Never Too Early #2

Finding Their Way

Rate this book
Continuing from the first book in the series (Never Too Early: The Beginning), Chance and Tucker and Jake and Tor find themselves involved in a friendship that goes much deeper than any of them initially suspected. Jake has been released from the hospital following his fall from the roof, and Chance and Tucker agree to stay in Arkansas for several days to help Tor with Jake's care. Chance, however, spends much of his time trying to resist the growing attraction he has for Jake. The confusion between the love he has for Tucker and the new feelings for Jake play tricks with Chance's mind. Is any of this a good idea, or are all of them headed for disaster? For his part, Jake has to reconcile not only his growing feelings and physical attraction to Chance, but also the promises he and Tor made to each other. They rebuilt their own relationship in the wake of mistakes neither one of them wishes to repeat. How much communication and longing can one -- or two -- relationships take?

I live and write in eastern Canada. I went to a bunch of schools, learned a lot of things, and now make stuff up because not to do so is unthinkable. I'm fond of fountain pens, Levenger's Circa system, and Steampunk fashions.
I'm inspired by the day to day minutia of life, and find beauty in the way words go together. I like texture and richness of experience. I'm not shy. I'm happy, I'm learning, I'm living.

I can't unread this so I'll just wait for what comes next...

I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but this has ended up being one of the most thought provoking and disturbing books I've encountered in quite a while. The premise of this book is essentially what happens when 2 couples who are both in long-term established relationships and who live a fair distance from each other meet and what starts out as friendship becomes something more. Where do the lines get drawn? How do you protect that original relationship? What happens if it doesn't work? Can 4 go back to being 2 and if so will it ever be the same or as good, is better possible? So many questions and so far not really any answers.

I love Tory Temple's Firefighters which is the series that introduces us to Chance and Tucker and I also loved Chris Owens' series Bareback where we got to meet Jake and Tor now the question is do I enjoy what happens when these four men come together in one series? The answer for me is 'I still don't know'. There were things I thoroughly enjoyed about this book. I love the way Tucker and Tor interact, their playful nature with each other and I enjoyed the interaction between the four of them as a group but ironically I found myself uncomfortable with the strength of the attraction between Chance and Jake. Something which is a bit hypocritical even in my own opinion. I do wonder if this is due to the fact that Chance and Jake's relationship is played out more on page while Tor and Tucker are more of an off page thing.

Ok, this is the point where I'm going to put stuff into spoiler tags, so read at your own risk. If you are planning on reading this book maybe avoid this until after you've done so. If you're curious and if you're one of those people that aren't bothered by something that is possibly TMI, feel free to continue reading...

I was really torn when I finally made myself start this review because I couldn't figure out how many stars do I give? I don't have a set guideline for rating and I'm pretty sure even if I did it wouldn't have helped on this one. I went back and looked at the first book again and decided that while this one left me feeling in some ways sad and a little nervous as to how things were going, it wasn't a bad book. Especially not when it has challenged my to step outside of my comfort zone and look at things from a very different perspective.

I also did something that I normally try really hard not to do right before writing this review and that was to peek at what others have written and to be honest it didn't help. It's a real mixed bag out there for this book and I can't say I'm really surprised by it. But, the one thing I do know is that there's another book coming it's going to be titled 'Never Too Early: Full Circle' I'll be reading that one for sure because I can't take back what I've already seen and I'm hoping there's that it will give me some of the answers to my questions that right now I'm just not able to see. So I'm going to hang in there and trust that the authors have this figured out because to quit now would leave my heart aching and my head hurting and that's just not acceptable. Of course I'm hoping that the next book isn't too far from being released as well. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

First things first, there were no apple orchard shenanigans!

description

Words cannot express how shocked I am by this. In fact, the sexy times were few and far between period. Now, I don't know about Chance and Tucker since I didn't read the first book of this series, but Tor and Jake boinked like bunnies in Bareback. Here they're more like friends or maybe Jake's just worn down by Tor's childishness.

There was some buttsex and it was hot, but it was mostly mutual masturbation and longing, though I did dig the voyeurism kink and the hints of bossiness.

I found the LEGO thing endearing in Bareback and the scene was cute here, but the immaturity on display by both Tor and Tucker was annoying. They wrestle, are loud and rambunctious and then the picking a fight because reasons was too much for me. Jake and Chance, on the other hand, are bound for the retirement community any day now. It's a wonder the original two couples are still coupling at all given the disparity in their personalities and, seemingly, interests.

I enjoy polyamorous stories. I do. What I like about them is all parties involved being hot for one another. That didn't happen here. The couples essentially pick new partners and pair off rather than becoming a cohesive unit. On the one hand, I have a hard time believing there weren't more hurt feels involved in this process, on the other hand maybe the couples have simply grown apart and it's time for a change so this "polyamorous" one is a pit stop to Splitsville.

I read this without having read the previous installment and had no trouble picking up the thread of the storyline. I can take an educated guess as to where the story is headed, but this didn't interest me enough to continue to the next one. I found the story dull and the writing prosaic.

Recommend to die hard fans of Tor and Jake or Chance and Tucker.

That was...a little confusing. I' m not saying I didn't like it, I just have a lot of questions.

These are the facts:
-The original couples are still together and going strong.
-This is not a foursome, it is Chance-Jake and Tuck-Tor. And yes there is sex between them with the permission of their respective partners.
-We don't have the POV of Tuck and Tor, so to me they feel more like secondary characters.
-There are feelings involved, not just sexual tension. And there is not jealousy or bitterness. Not even a little bit.

The writing is solid, I expected that from the authors. It is the plot itself that confuses me.

So maybe the goal here is not a foursome. Maybe it is a sort of an open relationship among them. And I'd m ok with that. And I *will* read the final book (which will hopefully explain some things).

UGH! I was intrigued when I heard this was happening. I read book 1 and was apprehensive. Finished book 2 and now I am just annoyed and regret that I started reading this new trilogy.

This is not 2 couples coming together and fooling around (openly). Nope, it's the Jake and Chance show and hot they are for each other. They get physical, sure, its pretty sexy stuff but that is not where this ends.. They actually become another couple out of the foursome. (Tor and Tucker hook up as well but it's mostly off page)

Then the 2 couples meet and decide they will spend the holidays together. What a mess. One particular scene was New Year's Eve. The first person I am going to kiss is the love of my life, which should be Jake and Tor but not only does that not happen but Chance and Jake make a plan to kiss each other first. WTH?? And then there is a phone conversation between them where Jake says "what Tor doesn't know wont hurt him" WTF?? Sorry but that is not Jake. Not after all he and Tor went through.

Then add in the immaturity level.....It was off the charts, arguing like insecure teenagers with no hormone control. I could go on and on but so not worth me re-hashing it.

As I write this, I have now made my decision now to read Book 3 and I am going to pretend this was all a bad nightmare.

Sorry Authors but you did a major injustice to both these amazing couples.

**Warning if you haven't read BOOK ONE this review will contain SPOILERS*

This installment picks up where book one ended. Jake is about to be discharged from the hospital, after being injured, falling off the roof. Chance and Tucker have rushed to Arkansas to be there and agreed to stay a few days, to help Tor and to help get Jake back on his feet.

First of all, let's be honest we all knew where this book was headed. We all knew Jake and Chance are attracted to one another, as are Tuck and Tor. First I am going to give you my review, then I'll tell you how I felt about the story.

I gave it 4.5 stars, because that's what I think it deserves. It's a well written story. It flows well. The characters all have good chemistry. I love that Chris and Tory made the reactions to the situation very realistic. Not everything in this story is smooth sailing and the characters do fight and have trouble with the situation. Feelings are hurt and things need to be smoothed over.

Tucker and Tor are hilarious together. The "twins" had me in stitches with their antics! This book was funny, sweet, sexy, steamy and heartbreaking at times. It took me on a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
I couldn't tell this was written by two different authors. It all blends together very well.

My problem with the book, and the reason for it not getting 5 stars is that it's told in Jake and Chances POV's, and it feels very much like their story and that makes Tucker and Tor feel like secondary characters. I'm not sure if this was the authors intentions or not, but I wish they felt more like the main characters in the story as well. Chance and Tucker don't interact much and I missed that. We get to see Tucker, but only through other people's eyes really. Jake and Tor did interact, so Tor doesn't feel as much like a secondly character as Tucker does.

*These are just my opinions and have no actual bearing on my rating of the story*
Now I am going to give you my personal opinion. I DON'T like it! I don't like seeing Jake and Chance together. I liked Jake and Tor, but Chance and Tucker hold a very special place in my heart and it hurts to see them with other people. :( I was upset that we didn't see more interactions between Tucker and Chance. Will I read the last book? Yes, because I can't stop now, I have to finish. I may not be happy about, but I'll finish. I don't like that the dynamic of the relationships are changing. Chance and Tucker don't express their love, and so that makes me feel even MORE insecure and anxious about the situation. Maybe if they actually said I love you, I would be okay with it, or at least feel better about it. I think I need to be reassured by the authors that Tucker and Chance are still okay, and in a loving committed relationship.

I said it in my last review, and I stand by it, if you don't mind sharing, and don't have a problem with or you like a poly relationship, actually it's not really a poly, I would categorize it as a swinger type situation from what I've seen so far, this is a great book. I'm just not a person who shares well with others. I have too jealous of a personality and am too insecure for that.

The blogger Girls

It’s no secret that Bareback is my all-time favorite M/M book and that Tor & Jake are my all-time favorite M/M Characters. It’s the first book I recommend to new readers in this genre, so it goes without saying that I will read absolutely anything with these two guys in it. So, with that being said, I am confused and tragically unsure of my feelings after reading this book. It was a great story – I’m glad there’s another book in the works, and I’ll devour that book as soon as it’s released…but I am still dealing with a plethora of mixed emotions.

Cheating in a story doesn’t bother me. As a matter of fact, I get off on the angst and emotional death spiral attached to the infidelity. But, there isn’t really any cheating here; it’s agreed upon playing between two consenting couples. Or is it? Playing does not involve the heart, emotions, and love…at least not that I am used to, and I am so confused as to what to think right now. I don’t want Jake and Chance to be in love….Jake is in love with Tor…right? And what about Tor and Tucker…the twins…as Chance and Jake call them? They were almost secondary to the budding love affair between Jake and Chance. I am really, really confused.

So, I will leave this review for now and hold off on my final thoughts for when the final book is released. I am so freaking scared to read that book, but like a bad train wreck, I can’t avert my eyes. I can’t even begin to fathom where this storyline is going, and every possible plot that pops into my head leaves me wanting more or screaming “no”, so I’ll just have to sit back and wait….have I mentioned how much I hate waiting?

Though the ending of Never Too Early: Finding Their Way didn't leave me in a quandary, I'm glad I waited until Never Too Early: Full Circle was out before reading this book.

Never Too Early: Finding Their Way, is told from Jake's and Chance's POV and is about both couples exploring a new dynamic in their relationships. There is no menage here, at all, and I kind of find that disappointing. Jake and Chance explore being more intimate and Tor and Tucker do some exploring of their own. There doesn't seem to be any jealousy, which I was happy for, but I'm concerned as to how things will end up with the two couples.

I would have loved to have gotten some of the story from Tucker's and Tor's POV, though. How are they really seeing things? Throughout the book they are more in the background and almost always horsing around and playing. But we don't really get how they are seeing things and how they are really feeling about the whole arrangement, except what Tor tells Jake and what Tucker tells Chance. Also, I'm not sure what was up with Tor and Tucker acting like and being treated like children almost the whole time. That was just weird.

I did still like this book, even if I'm a bit unsettled.

The blurb for Never Too Early: Full Circle makes me even more nervous as to how this whole affair is going to resolve. I don't want to see either couple torn apart. So yeah, nervous.

Urgh. If I wasn't very happy with the first book, this one is even worse (for me - your mileage may vary). The two couples have now separated off into.... another two couples. Jake and Chance. Tor and Tucker. ....and FEELINGS *are* involved. Just as we always knew they would be. The red flags have been there all along and I don't know why Jake was so oblivious to them before. At least Chance has recognised them all along - and isn't that strange when it is Jake who is constantly going on about being 'alert' to danger in his relationship with Tor - how can he be so oblivious to the problems and changes these new 'relationships' are *probably* going to cause to the pre existing ones?

They were on the slippery slope in book one..but they've gone the whole hog in book two in this series. This is not 'playing' this has gone far beyond that. As another reviewer has previously written, it seems that the original couples have now moved into the 'friends with benefits' category and the romantic interest is all tied up in the new pairings. For me, it doesn't make for pleasant reading.

For Jake to still think everything is OK because him and Tor 'tell each other' everything...well it's just totally Unbelievable (to me). If one day they tell each other - or worse only ONE of them tells the other - 'hey - I'm worried that I'm beginning to love him more than you' will that still be OK???? Would it be OK if one of them starts suffering withdrawal if the other asks to 'stop' what they are doing? *Feelings* have a life of their own. 'Playing' with another couple is one thing (if you're into that kind of things and all agree with it) but..splitting off into two distinct 'other' couples..that's something else entirely.

Tucker and Tor... well I don't know what they're really feeling. Tucker at least seems to realise that there is going to be a problem with him missing Tor in his real life, but Tor in particular, he's a mystery in this book. All I know is that he immediately did a 180 on his own 'rule' at the end of Bareback, for 'No one but us' ..and he jumped on board with this without even a whisper of doubt (apparently) ..all he said was something like 'are you sure..because...well... because' and that's it. That's his whole contribution regarding any doubts because of his infidelity from before. From there on out, caution was thrown to the wind by both of them.

Tucker...well... he's as 'deep' into this as Chance and Jake I think..but Tor - I just don't know. He's been more or less downgraded into a side character and 'juvenile delinquent' by this stage in the story. Him and Tucker are being portrayed like a pair of naughty school boys - permanently giggling, wrestling and otherwise behaving in a completely unbelievable way for grown men.

All the charm of the previous 'Bareback' story is missing considering most of this book is actually set on Karojet ranch, Elias is only mentioned in passing.. Jacob is never there or heard from - it seems the only things Jake and Tor have to think about now, are their 'new' partners. The only love making we get in the story between Jake and Tor is Jake reliving for Tor his earlier sex with Chance... where is the intimacy in that? You know... if this was all about sex - all about 'playing' I wouldn't necessarily like it anyway... but I could 'get it' ... but the emotions too? After all Jake and Tor learned in Bareback? Actually splitting the established couples off into new 'romantic' pairings rather than into a loose 'foursome' for playing... is just... awful...and I don't believe the characters would do it. I just ... don't.

I will read the last book when it comes out - but only because, at least Chance and Tucker do seem to be becoming worried about where this is all leading, and I have hope that this may 'right itself' in the last book - especially as the title appears to be 'Full Circle'.

Frankly, I'm hoping that means that they all realise what a mess this is and how dangerous it is, and they try to go back to being just friends like they were at the start - if that is even possible after a cluster &^% such as this.

I'm hoping that Tor is not as 'lost' in this as Jake is too. He has definitely been a mystery to me in this last book. I don't really know how *emotionally* involved he is. I know he likes the 'playing' - he definitely likes Chance and Tucker...but I also know that he *can* see that Chance and Jake are getting much more *emotionally involved* with each other than just 'playing' between friends - so I'm hoping a warning light has come on for him and he is going to be able to put the brakes on things before this becomes completely unmanageable.

In fact, if that happens, if they really start to see the damage that could happen here to the originally established couples - and we have an emotionally charged last book emerging from this mess...with all the talking and working out that it's going to take to right this mess..then I may very well change my views and maybe it will redeem itself completely in my eyes...and come... Full Circle for ME. (I couldn't resist that)

Well.. this girl can hope for that anyway.

(On a positive note though, I think I'm going to go and re-read Chance and Tuckers original story - because I think Chance is a great character and it's no mean feat of writing that despite it all - I still like *him* as a character and don't see him as an interloper.)

I am one that never writes reviews ,just rates my books, but this book had the opposite affect on me..

Couldn't rate it since i didn't know what to rate it, the writing was good with two of my favorite writers, but there was so much i hated in this book, that i wanted to stop reading in the middle and forget this series and just remember my two favorite couples in their original series.I was left feeling so pissed after reading it that I had to write a review.. My list of things that bothered me..

5 Hearts Reviewed by Roberta

When I first heard of the first book, I knew two of the main characters and I went to get the books of the other two. I wanted to see the different styles of writing as well as getting to know the characters. I’m really I did. It made it so much better and easier to understand these characters and where their thoughts are.

Jake and Chance are having this sweet, tender love affair and it’s so damn sweet to watch. I like seeing just how much they mean to each other. The tender, loving way that they are is just so damn heartwarming. These two are some strong, alpha characters and to see them fall in love with each other and the way in which they do it…beautiful!!

Tor and Tucker…the twins as they are nicknamed are like two teenagers and that is also something to see. I love how these two guys interact with each other. The way that they’ve bonded is just as sweet as Jake and Chance. I love seeing the antics that these guys get up too.

There is some sex happening in this book and I have to say that it’s pretty damn steamy, just the way I like my stories. However, I will say that it’s not all sex between these guys. It’s really the kisses and cuddles that did it for me. These guys spent the majority of their time together just kissing and cuddling. When the sex did happen…it was HOT and yet at the same time, it was so sweet.

I know that some people still have issues with these characters getting together, however, that doesn’t bother me. I believe that people have the capacity for un boundless love and that these guys not only found it with one person…they are lucky enough to have found it in more than one person.

My only issue with this story is that we don’t get Tor and Tucker’s POV and I hope that that changes in the next book. I’m also hoping that that book is really long as I want everyone’s POV and I really don’t want it to end.

I liked that this book not only had me smiling and laughing, but it was also tender and heartbreaking. That these two couples live so damn far away from each other and truly….how are they going to make it work? Can they make it work? I guess we’ll find out in the third book: Never Too Early-Full Circle.

Anothet reader called these books an "abomination". While I wouldn't go that far, I understand the sentiment. This may be fine for people who didn't read or just did not get invested on Bareback and Natural Disaster years ago. For the original fans, this is a slap in the face. Apparently, Jake and Tor are now in the habit of breaking their "forever" promises. If this was lit, then whatever but i believe these books are meant to be romance novels. #NoWay

2.5 stars. M/M/M/M romance. Book 2/3.
Maybe I just don’t understand how foursomes work and maybe this is normal but I was frustrated that this ended up as a four couples situation rather than a foursome.
So to my dismay there were zero M/M/M/M scenes. And I didn’t care much that all the focus was on the new relationships physically and emotionally.
I wasn’t necessarily put off by the sharing or how it was ‘easily’ negotiated, it was more the lack of attention to the existing partnerships. It seemed that the comfort of the existing relationships was solely for the benefit of moaning together about missing the other couple!
There was a lip service scene about original couples taking sides but it came across as insincere especially since the argument was stupid.

I was hoping that things heat up with the foursome in this book but unfortunately my expectations were never I met.

After my review for this, follows the review for the 1st. So... What I think of this 2nd installment, kind of depends on how I'm looking at it (e.g. from what perspective). I didn't really feel much of the personalities or strong bonds from either of the couples. I was bothered that we never see Chance and Tuck talk about how things progressed with Jake, like Jake and Tor talked about Chance. I didn't feel we got any real depth into Tucker and Tor either. We saw little of the couples bonding as a foursome nor with their original partner. It was more a story about two seperate couples and mostly Jake and Chance. I didn't mind the story. I actually enjoyed it in the context of just a story, but... It didn't feel like a story about Jake, Tor, Chance, and Tucker. Of course, maybe that's why I'm not overly uptight about the couplings, at least yet. It didn't feel like either of the couples. I felt we rarely saw what made each character special / unique and what made each initial couple so beloved. I'll continue the story out of curiosity, but it really feels like it is four different people who share the same names as two of my favorite m/m couples of all time. This was not true of the first story, where I felt and recognized each of the original characters from their respective series.
-----------------------
I think I'll start with a random list of thoughts & info which I may or may not later fix or organize:
1. It Obviously didn't take me 9 months to read this book. I just wasn't sure I wanted to read it. It is a very scary prospect when dealing with iconic beloved couples. Both of these couples were at the forefront of the m/m explosion.
2. I thoroughly read all the reviews first, which is very unusual for me. I typically glance at ratings and skim poor reviews only before purchasing (if that).
3. If I remember correctly, I'm positioned differently than most of the other hard core fans of these couples. Chance and Tucker are my favorite couple, but I really like Jake and Tor too. I've read all their books multiple times, but the "Heat" series more (especially when in the mood for hot sex). Most are Jake and Tor fans first, then Chance and Tucker (if they'd even read Temple's books).
4. What niggles: Chance calling Tuck "Bud". Where on Earth did that come from? It's possible it came up in one of the free stories or shorts, and I don't remember; but it definitely didn't in any of the main books. It just jars me for some reason. It seems out of character the use of the word Bud or Buddy like that. For that matter, what has happened to Tuck's ever present "bossy"comments? (There may have been a few in the 1st book. I'm actually writing this after the 2nd. I hadn't realized I'd forgotten to do a review for the first.) I'm not usually one of those that complains about endearments or their use like some. I'm a really laid back reader, so that it niggles so much was surprising.
5. Definitely an interesting concept by the authors. Clever and believable on how they meet. I appreciate how the friendship(s) start. I struggle a little with Chance and Tucks willingness to explore just because that had NEVER been a component of their relationship. Chance clearly put a kabosh on any possibilities of sharing in their 2nd book
during the scene with Scotty the "hot and sweet" bartender.
6. What I'm left with: a willingness to see how it unfolds... plus a little surprise that so far, I may not be thrilled with the tinkering of the couples but they seem to have remained mostly true to themselves minus the one above mentioned niggle.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

This book, which picks up directly after the first in the series, was also one of the sequels that I was most looking forward to this year.

The first half of the book was very slow. While there is rich and well written detail, we sit through chapters of them having breakfast, sitting on the couch together, going for a ride around the property, and saying goodbye, and it’s all rather drawn out. Now Jake is injured, I get that. But, during the time Chance and Tucker are at the ranch, there is very little advancement on the relationships until it’s time for them to leave. There is also limited time for the men to be together as respective couples. The first book was the set up for the emotional bond to be created and for the first half of this book that bond is only slightly expanded. While I can appreciate the authors taking this expanded relationship slowly as there was a whole lot at stake for these couples, the entire first book in this series was the slow burn and I wanted something more to happen during the first part of this book to further advance the story. When Chance and Tucker return home, work obligations have them going radio silent, and Chance’s actions and reactions to Jake go completely counter to what they had felt and discussed at the ranch. I was then a bit baffled by Chance’s demeanor and behavior at this point.

When Chance and Tucker return to the ranch for the holidays during the second half of the book, this was when the story started to take off for me. The guys pair off and emotional needs as well as physical longings are played out. The new pairings are all a bit intense and when Jake says that he’s not jealous or scared, but that he’s worried, I knew exactly how he felt. Most of the story was told from Jake and Chance’s viewpoint, which worked well, but I also could have used some more from Tucker to see where his thoughts and emotions stood regarding Chance. The authors did show how the new pair ups met the needs of the characters and these authors still know how to make the heat rise between the men. What was missing a bit for me was then a balance of check backs between the main couples. The focus here shifted more to the new pairings that were going on, and I was looking, especially in Chance and Tucker’s direction, for them to also check in with each other on page, as there was a feeling of it all being separate, instead of them all still being together emotionally. So while the second half of the book moved the relationships along, I was back and forth on how the big picture was shown overall. One last note: in the first book, Jake and Chance started calling Tucker and Tor “twins” since they were so much alike. This continued on here and while it was only one word, from my view, it became too repetitive and there was a noticeable overuse of the word, which then lost its effectiveness.

First I have to say that you could read this as a stand alone, I wasn't aware of other books in this series, but enjoyed it by itself anyway. But there were some things that would have made more sense if you read book 1 first. Then there is also the books for each couple before combining the stories together, if you want background on the couple's I would recommend you read all them first. Now on to the good part, it was an interesting SETUP. 2 couples drawn to each other but not as foursome but as couples with each other's significant other. It worked.

The story and dialogue flowed very well. I enjoyed the banter between Tor and Tucker, they were like little kids getting along. Jake and Chance were a little more serious and grown up. The relationships that were developing were very steamy. The long distance relationship made for an interesting part of the story. It leaves you wondering what will happen next and if their relationships can withstand being gone from each other for so long. Definitely a series to keep an eye on.

I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

SO VERY SURPRISED. After the first one, I thought for sure that I couldn't read any more. I didn't want to see either of these two couples with anyone else. I've loved Jake and Tor forever! Chance and Tucker were also one of the first MM books I ever read.

This is told only from Chance and Jake's point of view. Some other readers have said they wanted to know more about Tucker and Tor and I have to agree. They seemed a little pushed to the side. Maybe this will be fixed in the next book? Tor and Tucker can be hilarious together.

It seems like these two couples blend well together. I do want some reassurance that the original pairs are still committed. All in all, though, the authors did a believable job of developing the relationship and didn't rush into the physical animal attraction thing. I was grateful for that.

Kudos to Chris Owen and Tory Temple for doing a great job with a sensitive subject. I loved it and can't wait for the next one.

I'm loving this series.

This book had a different feel to the first book that burned with sexual tension. Here we see the two couples accept their attraction and working their way to seeing how to make it work- if it can. Emotions run high and there are arguments and some miscommunication which is cleared up.

The odd thing is that they don't all sit down and discuss it. It's done between 2 and then acted upon. Sort of just letting it happen as it will. They also pair off instead of being all together which I hope happens in the next book.

We also don't see much from Tucker's POV. It's mostly between Jake & Tor and Chance & Jake so we miss a whole heap of interaction between Tucker and Tor who are having the hardest time.

There is still lots of kisses and cuddling and when Jake & Chance have sex it's really hot and sweet too.

Fingers crossed for a delicious happy 4 way ending!!!!!

Although a part of me has slight issue with the foursome - only because both couples, especially Jake and Tor have been through so much an are so committed to each other, I had a little trouble with Jake moving towards Chance, but also found myself really enjoying the story. It kind of cut out Tor and Tucker too - they seemed more like the annoying kids not the 2nd halves of two couples. Jake and Chance seemed to be falling in love with each other and leaving their partners behind and because the relationship with Tor and Tucker was not really elaborated on (maybe in the 3rd installment it will be) We didn't see any real connection between them except buddies with benefits. Well I still love the characters, the writing and the story. Truly am looking forward to the next book.

This book was good but I didn't feel it deserved higher than a 3 because we only got Jake and Chanve's POV and when you are converting two different series into one I think we need ALL POVs.

The one thing that really bothered me besides the POVs, was when Tucker tells Chance that he will always be his baby the turns around and calls Tor baby. He caught himself the first time and felt guilty, but after that, it was no longer an issue. I guess my feelings stem from Tor and his previous cheating. It makes this serious very hard to read knowing that little fact (or at least reading about Tor and Tucker and not knowing what is going through their heads.)

well dang it...i didn't know each of these couples had their own stories in other books...my TBR just got longer :(

this is the continued development of the couples attempting to forge a road together. i love the slow development and sweet times shared between the boys. i love that the angst is low and they solve disagreements quickly. they start to reveal more to each other and try to figure out how to navigate this relationship.

the writing is good again. the further development of the characters is good, especially since i had no idea their back stories are available. again the ending leaves you wanting the next book right now.

At this point I was reading more out of curiosity than anything else. I saw where it was heading to on book 1 and I'm not going to lie, it got me interested. I think it was more the curiosity to see how the authors would make a foursome believable. And to be honest, I think they did, the problem was that they did with characters that were already established as couples.

I feel like if they had got together and created a new series evolving two couples that got in love with each other, it would have been way better. I didn't read Chance and Tucker's book, but I read Jake and Tor's and honestly, I really don't think they needed this. They were happy as they were.

I read the original books that this series bring together, and I love that the authors brought them together. They fit well, and the development of two couples coming together to form a kind of quad poly relationship is really well written. I love watching the couples get to know one another and negotiate and navigate the process. I wouldn't, however, suggest anyone read these books without reading the respective stories of these couples!

This series just keeps getting better. I had a few minor concerns about how maybe the relationships would be dividing into two separate camps but the writing made the book flow and made the building of all the new relationships work.

Considering the pain and suffering caused by cheating in Bareback, is it really believable that the same couple would just happily pair off with a new partner (no, this doesn't feel at all like a foursome) with no bitterness or pain? No.
