Decoding Money Serenity is a helpful book on addressing and solving one's issues with money and debt, regardless of the type of problem that has landed you in hot water in the first place. It is meant to be used in conjunction with the Serenity Aligned App, but it doesn't have to be. I don't own a smartphone, and so I am unable to download apps, but I still found the book to be worthwhile reading. I particularly liked the section on scarcity. Whether real or perceived, scarcity can lead some people to freeze up and avoid their money problems altogether, because everything is filtered through the fear of "not having enough". This is me. I learned that by choosing not to look at the true realities of my money situation, I was making things worse, and my fear would increase rather than decrease. This will serve to exacerbate the existing issue, rather than looking at it openly and honestly, and then addressing "what is". I like, too, that the book is not about judgement of what landed you in your specific mess, but instead it had more of an attitude of "well, this is the problem in front of you, now where do we go from here?" I learned a lot, and would recommend it to people who believe that it is somehow too late for them to shape their financial future. It's not. **I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway, but all opinions are my own.

This was an interesting one because it looks like a personal-finance book at first, but it actually spends much more time exploring the psychology behind our relationship with money.

What I liked most about Decoding Money Serenity was its compassionate approach. Instead of simply telling readers to budget better, save more, or invest earlier, it asks why we avoid money conversations, feel guilty about financial mistakes, make emotional purchases, or become anxious when things feel uncertain.

The chapters on scarcity, financial styles, and emotional spending particularly stood out to me. I liked the idea that our money behaviour often makes more sense when we understand what we were trying to cope with at the time.

The book also includes reflection exercises and "Personal Action Steps," which make it more interactive than a typical finance book.

For me, the biggest takeaway was simple: financial peace isn't only about having more money. It's also about understanding ourselves better and building financial habits that actually fit our circumstances.

A thoughtful read for anyone who feels that their relationship with money is affecting more than just their bank balance.

Decoding Money Serenity takes a refreshing look at money from a psychological angle rather than just a numbers or budgeting standpoint. The book digs into why so many of us feel anxious, stuck, or “behind” financially, and connects those feelings to deeper patterns and beliefs. I appreciated how it made the emotional side of money feel valid instead of something to ignore or push through.

What stood out most was the focus on practical mindset shifts alongside the theory. It doesn’t just explain the problem—it offers a framework for changing how you think and respond to money stress in everyday life. It’s an easy, engaging read that leaves you with a lot to reflect on and a few simple ideas you can actually start applying right away.

This book meets you wherever you are at financially. Gives simple and sound advice about improving your relationship with your money. Shines a bright light on the stigma that we should not talk about our money nor our stressors with money, debt, and budgeting. Note: I received a free copy of this book in a giveaway.
