Princess Viorina Drăculești has walked through four centuries of darkness without fear. But when Cedric arrives, she reaches for the veil with trembling hands, because she knows him. She has always known him.

Cedric's body remembers what his mind has forgotten, and when he touches her, something in the castle's depths begins to wake. Something hungry. Something that has fed on suffering for centuries—and will not let him leave alive. As Cedric's memories surface and vengeful ghosts take flesh, Viorina must face an impossible let him go, or risk everything for one final chance at forever. Some loves are beautiful.
Theirs is a feast for monsters.

Woven between the gothic shadows of 1890 and the doomed, sun-lit romance of 15th-century Wallachia, The Moonflower and the Wolf is a story of reincarnation, star-crossed devotion, and the devastating question at the heart of every fated love — is it love if it destroys everything around it?

A devastating gothic romance that pulls no punches. Beautifully written, achingly tragic, and utterly unforgettable.

The Moonflower and the Wolf by Isabelle M. Radoi is a beautifully atmospheric Gothic paranormal romance that completely swept me away.

This is a Dracula retelling with a fascinating twist: Dracula’s daughter, Viorina, is the one carrying the curse. At its heart is the story of Viorina and Cedric—a haunting, deeply romantic love story spanning centuries, filled with reincarnation, longing, darkness, and the sense that some souls are simply destined to find one another again.

The writing was one of my favorite things about this book. Radoi creates such a wonderfully moody, Gothic atmosphere that the castle, the Carpathian setting, and the darkness surrounding the characters almost feel alive. It’s beautiful without sacrificing that underlying feeling that something is very, very wrong.

Most of the story is told in third-person multi-POV across dual timelines, moving between the past and present. I especially appreciated how clearly those timelines were handled. The historical sections are italicized, and every chapter identifies the year, so I never had to stop and figure out where—or when—I was. The transitions felt effortless rather than confusing. The epilogue takes place in a third timeline and is perfect.

The characterization was equally strong. I became invested in this entire cast, including the characters I absolutely was not supposed to like. Even the monster at the center of the darker elements of the story felt creative rather than like something I had encountered a dozen times before.

The pacing worked really well for me, gradually building the mystery, romance, and sense of dread before the final 20% kicked everything into another gear. At that point, I did not want to put it down.

Most of all, though, I loved the romance. There is something achingly beautiful about an immortal and a mortal finding one another across time, particularly when their love exists alongside curses, ghosts, monsters, and centuries of tragedy. This story understands that Gothic romance should be beautiful and unsettling at the same time.

Dark, romantic, tragic, atmospheric, and wonderfully Gothic, The Moonflower and the Wolf was exactly my kind of book.

If you love vampire romance, reincarnation, star-crossed lovers, historical fantasy, Eastern European Gothic settings, dual timelines, and love stories where devotion and destruction are never very far apart, put this one on your list.

An easy five stars from me.

In no way possible did a think a story could be so heartbreaking. Every chapter broke me a little more then healed me then broke me again. The ending sent me into a spiral. I have never cried over a story like I did this one.

4 ☘︎ ☘︎ ☘︎ ☘︎ omg am i surprised!!! the author sent me a copy of this book and i was sooo intrigued. a story about a knight and a vampire princess????? sign me up. this story was so devastatingly beautiful. one of the main things that i loved about reading this book was the imagery. it was so visual and everything was described perfectly. i also loved how i was never confused about a single thing. everything was explained beforehand and if i ever DID get confused, it would still be explained. i was never left in the dark about what was happening. i think the third person aspect allowed the readers to see everyone’s point of view. rather than just focusing on viorinas story and experience. i also loved the dual time line. getting to learn the story of adrian and viorina and then going back to the present where viorina is battling this curse while also finding adrian in his new life. everything added up so perfectly. their love and their ending was feels like a fairytale from the olden days (if that makes sense) like something you read from a dusty book at a very old (beauty and the beast type) library. viorina was a very lovable fmc, there wasn’t anything that made me doubt her (other than getting in front of the curse). adrian and his yearning????? wow. the words that he would say to her. the way he always found her like he promised OMG. their ending was, again, so devastating and emotional. i would have loved to see them actually living happily ever after, but it made so much sense how it ended. i’m also wondering what happens in the next book because sorin and clara?????? what was that. and the whole spies or whatever. anyways, this was my first vampire book and i only took points of my rating because im not the best with blood and war and killing. there were so many gory details i personally find it hard to handle lol. i feel like i have more about this book that i need to talk about but it was still so great to read. i never spaced out during it. the story was so flowy, it was very very enjoyable. thank you Isabelle M. Randoi for sending me a copy <3

I received this book from the author herself and I’m absolutely so grateful for the opportunity! This was actually my first gothic romance, and I absolutely loved it. The plot was so unique and very different from what I’m used to. I LOVED the atmosphere, the beautiful details, and the writing. I really went into this book not knowing what to expect, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance. I will definitely be recommending this book to my book girlies, and I will 100% be reading anything else this author puts out!🩶🩶

The premise as a whole is everythingggg. I loved how our fmc is a vampire. The MMC is suchhh a lover boy, it’s so sweet. The romance and writing are very poetic.

The ending felt bittersweet 🥺

Unfortunately I did struggle with the middle of the book, and found it a bit difficult to get through.

Overall, a beautiful gothic love story.🖤

READ THIS BOOK✨

This was my first gothic romance and it did not disappoint. From the first page to the last I was captivated by the beautiful work this author has put into it. It jumps back and forth from different timelines to show you the love, heartache, determination and fight that led up to those crucial moments. I do not wanna spoil too much but if you are looking for a strong female character and a kind and determined male character, yearning of two souls without full understanding, the loyalty of a family that is not determined by blood and a shocking twist that has you turning pages faster than you can read then this book is for you!! 🖤🖤

MASTERPIECE

Wow ok where do I start…. First off this book was amazing . I felt like I was going through a crazy loop the entire time. The FMC is so powerful and resilient I was in shock with how much she went through. The MMC is the sweetest, kindest MMC I’ve read about in a long time. I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. Kudos to the most amazing author because this book was everything I needed and didn’t know I needed all in one. If you’re thinking about reading this please do. It was worth every second

Wow...I ordered this book because I saw a tiktok about it and I'm so glad I did! First of all, the cover is sooooo beautiful. Second of all, where do I even start?! This book is so beautifully written, from the moment I started reading, I was instantly drawn into the story. The descriptions are so well written that I felt like I was totally immersed in the setting. The gothic moodiness, the castle, the gardens, it's just so well-done. And the characters!! omg I absolutely fell in love with Viorina and Adrian! The romance between them is palpable, and the tension between them is THICKKKK.

I really wanted to read a book where the yearning felt real and not forced, and this book def delivered. I could not get enough scenes between Viorina and Adrian. Their characters also have depth and feel genuine, which I found refreshing. The storyline, the characters, the villians, the plot, it all kept me hooked. And I loved how each chapter ended on a sort of cliffhanger, so I could not wait to turn the page! If you're looking for a gothic romance vibe that has magic, knights, princesses, vampires, witches, etc. this is for you. And that's not all. I really liked all the friendships and the themes throughout the book, and I really-really related to Viorina because she stays true to herself even though she's been through so much grief, she still has her morals and doesn't change who she is.

I'm so glad I picked this book up. I will not be able to stop thinking about it for a while.

BOOK TWO NOW PLEASE AND THX?!!

3.75-4 star!! This was such a beautiful gothic story. The author’s writing really instills that gothic, medieval vibe. The story itself is a beautiful rendition of reincarnation and how love trumps all- but also, how our own internal feelings and monologues impact our nature and the way we navigate life. I genuinely felt like this book gave us a wonderful story but also a philosophical one as well. I found myself angry at the end, because it’s not essentially what I wanted. HOWEVER, it was beautiful nonetheless. Again, the authors writing is genuinely so amazing.

Some things that contributed to my rating

- a new plot point- without spoiling, I do believe the secondary plot line should’ve been sprinkled / hinted throughout the story so that readers have a better understanding of what’s going on when we reach the finale. I think having the hints would’ve tied it all together much better and would have created a more consistent and exciting wow factor. With twists, if we don’t have hints then it feels like it’s there for no reason.

- our side character Clara. I wish we had more writing pertaining to how our MMC navigates things with her after everything iykyk. I wanted some development and dialogue between these 2 characters to make it more well rounded. It almost felt like without it, we have a hole that needs to be filled. Not necessarily a plot hole, but a developmental hole in a way.

All in all- I really enjoyed this book!

I loved this book! A friend recommended this book to me and I'm so glad she did! The writing is so poetic and beautiful, the characters are well written, and the story is amazing. I really enjoyed the medieval romance, as I'm a big fan of forbidden princess and knight love stories, and I loved the magical aspects of the book. The book was a mix of gothic meets dark fantasy meets whimsical earth princess, and I loved that combination so much. More people need to read this book because it is absolutely amazing and it needs more hype. I swooned, laughed, got spooked, and cried multiple times while reading this book because it was just that good. The pacing was perfect, the plot kept me invested, and the ENDING...AH THE ENDING!! I felt a roller coaster of emotions at the ending, I need to know what happens next! Also, the paperback copy is so extremely stunning. The front and back cover, as well as the chapter art within the book, is gorgeous.

If you're reading this review...please, please, please pick this book up. I promise you, if you are a lover of gothic romance and fantasy...this book WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!

This book was so freaking good. I loved the characters and the romance so much. The pacing was perfect too, I feel like sometimes certain books have a slow start, which makes me hesitant to read, but not this one! This book immediately jumped straight into it. The author sets up the mood perfectly right from the beginning, and I liked the duel-timeline aspect because it made the plot flow that much better. I'm a big fan of all things gothic and spooky, and I can say this book definitely exceeded my expectations. Also, helloo?!! Dracula retelling?! COUNT ME IN! I literally was so excited when I found out this book was about the daughter of Vlad the Impaler, who's also an earth witch, who's also in love with a handsome knight?! What more could you want?! Ugh it was so good. I've been recommending it to literally all my friends!

The book was quite interesting, unique and still held enough known knowns to make up a great story. In theory.

The beginning was especially intriguing but then somehow it’s soul left and there I was, struggling to read until the end.

It took me a whole month to read this book, which almost never happens. It had not gripped me at all.

Spoilers!!

What the hell was the new subplot in the last pages? It was absolutely unnecessary and weakened the whole reading experience for me. I would have given it 4 ⭐ otherwise…

This book was absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching. The romance was strong, the words held so much meaning, the pace was perfect. I felt all emotions in this book, fear, sadness, happiness, purely an experience. The way each character had purpose was very well written. I can’t explain enough how much I loved this story. I enjoyed the back and forth from different time POVs and the yearning between the two lovers.

I was not expecting this book to be the way it is. The beginning was a bit confusing but it does come all together and make much more sense! This is a good book! Definitely a unique story! I wasn’t too happy with the ending but the epilogue definitely helped!

I devoured this book.

The author did a fantastic job creating the characters and weaving the plot, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I fell in love with the romance between the two main characters, and I enjoyed how the book had multiple different elements, such as romance, suspense, mystery, horror, and action. The writing and dialogue between the characters was well done and beautifully written, and kept me immersed in the story. I will definitely be rereading it again soon, as there were so many details that the author laid early in the story that later tied in at the end. I'm so glad I read this book and I cannot wait to find out what happens with the main characters!
