Escaping my Hell

Rate this book
When home and safety turn into Hell.

Being loved means being controlled, humiliated, put down and left broken. Do you stay or do you leave?

I never imagined that the person I thought was the love of my life would turn into the one who took away everything, my life, my dignity and the person I used to be. It happened and now I have no way out. Or do I? Will the unexpected be my saving? A man I never dared to dream about. Will I be able to trust him enough, to let him in to see my bruised, broken, damaged beyond repair heart and soul? Will he become the one and only for me? Only time will tell. All I know is it will be hard, it will be almost impossible, it will be a bumpy road, with huge downs and slow ups, and maybe never an end in sight.

Escaping my Hell by Chantal. H is a standalone Dark/Borderline Pitch Black Romance following Iris and Nick. 🚩🚩This is for adult readers only (18+) as it has mature content and not suitable for underage readers. There are dark and heavy themes that can be triggering so please check out the content warning before you dive in 🚩🚩

My thoughts 💭
This is a heavy book. The details written in the abuse that Iris is put through is so heartbreaking but the reality of it is closer to being the truth than most people want to admit to. So although it’s heavy and heartbreaking, it’s also eye opening. This book isn’t a traditional HEA but there is a healing journey that is very needed and important for the overall story and I appreciate that Chantal included that from Iris’s POV. I grew up around domestic violence my whole childhood and adolescence, I can say confidently that although this is a fictional story, there are aspects of it that are very truthful and explained so well that several moments had me in tears. Not in a triggering way but in a hitting close to home way. Nick is a godsend to Iris, everyone needs someone strong enough to lean on in dark times and Iris meets Nick in the darkest of times. This book isn’t for the faint hearted but it is enlightening and powerful, I love it and recommend it.

✨I would like to thank author Chantal. H for the opportunity to read and review Escaping my Hell.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

Escaping My Hell by Chantal H is an emotional rollercoaster that completely pulled me in from the very first page. The story is raw, intense, and beautifully written, tackling pain, healing, and the power of love with remarkable depth and authenticity.

The characters felt incredibly real, with flaws, vulnerabilities, and struggles that made it impossible not to become invested in their journey. Their emotional growth was handled with care, and every setback and triumph felt earned. The chemistry was undeniable, and the emotional tension kept me turning pages late into the night.

What stood out most was the way Chantal captured the darkness of trauma while still offering hope and resilience. The balance between heartbreak and healing was perfect, creating a story that lingers long after the final chapter.

This is a brutally honest portrayal of a violent relationship and its toxic nature. The book is not for the faint of heart, but it shows—without sugarcoating—how abuse affects the victim and everyone around them.

Chantal writes with staggering authenticity and skill about a difficult and often silenced topic, one that unfortunately is still the daily reality for many.

The book lays bare how an abuser breaks down their victim and maintains an undeniable power hold. At the same time, it shows that even the most controlled and diminished person eventually reaches a moment where they’ve had enough. This story ends in hope, though real life doesn’t always offer that same ending.

Escaping My Hell deals with violence against women and carries a strong message: survival is possible, and leaving—and finding the courage to leave—is never simple. If someone living this reality happens to read this, I hope this story gives them a spark of belief in themselves and the reminder that help is always available.

It’s absolutely worth reading, even though the subject matter is heavy. Check the triggers. And even though this story centers on violence against women, in real life abuse doesn’t discriminate.

Chantal has poured something rare into this book—truth, courage, and a voice that refuses to look away. It shows in every chapter, and it’s exactly what makes this story stay with you long after you close the book.

ESCAPING MY HELL BY CHANTAL H
⭐⭐⭐⭐

A story about surviving and healing that portrays how choosing a wrong person can make your life a living hell. This story wasn’t gentle but powerful highlighting heavy themes and conflicts depicting how trauma and violence shapes individuals life. I enjoy the book throughout and felt deeply sympathetic for the characters.

The story centers Iris, a loving, dedicated woman who lives with her abusive boyfriend Max with whom she struggles to live a happy life. She hopes that someday her life would be better and safe while Max who initially seemed sweet and gentle, after his father’s dead become more violent and has drinking problems.

Iris’s only safe moment is when she is on work. Despite being broken she remains cheerful but her fate shows mercy when Nick enters her life. He saw through Iris’s struggles and falls for her.
Through his gentle encouragement Iris found herself stronger and chooses to escape her hell and build her life.

The novel explores themes of trauma, healing, survival, violence, abuse and revenge driving the plot of the story.

Escaping My Hell by Chantal H is a dark romance standalone that released on June 5, 2026. This story takes readers on an emotional journey filled with pain, resilience, healing, and the courage to break free from a toxic situation.

This book pulled me in from the very first chapter. The heroine's struggle felt raw and heartbreaking, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way. While the story explores some very dark and difficult themes, it also delivers a powerful message about strength, survival, and finding hope when everything seems lost.

The emotional depth was what stood out most to me. Watching the main character reclaim her life and discover her worth made the journey incredibly rewarding. The romance develops amid the darkness, adding moments of comfort and hope without taking away from the heroine's personal growth.

If you enjoy emotional stories that balance heartbreak with healing and leave you feeling inspired by a character's resilience, this book is definitely worth picking up.
