My name is Harper. My job sucks … literally. I hunt evil, red-eyed vampires for a living. My employer is a group called the Alliance; a secret organization that pays my bills and my taxes. What more could a girl ask for? Everything in life was going just fine until the Alliance decided to switch the enemy. My newest assignment is to execute a werewolf. That was their first mistake. You see, there's a reason I hunt vamps. I have a score to settle with the entire race. They took something from me and turned me into a monster. Once a vampire taste the first drop of human blood, they go insane and kill any human they meet. I've been a vampire for almost sixteen years and still have yet to take a human's life, or taste their blood for that matter. The Alliance has informed me that if I don’t take out the werewolf I will become their next target. And that was their second mistake.
Theo: I should hate her. I should want to rip her undead heart from her body. Yet for some reason my instincts are telling me not to. She says she was here to save us, but she works for the enemy. I’m sure trusting her will be the death of me, but I have to try. She’s different than the rest of the evil monsters that took my one true love from me years ago. Together we will destroy the enemy. And if she does betray me, I'll kill her.
. This book is a fast paced, action driven, do or die love story. Readers 18+ due to graphic violence, language, and sexual conduct
5 stars for sure with this book!! I found it as a free read and I can't wait to read the next. I love supernatural books but lately I haven't found one that has caught my attention (besides a few series I already read) but this one I fell in love with since the very first chapter. To me it was well written & had a few twists I didn't really see coming..
I am so happy that Mary Whitten has bought out another series! I loved the Emily Sullivan series and had high hopes for this one, let me tell you I was not disappointed. I have stormed through this book because I couldn't put it down, very little sleep was had because I was far too engrossed to put my kindle down!
I adore Harper - she's a takes no shit, don't need help, can handle herself, kick ass, half turned vamp who refuses to drink human blood is hell bent on revenge on the vampire that killed her family and turned her. Then we meet the delectable Theo, quick pass me a fan just thinking about him gets me hot under the collar, he is one seriously hot alpha werewolf (need I say more?). These two are perfect for each other, but (and there is always a but) he hates vamps and she is sure she couldn't have a relationship in her line of work. Hmm Harper's work, don't get me started on the people Harper works for, **insert extremely rude words here**.
There is humour and sarcasm in spades in this book, the storyline is well thought out and you feel vested in the characters and find yourself routing for them. The fight scenes are immense and the love scenes, well they'll certainly get your pulse racing.
Book 2 asap please Mary, I don't think I can wait long to see how Cat gets on with recent changes.
Eh... it was ok, the main character was good I liked her spunk reminded me of Feral Sins main girl. However I was looking for more Wolf action. I really liked the way the wolfs transition and was expecting the leader to transition and show off his strength especially after witnessing 3 of his pack members get picked off but nope I feel like he just sat back most of the time and giving Harper the pep talk or playing the therapist. Even when he did fight he never transitions??? What werewolf never transitions during a fight against another supernatural being??? Harpers guilt tripp was also started to get to me almost every other page. The end of the book did really feel rushed no twist of any kind. I don't know I found it over all ok wasn't wowed. I'll give the second book a try when it comes out.
Harper is a spitfire with a mouth that'll make you laugh. She's had everything taken from her and hates what she's become. Secrets destroy but self loathing creates an attitude that is perfect for not caring if you live or die. There's nothing to take away. Forming a bond for the first time in eighteen years is unsettling especially when, she's a prisoner for what she is. Trust comes hard but so does love. Great characters and a well thought out storyline.
This was a interesting read. A girl who believes her fa,ily is lost is forced into working in the alliance. They are fully tuned vampires trying to pay God within he supernatural community. Near the end she finds her daughter and husband alive. This book has a bunch of mystery and suspense. Will recommend to everyone.
Started out pretty good, but then got a little flat. Like there was a rush to end the book. There was lots of action and critical things happening at the end, but seemed to lack depth. There were a lot of errors in the wording, that were distracting, seemed to be more in the last half of the book. I still read it all though.
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the storyline premise, but it was lacking in certain areas. I loved Harper's sharp tongue, but the language could have been a little cleaned and still got the point across. The other thing that bothered me was the TYPOS and grammar mistakes!!! A proofreader needs to review these books at least once before they are released.
So, I finished this book last night and found it to be a unique story that I did enjoy. I'm a big fan of secondary characters, so I'm very curious as to where Catherine's story will lead. I'd also love to know more about Jeeves and Skeeter, lol.
I wanted to give this book2 1/2 stars Harper was refreshing but geez talk about over hyping an organization. I expected them to be horrible people hard to kill but it was over In minutes. Not the best and I will not be reading the next.
