What happens when an ancient magic is returned to Ireland?

An image flashes through her mind. A stone circle. The sound of screaming. Those haunted blue eyes...

You'd think that if you were Guardian to an ancient magic, someone would tell you, right? Unfortunately for Aisling, the memo got lost in the post. That is, until she accidentally stumbles upon an ancient ritual site and kickstarts a chain of events that will change everything.

When bizarre visions make her think she's losing her mind, Aisling will do anything to make it stop. Even trust the sexy stranger who's spouting nonsense about ancient races and magical feuds.

Trusting the wrong person can get you into trouble.

But when you're the Guardian, trusting the wrong person can get the whole world into trouble.

Magic returns to an unsuspecting Ireland, and with it comes long-buried myths, a thirst for revenge that spans millennia, and danger lurking in every shadow.

Dive into the complete Celtic Curses series and choose your side - the Tuatha Dé Danann or the Fomorians. Ireland's magic is waiting to be Claimed in this thrilling urban fantasy omnibus. Will you choose the right side?

A road trip is supposed to be fun right? Especially when you're taking it with your bestie. Nothing could have prepared Aisling for what's about to happen. Heck, nothing could have prepared ME for what was to come! There was surprise after surprise, the more it unfolded, the more I was having the OMG moments. Magic and mystery, intrigue and twists, murder and sacrifice...yep, all of that and more! Just over halfway through the series, I felt as though someone sucker punched me. The author buries the truth deeply, very deeply, leaving speculation wide open and then shocks the bezoozas out of me when she peels away the layers! Ms Hatchell spun it so convincingly, the wool was pulled over my eyes so much times.

I loved the folklore attached to the story, but then I personally am a sucker for mythology and legends. What impresses me with Laura's writing, is how magnificently she weaves Irish lore into an urban fantasy. There's nothing "usual" about this series at all, one can't help but wonder if it's actually legend, myth or truth... Laura brought it to life. This series was packed to the brim with action, rituals, deception, visions, a really interesting plot, and world, I was hanging on to every word. The pacing was so perfect in this series, methodical, setting a firm foundation, rather than galloping, which escalates, dramatically, almost volatile, with each book. My golly did the author play me like a fiddle! I was hanging on every note, cringing with the "off" notes, soaring with the "right pitch".

And the characters, good golly gerbils are these characters great! I LOVE that I don't know what they're going to do or say next, I LOVE that I'm thrown out by my assumptions or perhaps presumptions, I LOVE how I'm not sure who I do or don't like.... Bres, Brian, Dothur, Killian, a huge question mark, are they REALLY who they seem to be? They are and then they're not! So I'm thrown into turmoil yet again, the cool kind, the intriguing kind. Teagan, heck, I just adore her! Teagan, is Aisling's bff and the intimacy they share can only be from being "soul sisters". I adore both of them. Killian? Geez, he's not even real, as in not in the real world but I want him to be, desperately. These characters settled into my heart, honest they did, warm and snug and I'm not letting go! Which is precisely what this talented author evokes in me, a fierce protectiveness, elicits a very resounding NO when she steers me away, I'm left gasping and grasping out to clutch them, never to let them go.

I thought, at first, that Aisling was extremely gullible but the more I read, the more real to life her reactions are. She's exposed to an unknown world, she's manipulated by those she trusted, she discovers she has magic, she finds out she has a duty, which rattles her brain, but she's tenacious, she's dedicated, she learns to navigate shark infested waters and she comes out the other side, stronger, tougher, with a sense of purpose. Her trusting nature leads her into deadly encounters, only to learn there is no one she can trust. Except for her best friend Teagan, there is no one she can trust, well perhaps Killian, he at least tries to teach her how to tap into her magic, a magic she had no idea she had until...and another complication, she has no idea how to tap into it! All she knows is she's the culprit, she's the one who's released magic back into the world, she's the one trying to figure out the repercussions and golly are there lots!

My word does Ms Hatchell take me on a merry ride! I didn't know if she was going to steer left or right, brilliantly convoluting the path as she veered me off course and in every direction I didn't know what to expect! Ms Hatchell had me wringing my hands in despair, there are 2 characters I really REALLY like and guess what? Yes, this author shakes her finger at me, like "nah ha, you can't see where I'm going with this until I allow it!" I felt more betrayed than Aisling! I absolutely loved the way Teagan, Pete and Aisling rally together, support one another, care for each other, so beautifully heartwarming.

By the time I got to the final book, I was ready to self combust. I normally make notes as I'm reading a book, writing down anything that stands out to me, writing what I'm feeling at any particular moment in the book, but this time it was different. I didn't write down a single word until I got to the end of the final book in this omnibus. I couldn't. I couldn't bring myself to tear myself away for a single second. I know I must have blinked while reading it but I sure as heck didn't register that I had. I felt as though my eyes had been pried apart, held by invisible hooks. Yes, I was like an addict chasing my next fix and, that fix, was the next word, the next sentence, the next chapter....All too quickly, unblinking me, came to the final sentence, unwilling to release my hold of these characters. We'd gone through so much together... This series was an unimaginably amazing read. I loved every minute reading it! This author has talent right down to the tips of her toes, I can't wait to see what else she will grace me with!
