I was really looking forward to this series. The plot line and character setup sounded fantastic. Right from the start I ran into what I thought were common sense issues. The more I hit, the more distracting it was. Just can’t read it. I thought perhaps this was a very inexperienced young author that knew no better. But the author is a prepper enthusiast survivalist.
An EMP/bomb apocalypse style thriller
These are not spoilers because only including first tiny bit of story.
- Experienced Navy diver deep underwater pees and it attracts a 20 foot 4,000 pound great white shark with vicious intent. But pee doesn’t attract sharks and they aren’t naturally vicious.
- EMP knocks out everything and cars have no brakes. But foot brakes are rarely electronic and hydraulic pedal brakes should still work
- Because traffic lights are out a van gets t-boned by a truck. Van was going 50 mph so must have had green light when power went out. Truck would have been at a red light.
- High school basketball coach yelling kick some ass and game is a shitshow. Coaches and kids aren’t allowed to swear. Shortest high school guy is 6’1” and another guy is 6’7” while saying something about eleventh grade.
-It’s at least five minutes after EMP a helicopter falls from the sky.
- Phones are bricks, there is no power, school parking lot full of chaos and coach kicks school van because remote won’t unlock doors. Obviously only way to get first aid kit out of back is to smash window with a found baseball bat? And good thing first aid kit includes crutches.
And it just keeps going. This author has great creativity and love his writing style. He deserves a great editor and feedback that hits bits of reality and science.

Most stories good

The first book was too wordy. The second book the characters switched at the end making it confusing but the rest of the other stories were just fine
