For a short story, this had a good amount of moving pieces that I didn’t quite see coming. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I understood what the author was trying to accomplish, and I liked how the story showed the consequences of jealousy and how it can negatively affect the people around you. In the end, that jealousy can ultimately become your own downfall, which I thought was an interesting aspect of the story.

Always look behind the Scenes

This book was different. I liked it, but I think the most interesting part was the lesson behind it all. What really stood out to me was something my pastor said at church Sunday about how God works behind the scenes. Sometimes the picture we see on the outside looks completely different from what’s really happening in the background. And that’s exactly what those girls created — a picture that looked good on the surface, but underneath it was damaged, tainted, and full of hidden issues.

This story honestly gives a life lesson that can stick with you forever. It makes you stop and think. It makes you more conscious about how you treat people, how far seeking attention can go, and how some choices can lead you somewhere you can’t come back from.

It was a quick read, but still very deep and impactful. Definitely one of those books that leaves you thinking long after you finish it.

Five out of five stars.

I already knew not to trust everybody, but Queen Bee by Linette King took that lesson to a whole new level.
Five women wake up with no memory of the night before, their former leader is dead in the bathroom, and every last one of them has something to hide. Whew. The amount of lying going on in this book should be studied.
I changed my mind about the killer more times than I can count because every chapter had me looking at somebody else sideways. These women called themselves friends, but baby, they were collecting secrets like they were trophies.
Ms. King, come to the front of the room! You had me locked in from the first page, and that ending was worth every minute. This was a quick but impactful read with a life lesson tied in about character and choices, jealousy, deceit and secrets. The twists and ending left me speechless. Do yourself a favor and read this now

Queen Bee and The Hive 👑🐝

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Five women, one dead body, missing memories, hidden secrets, and everybody lying? Yeah…this story had me hooked!

This was a great “who done it?” mystery and Linette King did an amazing job bringing us into the minds of each character while unraveling the mystery surrounding Bianca Jones’ death. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another secret came to light.

What stayed with me most was the message about character and choices—how choices matter long before consequences arrive. This was an entertaining, thought-provoking, and really well-written read.

“You either belonged to something, or you got swallowed by it and I chose to belong. We all did.”

If you are looking for a twisty thriller novella:

-complex friendships
-“who did it?” narrative
-multiple POVs
-lies & deceit
-control & manipulation
-strong jealously
-reaping what you sow
-130 pages

Wow, this was not what I expected at all.
At first, it took awhile to figure out who was who. There were a lot of characters introduced for a novella. Once I got the hang of that, the swap from POV to POV had me unsure where the story would go.

The ending soiled it for me.
I get where Linette King was trying to go with the story with the underlying messages. But, it fell flat for me.

I was literally side eyeing everyone in this book! I just KNEW that officer had something to do with the death of Queen B but I was wrong yet again. This is starting to become a pattern with Linette King’s books. I really enjoyed it and the afterword about making sure to be a good person when no one is looking.

Danmit Man

Well, I just knew those girls had it out for Bianca. Lauren is just nasty. I think she did that on purpose. Every one of them girls thought having a crew is what makes you. There is always a ring leader, leader is always calculated, mean as hell. If I was any one of them I'm Jade.

Excellent Message

What you say and do really does have a bigger effect on others than you think. At the end of the day, treat everyone with the same basic respect and kindness you'd want for yourself. Otherwise you run the risk of setting off a chain of events that can, not only hurt you, but destroy others!!! Self reflection is a wonderful thing, enjoy this read!!!!!

A murder mystery solved by a judgmental detective

This book was indeed a slow paced book, but a quick read the story had you thinking and wondering who could be the murderer you question each characters relationship to the queen bee, and what would be their motive of killing her.

For a short thriller this was okay although I feel like the ending was lackluster and there could have been so much more done with this book we would have been different at the end or if they were just a few more pages of the describing something.

Love the cover - it intrigued me immediately. I definitely was not expecting the way it all played out in the end, but I'm not mad.
