I received this novella as a free advance reader copy through LibraryThing.

It started extremely well with an intriguing premise. Daniel's girlfriend, Avery, disappears while hiking in California, and after days of fruitless searching, her disappearance is reported to the local police. While Daniel is being interviewed, a woman walks into the station claiming to be Avery. The problem is that he knows she isn't. Yet she knows every detail of his life, and both the photos on her phone and his own now show her—not the real Avery.

So far, so good. The suspense builds nicely, the writing is polished, and for a while I thought this had the potential to become an excellent full-length mystery novel rather than a 55-page novella.

Unfortunately, it all fell apart for me. I won't give away any spoilers, but I found the ending weak and unconvincing. Everything was resolved far too quickly, with a solution that felt overly neat and implausible. It left me disappointed, especially given how promising the opening had been.

Really 3.5* This was a great short thriller that really had me wondering. The ending was a total surprise for me and I think since it wasn’t what I was expecting (not that I really was expecting anything in particular) I couldn’t give it 4 stars because I didn’t love how it concluded. But still totally worth reading!

This short novella took me about 20 minutes to read - that's how hooked I was. It was straight to the plot and there weren't any parts which I sat and thought were unnecessary. A nice
quick read and a good plot-twist ending.

This book is very short, so short that you can finish it in one sitting. It was enjoyable, and I wasn't bored for a moment while reading it. Today I read the new short thriller “Long Weekend” by author Sebastian Gregory.

Daniel and his girlfriend Avery are taking a celebratory weekend at a cabin in the woods. Do some hiking, drink some wine. On the morning of their hike Avery…disappears.

And what follows is 59 pages of….what the heck did I just read?!? (Has someone called the streaming services yet?)

Written in the way he does…with the attention to detail of Disney World or Universal Studios. Where I was swiftly brought on site into the story as an invisible silent witness. No longer sitting peacefully at home with my kindle and coffee. He doesn’t miss a thing in creating the scene, the atmosphere.

Good gravy Sebastian Gregory! I thought I’d need a beta blocker for my nerves. I thought I knew where it was going…boom! Nope. What? Ok…it’s going this way….oh no…just hold on. Idk how you packed this much believable tension, anxiety and wondering if I was losing my mind in so few pages.

This is a true thriller, not the horror tales that the author is known for. Now, he can be known for two genres. And I’ll be there… buying and reading them both.

Highly recommend! Maybe read it on the treadmill…or skip the treadmill…your heart willl get a workout either way.

What starts off as a familiar tale unfolds into an unexpected psychological thriller. This is one of those books that's best experienced knowing as little as possible going in.

It's short, reads fast and kept me turning the pages until the very end. A tense, cleverly constructed story that lingered in my mind long after I finished it.

This is a novella so a lot needs to go in a short time. The ending was to quick and not as suspenseful as it could have been. The story itself was intriguing and I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. I have read other stories by this author and really liked them. I guess everyone has an off day!
