockey captain with insecurities, the journey these two take was phenomenal. I loved the growth of both characters throughout without it being too cheesy or cliche.
I really enjoyed the brief bits of Tisch and can’t wait to get more of her story in the next book!
There were a few plot points that were introduced that I would’ve liked to see develop more, one seemed rushed and the other just left in a dead end so that was a little disappointing.
Overall, i really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read what else Kat releases in the future!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4.5⭐ I absolutely love the social anxiety rep in this. As someone who struggles with anxiety in general and avoids being around people books like this make me feel seen. I had such a great time reading this and absolutely devoured it. I loved how supportive Kane was and how he pushed her to stand up for herself, to speak her mind. He helps her work on her confidence and she's his lucky charm. Isla isn't to be discounted though; she helps push him to realize he is so much more than his father's name.
✨ARC Review✨ This was such a wonderful story. It is only my second hockey romance book and I was absolutely pleased. I genuinely appreciated the way the author presented mental health issues while offering realistic solutions that can give others the hope to heal. The romance was without a doubt spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️. This is definitely one of my favorites of 2026!!! I cannot wait to read more from Kat Dawson. Thank you to her for allowing me the ARC opportunity. It was an absolute joy and cannot wait to add to my trophy shelf.
