Περιπέτειες στον Κόκκινο στρατό

Στον πρώτο παγκόσμιο πόλεμο, στις αρχές του 1915, ο Γιαροσλάβ Χάσεκ επιστρατεύεται στο 91ο σύνταγμα πεζικού, και τον Απρίλιο του ίδιου έτους βρίσκεται κιόλας στο μέτωπο. Μετά την Οκτωβριανή Επανάσταση, δραπετεύει και κατατάσσεται στον Κόκκινο Στρατό. Αγωνίζεται με τους Ρώσους επαναστάτες και ζει από κοντά τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο μέχρι τις 19 Δεκεμβρίου 1920, που επιστρέφει παράνομος στην πατρίδα του. Το 1921 δημοσιεύει στον τύπο μια σειρά από κείμενα με τίτλο: "Οι περιπέτειές μου στον Κόκκινο Στρατό". Πρόκειται για τις εμπειρίες του από τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο -πέρα για πέρα αληθινές- όπως τις έζησε σαν στρατιωτικός Διοικητής της πόλης Μπουγκούλμα, θέση, στην οποία τον είχε διορίσει ο Κόκκινος Στρατός. Η αφήγηση γίνεται σε πρώτο πρόσωπο και δεν λείπει απ' αυτή το γνωστό σατυρικό, χιουμοριστικό και ανατρεπτικό του χιούμορ. About the author

Jaroslav Hašek was a Czech humorist, satirist, writer and anarchist best known for his novel The Good Soldier Švejk (Czech: Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za světové války), an unfinished collection of farcical incidents about a soldier in World War I and a satire on the ineptitude of authority figures, which has been translated into sixty languages. He also wrote some 1,500 short stories. He was a journalist, bohemian, and practical joker.

A small and fun satire of the writer's own adventures during the Russian Civil War as part of the Red Army. I liked it very much since it was short and to-the-point, without getting tiring, along with really good satirical depiction of many aspects of the revolution. Only reason it's not 5/5, is that it doesn't have that flavour that would make it a real classic or something of the short. Oh, also kudos for the very good and funny sketches.

Style incisif, décapant, marquant. J'ai commencé à parcourir les premières pages de ce recueil de nouvelles, qui commençait bien, et très vite j'ai dû me relire quand j'ai été frappé par l'absurdité de ce que l'auteur décrivait et son cynisme avec lequel il boit ses contemporains.

Une belle fable réaliste, des confrontations entre le monde administratif bolchevik qui se créait, et les traditions encore en place en Russie.

A small shot of Hašek's satirical writing style; just enough to get to like it. This novella is the story around a person that is set as city governor in a small Russian city while the bolsheviks take the power. Fast and to the point without redundant deviations it demonstrates how important it is to stay true to ideology and how power can bend that and corrupt, especially if done in a bureaucratic manner. On the side, it was quite interesting to get a first person view of the practicalities of the Russian revolution.

Bottom-line: A great novella to work around the clash between different approaches of ideology.
