After a near-deadly confrontation with Matron, Althea flees in search of a new sanctuary in Larcia. Believing that family may await her at the end of her journey, she will be forced to confront a new kind of cruelty after learning darkness is not constrained to the walls of the Faith of the Four Spirits Monastery.

Caleb is eager to leave Althea behind, but when her reappearance offers him an opportunity in the form of a treatment for the Anguish, he must overcome his distrust of Omni-Elementals or be consumed by the ghosts of his past.

With his friends on the run, Teegan hatches a plan to end Matron’s reign of terror by exploiting the royal family’s hatred of Omnis, so long as he can survive the hostility of the Great City first.

Set on distinct paths, will the threads of destiny bring the friends together again, or will it sever their ties forever?

Starting this review by saying that book 1 of this series broke a several month long reading slump. It was one of the best books I read last year. I just finished The Anguish of the Omni and I am even more enamored by this series than I was before.

In the first book, I related deeply to Althea. Her character growth from book 1 to the end of book 2 is incredible. I absolutely love how the author wrote her. Althea’s struggles with loneliness and morality and general sense of self is so good.

In this book, I found myself most looking forward to Caleb’s POV chapters. The friendship that has been ever developing and challenged since book 1 grows into something so beautiful as the two journey together in search of answers and hopefully a cure for the Anguish that has plagued many villages with fatal illness. Caleb is forced to face his grief and misguided fears as they encounter challenges and danger along the way.

There are shocking twists and details revealed along the way that I will not get into because I want everyone to experience these books to the fullest extent.

Also… I will forever be haunted by the Orofi.

Thank you so much to the author for reaching out and offering me an ARC copy of The Anguish of the Omni.

Keep your eyes on this YA fantasy author. She is incredible!

"There is nothing i believe in more than the wrath of the omni"

this was such a good sequel and i had just as much fun reading as i did the first book! the writing is still incredibly gripping and i never wanted to put this novel down, every page is an amazing mix of tension, adventure and mystery that kept me reading.

there's so many great things about this book but the main highlight for me is the characters, i love them so much. there all well written, relatable and just a joy to read about. best of all they may be flawed and sometimes morally questionable but they are so easy to route for, with a noble cause and big hearts. i also really liked the tension and slow-burn we see with Caleb and althea through the journey, its just so good.

i love that we got to see more of the world of Arenthiam and discover why being an omni-elemental is so dangerous. it did get a bit chaotic there at the end but nonetheless i have fallen in love with this series and i cant wait to see where it goes in the next books!

Thank you so much Melanie Vandonk for the free ARC of this book in exchange for a review, i am so happy i got the chance to read this series however all opinions i give in the reviews are honest, genuine and my own!

I loved the slow burn of a budding relationship, the growth of the characters, the twists and cliffhangers at the end of certain POVs and the end has me desperate to read the next book
